Chapter 569
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 569 Donna and Ethan sat in the car. Donna had always been defiant. In the past, she never backed down even when the two had argued and given each other the silent treatment.
Ethan had always been the first to back down. In fact, Ethan wavered when Donna knelt down. Donna stubbornly looked out the window.
âMy parentsâ wellbeing is none of your business. Mr. Arnold, youâre already engaged, so you better not let your fiancee hear of this. We should keep our distance.â
Ethan looked straight ahead and focused on the road, âRemind me who shamelessly declared at the Arnold residence that she was going to be Mrs. Arnold again? You donât need to put on an act in front of me.â
Donna gritted her teeth and said, âDo you think Iâd go to the Arnold residence and face your grandmaâs judgment if it werenât for Robin? Besides, itâs not like you ever cared about our son in the past, so you donât need to start now. Anyway, just drop us off by the road. Iâll go home on my own after this.â
Ethanâs gaze turned frosty. Then, he said icily, âIâll have my lawyer draft up a contract for the custody of our son. You wonât win against me. The court wonât grant custody to a mother whoâs not mentally fit.â
Donna chuckled icily.
âSo you plan on letting Madelyn Jent raise him? Are you going to ask Robin to call a stranger his mother? Donât act like Iâm fucking six feet under, Ethan! So what if Iâm not mentally fit?! Are you any better? Donât forget youâre a lunatic too!â
Donnaâs words hit home. Ethan was, in fact, a lunatic. Donna turned to look at Ethan with a mildly creepy smile.
âHavenât you realized, Ethan? Robinâs just like you back then,â she said coolly. She continued, âAnd Madelyn⦠Sheâs like Sylvia. Donât forget how Sylvia tore your family apart. In the future, Madelyn will be just like Sylvia and tear us apart just like she did.â
âShut up!â Ethan said as he slammed the brakes. Donna shielded her sonâs head and almost hurt herself.
âAm I wrong? Were we at fault back then? If anything, your grandmother was at fault. If it werenât for her, we wouldâve gotten together long ago, and Robin wouldnât have had to go through all this.â
Ethan said, âMadelyn is not like Sylvia and never will be. On the other hand, youâll never compare to her. She isnât deceitful and manipulative like you.â
Then, Ethan drove the two to a private hospital, which was one of the Arnold familyâs investments.
Robin was taken into an examination room. Ethan made a call. After he was done, he walked up to Donna.
âOur stance is evident. Thereâs no way weâre letting the child stay by your side. Iâve already sent a bodyguard to care for him. In the future, youâre not to come to the hospital without my permission,â he said coldly as he took out a 4 million dollar check. He continued, âThis amount is sufficient for you to remarry and last you an entire lifetime.â
âDonât you even think about it,â Donna looked at him with bloodshot eyes and tore the check into pieces.
However, Ethan did not seem surprised by Donnaâs actions. He simply watched her as she acted hysterically. Finally, he spoke in a cold voice.
âYouâve never loved me. All youâve ever wanted was to be Mrs. Arnold. Would you still cling to me like this if I werenât the CEO of the Arnold Corporation?â
Donna was stunned. Ethan continued, âNot every relationship needs an outcome. Madelyn is the woman Iâve chosen. And you⦠You were just someone who appeared at the right time to give me some warmth. Back when we were young, I treated the minuscule kindness that you showed me as my everything.
Our encounter was a mistake from the very start, and Iâm still paying for our mistakes. Iâve been paralyzed after I got into that car accident for you. Iâve gone for physiotherapy and stood up again because of her, and what Iâm doing now is also for her. Letting the child return to the Arnold family is the biggest concession I can make. However, you will never be Mrs. Arnold.
With that, Ethan stuck one hand into his pocket and walked away. Meanwhile, Donnaâs knees gave out as she collapsed onto the ground and the light in her eyes completely went out.
âIâm⦠Iâm the only one living in the past! Was our encounter a mistake? What about our child? Is his existence merely to solidify Madelynâs position as Mrs. Arnold because sheâs infertile?â
