Chapter 135
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Just as Zach picked up Madelyn, a snowflake fell onto his nose. It was cold and quickly melted upon contact with his body temperature.
He lifted his head and saw that it was starting to snow heavily. The snowflakes fell and remained on the ground before they melted shortly after.
Memories flooded Zachâs mind.
When he joined the Jent family, Madelyn was eight.
âLook, Zach! Itâs snowing!â
Madelyn was eleven.
âZach, can we go build a snowman outside? I like doing that the most!â
He thought of eighteen-year-old Madelyn.
âZach, if it snows in Ventropolis again this year, Iâll confess my feelings for you. Then youâll be my boyfriend, okay?â she said.
âYou did nothing wrong, Madelyn! But⦠It was wrong for you to be born into the Jent family. What youâve gone through is only the beginning,â he said to himself. 1 Madelyn wandered in the dark for a long time.
She felt like a soulless and mindless puppet that was being controlled. When a light appeared in front of her, she walked toward it.
She slowly regained consciousness.
âAhhhâ¦â the person on the bed inhaled sharply.
Madelyn stared at the gray ceiling above her. She smelled the somewhat familiar and faint scent of camellia flowers. She saw Zach on the left side of her bed. He wore a black sweater and had an air of intimidation.
âSeeing him here is so surreal. Am I hallucinating? Why am I here?â wondered Madelyn.
âWhat happened to Madelyn, Mr. Jardin? Whyâd she get hurt all of a sudden? She was fine yesterday.â
Thatâs Rosarioâs voice,â she thought.
âYouâre awake.â
Rosario walked over with a bowl of soup. She gazed at Madelyn with concern, âMy child, ar you alright?â
She continued, âDonât move. Mr. Jardin is cleaning your wound for you.â
Zach was stitching her wound without any anesthetics. Meanwhile, Jadie held her other hand. to prevent her from moving around.
âZach, why donât we send Madelyn to the hospital?â
Madelyn tightly clenched her fist. She was in immense pain. It felt as if someone were ripping off the flesh on her arm.
âItâll be over soon,â replied Zach.
Madelyn kept silent and waited for it to be over.
âHe couldâve sent me to the hospital, but he brought me here instead⦠Whatâs he trying to do?â she wondered.
Jadie held Madelynâs cold hand and said with concern, âZach, Madelynâs hand is really cold. Why donât I give her that blanket in my room?â
Madelyn closer her eyes. She felt a little dizzy and nauseous, perhaps due to excessive blood loss.
Rosario felt incredibly heartbroken.
âMy child, do you still feel sick? Have some soup. Itâll help you feel better,â she said as she held a spoon to Madelynâs mouth.
Madelyn opened her mouth and swallowed the soup. She looked at Rosario, âSorry for making you worry, Rosario. Donât worry. Iâll be fine after getting some rest.â
âWhat happened, my child?â
