Chapter 368
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 368 Jadie felt confused, scared, and anxious about losing the things she held dear. However, out of all these emotions, she felt jealousy most of all.
Jadie was jealous that some people were born privileged; they did not need to do anything to get the things they wanted.
She, on the other hand, could not get the things she wanted no matter how hard she tried and despite even having to endure the disgusting gazes of others.
Madelyn did not dare to look back when she left, terrified that if she did, she would not be able to escape that hell hole. She quickly got in the car while the driver placed her things into the trunk. âHave you gotten all of your things, Ms. Jent?â
âYep! Letâs go.â âThis Etlinish cassette is the most important thing. No wonder I couldnât find it for the past few days,â she thought. When Madelyn returned to the Arnold residence, she saw the old woman again.
The old woman looked over when she heard the commotion. She wore bronze -colored eyeglasses with chains dangling by their sides and had a cane in her hand. âWhatâre you doing here again, maâam?
âIâm old. Iâve gotten lost again. Do you have something to eat? Iâm starving!â Madelyn looked around and saw that the servants were not around. âIâll make you something to eat!â
Madelyn took off the red-colored scarf from her neck. Then, she took off her coat-revealing her beige sweater- and hung it on the coat rack.
Then, she rolled up her sleeves and went to the kitchen. She poured a glass of water and set it in front of the old woman. âHave a seat. Hereâs some water. And if youâre hungry, you can have some fruit. The food will be ready soon.â
Madelyn switched on the television that had not been used in ages and switched to the opera channel.
Surprised, the old woman asked, â Howâd you know I like this show?â
âI used to stay with my grandma, and she loved this show.â Madelyn responded. The old woman scrutinized Madelyn once more. Madelyn could not figure out what the woman was thinking.
âYouâre alone again? Whereâs Mr. Arnold?â âHeâs on a business trip. Heâll be back in a few days,â
Madelyn replied as she walked to the kitchen. The kitchen was filled with all kinds of food and ingredients.
The old woman asked again, âThis is the first time Iâve seen him bring such a young girl home. Are you two together? âYes, we are,â Madelyn replied.
âYouâve met his parents?â Madelyn was startled by her question. She quickly changed the topic and said, âDo you want chicken alfredo or chicken bolognese?â
âBoth are fine,â the old woman replied. She continued, âWeâve already met twice, so weâre not strangers anymore. Is there something you canât tell me? Or are you scared that Iâll blab about it?
Madelyn lowered her head and washed a tomato.
âNope, itâs because of me. Iâm still in school, so itâs too early to meet his parents. Heâs also worried that Iâll be pressured by our relationship, so he thought it would be better to wait till after Iâve sat for my college entrance exam.â
âI heard the servants say that youâre reluctant to meet Mrs. Arnold Sr. and you keep on making excuses? Whatâs that about?â The old womanâs questions were sharp and probing, as if she were gathering information for someone.
âIâm not very sociable and Iâve always kept to myself in school. Besides⦠Mrs. Arnold Sr. has always been such a prestigious person. I⦠Iâm not ready yet,â Madelyn spoke hesitantly and seemed a little nervous.
âAre you scared that she wonât like you? âWellâ¦thatâs part of the reason.â âOh.â the old woman nodded and continued, âSo howâd you and Mr. Arnold meet?â
âMadelyn!â Just then, a familiar voice chimed in, and Madelyn looked like she had seen her savior.
âGeorge!â Madelyn called out.
George glanced at the person on the couch and did not speak. He handed Madelyn a phone and said, âItâs a call from Mr. Arnoldâ¦â
