Chapter 444
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Madelyn felt like she would always live in Zachâs shadow.
As the door handle was pressed down, Madelyn lifted her head and met Zachâs aggressive gaze.
âHe still hasnât left?â
Zach noticed the hairband in the sink. He stared at her intensely but did not do anything.
He asked, âAre you going to come out on your own or do I have to drag you out?â
Madelyn walked out of the bathroom without responding.
âEat the medicine.â Zach ordered.
There were two pills on the table napkin and a cup of warm water on the table. In the past, when her emotions got too intense, she would take an extra pill. She also felt that she should take the medicine right now.
âThank you.â Madelyn grabbed the pills and ate them. The temperature of the water was just right. She gulped down the water along with the pills.
She said, âYou can leave now. I want to be alone.â
Zach scoffed, âYouâve been causing trouble for such a long time. Thatâs enough. Do you really plan not to go to school and to just stay like this? Didnât you want to escape? Is this your idea of âescapingâ, just locking yourself in your room?â
He grabbed Madelynâs hand and dragged her out of the room.
âWhat are you doing?! Let go of me! Zach, let go of me!â Madelyn yelled as Zach dragged her down the stairs, causing her to almost fall down the stairs several times.
As they reached the ground floor, Madelyn accidentally twisted her ankle without Zach noticing. The pain was excruciating. and she limped as she walked toward the living room with Zach. By the time she reached there, the servants had already started preparing lunch.
When Zach let go of her, Madelyn suddenly fell onto the ground. As the servants in the house saw that, all of them lowered their heads and walked away.
Madelyn struggled to get up, but the sharp pain in her ankle made it impossible for her to stand.
Zach noticed the red, swollen area on her leg and stared at it for a moment.
When Madelyn saw his hand stretch toward her, she desperately stood up, gritting her teeth against the pain in her injured. ankle, and pushed Zach away. She limped back up the stairs, supporting herself with the handrail.
Zach had Margaret bring some anti-inflammatory cream upstairs.
He had one hand on his hip and the other pinching his forehead.
âAm I pushing her too much?â
He had never felt so powerless and mentally drained before.
At the Arnold Corporation, the head of the Business Development Department had been kicked out by the CEO numerous times. The doors of the CEOâs office were wide open with many rejected proposals crumpled on the floor.
âThe Arnold Corporation doesnât tolerate incompetence. This is your last chance. If you canât give me a satisfactory proposal, every single one of you in this department will be fired.â
âYes, yesâ¦. Mr. Arnold, Iâll go revise the proposal now.â
At that moment, Leyton walked out of the elevator, holding a bag of antidepressants.
He thought, âEver since Ms. Jent said that to Mr. Arnold, theyâve never contacted each other. She hasnât been back to the Arnold residence for several days, and in that time, Mr. Arnold has been working in the company non-stop without going home. The entire company has been working overtime along with him. He hasnât had a good nightâs sleep for over a weekâ
Leyton tried to call Madelyn a few times, but her phone had been switched off.
He was still lost in thought, âActually, Ms. Jent was right; their relationship shouldnât have a third party.
Since Mr. Arnold canât bear to let go of Ms. Jent, he should cut all ties with Donna and bring Ms. Jent back.â
Leyton was holding a rolled-up piece of paper as he walked into the office, âMr. Arnold, weâve received Ms. Jentâs entry for the painting competition that our company is jointly organizingâ¦
