Chapter 407
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âPastina is ready.â
Rosario carried two bowls of pastina out of the kitchen and put them in front of Madelyn, âI know you donât like to eat cilantro, so I used chicken as the main ingredient.â
Madelyn looked at the vegetable in the bowl and said, âRosario, I donât eat spinach.â
Rosario was stunned for a moment. She smiled as she patted her forehead, âIâm so forgetful. Itâs been so long since you last came back. I forgot about that. Iâll make you another bowl.â
Madelyn was a little disappointed. In the past, Rosario would never forget about Madelynâs preferences.
âItâs fine, I can just pick them out.â Madelyn spread a tissue on the table before picking out the spinach.
It became quiet suddenly.
Madelyn put away her books. When she turned her head, she saw Zach picking out the spinach for her.
He said, âYouâre still so picky.â
Rosario chimed in, âActually, Madelyn is just like Madam. Madam doesnât like to eat spinach, too.â
Madelyn did not respond to that. She just lowered her head and quietly ate the pastina. However, for some reason, it did not taste as good as it used to.
Jadie ate half of the bourbon balls and got tired of it. She then pushed the bowl to Zach, âZach, itâs too sweet. Can I try your pastina? You can have mine.
âItâs been so long since the three of us ate together. I miss this so much! In the past, Madelyn and I would always give you whatever we couldnât finish. And youâd always tell us not to waste food.â
Rosario went to clean up the kitchen, leaving the three of them in the living room.
Jadie was eating Zachâs pastina. But he did not eat her bourbon balls. He did not really like to eat sweet things, either.
Madelyn could not finish her pastina. She got up and wanted to walk to the kitchen.
Zach said, âMadelyn, if you canât finish it, you can give it to me.â
Madelyn tightened her grip on the bowl.
Jadie chimed in, âYou can give it to me. Iâm not full yet.â
Madelyn lowered her eyes and said, âI have a cold. I donât want to pass it on to you two.â After she said that, she went to the kitchen and threw the food away.
She thought, âWeâre all just pretending to be friendly to each other. They didnât have to care about me.â
Madelyn put the bowl back in the cupboard after she washed it.
Rosario said, âYou could just leave it to me to wash after you finished eating. You shouldnât be doing house chores.â
Madelyn smiled faintly, âItâs fine.â
âDo you do this at the Arnold residence? To be honest, Iâve watched you grow up. Your own home is always better than other peopleâs house. Iâm concerned about you staying at someone elseâs place.
Why donât you move back in? I havenât seen you for quite a few days. And youâve lost quite a lot of weight. It breaks my heart to see you like this.â
Madelyn gave Rosario a contemplative look. She then turned her head and used a tissue to wipe her hands, âHe treats me very well. Donât worry.â
Rosario smiled wistfully, âYouâve become much more sensible compared to last time. And you arenât attached to me anymore.
Madelyn said, âPeople grow up. I canât remain a child forever.â As soon as she finished talking, she saw a beam of light quickly flashed across the wall. When she saw the familiar car, she knew it was him.
At that moment, the phone in her pocket rang. Madelyn smiled as she answered the phone call.
âAre you ready? Iâve come to pick you up.â
âYes. Iâll be right out.â
Madelyn grabbed her backpack from the couch and said, âIâll leave now.â
Jadie was bending over, wiping the table.
