Chapter 1280
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Margaret shook her head. âI canât talk about this; I canât tell you. Besides, if anything goes wrong, how do I justify it to Mr. Jardin?â
Kai was both angry and amused. âYou do trust him a lotâ¦â
Margaret replied, âOf course. Mr. Jardin said that when he comes back, heâll give me a bonus. With that, I can spoil my grandson and buy lots of nice things for him.â
Kai thought, âItâs indeed rare to see someone being so loyal to Zach. There are all sorts of people with ill intentions around him. Having such a dedicated helper is indeed worth taking such a risk.â
âI wonât force you if you donât want to tell me. Zach trusts you very much, and so will I.â Kai did not expect he would give in to a maid.
He took out his phone and showed Margaret a message. âLook at it properly. Weâre on the same side.
It wonât do me any good to harm you all.â
Margaret rolled her eyes. âWhat does it say? I canât read.â
Her response left Kai speechless. âFine.
Margaret was worried Kai had some bad intentions.
The heating was on in Southern Haven Villas. Kai felt hot, so he took off his jacket. Margaret asked, âWhy do you want to stay here overnight? We donât allow outsiders here.â
The sky had already darkened.
âBeing cautious is good. But if youâre overly suspicious to the point of not even trusting me, no one will be able to help you if something really happens.â
Margaret squinted and thought, âMr. Jardin once said that unless it was Mr. Turner, no one should leave here with anyone.
âI can trust the man in front of me to a certain extent, but not too much. But maybe I should just not trust him.â
Margaretâs job here was just to take care of Dalton. There were maids in this villa who were responsible for cooking. Meals would be prepared in time.
The dinner was already being prepared.
So far, Kai had not seen anything wrong in Southern Haven Villas. However, he believed he must remain vigilant. He did not trust anyone here except for Margaret. Although no one could enter the villa now, and the people inside could not leave, he still had to be cautious.
Dalton sat quietly in the childâs seat as he ate. Kai could not help but tease him, saying, âYour parents donât want you anymore, yet you can still eat so happily. Youâre quite light-hearted!â
The next second, Dalton suddenly cried, which lasted for half an hour.
His cries echoed throughout the entire villa. No matter how Margaret tried to soothe him, she could not calm him down.
Kai found it noisy and went to the room on the second floor. However, he accidentally entered the master bedroom where Hayson had stayed in. The study next door was connected to it. He opened the curtains for the lights outside to shine into the room. He stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and dialed a phone number.
After the phone rang for a long time, it was finally connected. The person on the other end sounded lazy. Kai asked, â Just woke up?â
Madelyn replied, âYeah. Howâs Dal?â
Kai walked to the door without responding to let Madelyn hear the crying sound. She could hear it all too clearly and asked, âWhatâs wrong with him?â
Kai replied, âHeâs very smart. I told him his parents didnât want him, yet he could still eat happily. And he started crying right after that. Itâs lasted for half an hour now. Do you want to soothe him?â
A maid rushed over to Kai and said, â Itâs not good. Dr. Stewart, you need to come with me now. The child has been crying non-stop, and he just threw up the milk he drank.â
Kai did not hang up the phone. He walked to the room on the third floor, where everyone was comforting the delicate Dalton.
He said, âAll right. All of you leave except for one person to take care of him.â
Once everyone left except for Margaret, Kai put the phone next to Daltonâs ear. He said, âTalk to him.
Maybe heâll stop crying when he hears your voice.â
He turned to look at Dalton, âLittle rascal, your mom is on the phoneâ¦â
