Chapter 561
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Madelyn often had trouble sleeping in a new or unfamiliar bed. She did not sleep well that night, drifting in and out of consciousness.
Madelyn had just gotten out of bed after the wake up call for the room came. Then, she noticed that Jane had already freshened up and done her hair in front of the vanity mirror at some point Madelyn sat on the bed with dark circles under her eyes and seemed not wellârested.
Jane looked at her through the mirror, reminding her, âDonât forget your registration at the Paris Art Academy today. Do you know which class youâre in?â
Madelyn rubbed her temples wearily and weakly replied, âI know.â
âGood. I wonât accompany you there. You can call me later if you canât find your way.â
Madelyn answered, âOkay.â
Jane had specially put on makeup to cover the freckles on her face and wore blackâframed glasses today. Looking at the room key on the table, she hesitated briefly but took it. Then, Jane picked up her bag and left. When she reached the roomâs door, Dorian and Clement happened to come out.
Dorian asked, âWhereâs Madelyn?â
Jane adjusted her glasses and said, âShe just got up. We wonât wait for her. Letâs meet Prof. Monet directly. She can handle herself.â
Clement ran his fingers through his hair, took a deep breath, and said, âIsnât this a bad idea? Prof.
Monet specifically reminded us to ensure her safe arrival at the Academy. If we leave her alone, she could get lost. How would you explain that to Prof. Monet? Donât forget, sheâs Mrs. Arnold. The Arnold family is funding our trip to Paris this time. If we neglect her and she complains, we will definitely get scolded.â
Jane looked at him expressionlessly. âIf you want to accompany her, you can go yourself. I donât have the time for that. Weâre here to participate in the competition, not to flatter a rich girl. Donât forget Professor Monetâs expectations of us.â
The two of them watched Jane as she walked away. Dorian patted Clement on the shoulder with a smile. âActually, Jane is right. Even if you try to be a sycophant, she wonât be interested in you. Sheâs already taken. Itâs better not to waste your efforts on such things. Instead, think about winning the competition this time. If youâre concerned about her, you can wait for her here. Iâll have breakfast with Jane now.â
Dorian dashed off after finishing. Clement was in a dilemma. He glanced at his watch and then at the closed door. After a momentâs hesitation, he approached and knocked on the door.
+15 BÃNUS Madelyn had just finished washing up and dressing when she went to open the door, âClement.â
Clement asked, âMadelyn, are you ready? Jane doesnât have time to take you to the Academy, so Iâll accompany you to complete your enrollment procedures.â
Madelyn nodded. âIâll be ready in ten minutes. Please come in.â
In June, the average temperature in France was around 20 degrees Celsius. So, Madelyn wore a lightâ
colored cotton and linen longâsleeved shirt with a thin, long skirt. She had her hair down and brought a knitted cardigan in case it got chilly at night.
As they rode the elevator down, Clement said, âWe might not have time for breakfast, so weâll grab something on the way.â
âWhat about Jane and Dorian?â
âThey probably went straight to the studio after breakfast.â
âOkay.â Madelyn was not a person who liked to trouble others.
Clement was somewhat reserved and deliberately maintained a safe distance from Madelyn in the elevator. When they reached the hotelâs entrance, Jane and Dorian had just finished eating and descending in the elevator. They saw Madelyn and Clement getting into a longâwheelbase Bugatti. The hotelâs doorman closed the car door, and the car left when they walked out.
Dorian exclaimed, âWow, such a luxurious car! I havenât even sat in one of those before. This guy really lucked out.â
Shielding his eyes from the sunlight, he continued, âJane, how are we going to get there? I asked, and the destination was about twenty to thirty kilometers away from us.â
It was a little far.
