Chapter 45
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Another glass went flying out of the room, accompanied by an enraged voice. âMadelyn Jent, shut the fuck up already!â
Just as the glass nearly struck Madelyn, someone swiftly pulled her aside. It was Zach, standing by her side, and she blurted out, âZ Zach, what are you doing here at the hospital?â Zach scanned her up and down with concern. âAre you alright? Did you get hurt?â
âIâm fine.â Madelyn had barely stepped into the room before being promptly expelled. With Forrestâs injuries, he posed no threat to her well being.
âAre you feeling unwell?â
âNot really, just some stomach discomfort, so I decided to come here and have it checked out.â
Zach furrowed his brow. âAre you here to see Forrest?â
Madelyn hesitated briefly before replying, âBro-Brother⦠Did you have someone beat up Forrest like that?â
Zachâs expression darkened. âSo, Madelyn thinks Iâm that kind of person?â
Madelyn thought to herself, âIf itâs not Zach, then who could it be? But if it was Zach, he would never hide it. And if itâs not him, he certainly wonât admit it.â
âNo, itâs notâ¦â She swiftly attempted to pacify Zachâs anger. âI thought you had someone confront him on my behalf. But I didnât realize it wasnât you.â
âSo now youâre upset that I didnât seek revenge for you?â
Madelyn vigorously shook her head, fear evident in her eyes. âNo, thatâs not what I meantâ¦â
âAlright, I was just messing with you. Why are you so tense? Should I take you back to school or straight home?â
Madelyn declined, stating, âI took a leave. I have a piano lesson later, so Iâll just walk there. Itâs not too far.â
Zach glanced at his watch and said, âOkay, be careful on your own. After your piano lesson, remember to call the driver and donât wander around.â
âOkay, okay.â Madelyn nodded. She silently speculated that it might be even riskier to accompany Zach.
Madelyn pinched her forehead, feeling a headache coming on. âWhy do I keep bumping into Zach everywhere? Itâs as if heâs haunting me. Perhaps I should visit Forrest tomorrow instead. It was rather abrupt to come todayâ¦â
Meanwhile, seated in the backseat of the parked Cayenne outside SereneCare Hospital, Ethan gazed at the blue tattoo on his hand and inquired, âGeorge, do you think I look intimidating?â To conceal the tattoo, Ethan always wore long sleeves, ensuring it remained hidden from view.
âNot at all. Right now, Ms. Jent simply doesnât know you. Once you have a formal introduction. and spend some time together, she will come to understand you. Your serious demeanor naturally gives off an intimidating aura, making most people hesitant to approach. However, when interacting with someone like Ms. Jent, who has a pleasant disposition, you can afford to smile more. After all, sheâs a girl.â
Ethan held a tablet in his hands, its lock screen wallpaper featuring a candid photo he had discreetly captured of Madelyn from the window.
âHoweverâ¦. you should also listen to the doctorâs advice so that you can fully recover.â
âAlright.â
The surgery to address Ethanâs leg condition was scheduled for the following day. George Gibbon, Ethanâs butler, reflected on how Madelynâs intervention had greatly influenced Ethanâs decision to return to the hospital for treatment. âDespite Madamâs extensive efforts over the years, she had been unable to convince Young Master to step outside their home, let alone undergo surgery. Yet, it was someone like Ms. Jent, whom he wasnât acquainted with, who managed to emancipate Young Master from his painful past. One can only fathom the immense importance of Ms. Jent to Young Master.â
As Madelyn exited the hospital, she was taken aback by a call from the Jent familyâs chauffeur, who informed her that Zach was furious upon discovering that she had left school without keeping him informed.
Madelyn couldnât help but curse silently in her mind, âItâs Zach Jardin once again!â
