Chapter 591
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 591 Following the doctorâs instructions, Madelyn brewed herbal tonic in the backyard, keeping busy for over an hour. A servant came up to her, âMiss Jent, let us do that for you. Itâs our job, and you shouldnât have to do it.â
âIâm okay,â Madelyn said, âyou can do other stuff.â Right then, another servant told her, â Miss Jent, Mr.
Arnold is here, and Mr. Jardin is talking to him.â
âGot it, Iâll be there in a moment.â
After preparing the tonic, Madelyn took it to her room upstairs. Instead of going downstairs, she asked a servant to get Ethan for her.
In her room, there were photos from their engagement party on the table. There was also a covered painting in one corner. She had wanted to give it to Ethan during their party, but he wasnât there, so she kept it.
When Ethan came into the room, he quickly hugged her from behind, burying his face in her neck, smelling her hair.
âIâve been so busy with work and couldnât come to see you. When are you leaving? I want to spend time with you.â
Madelyn pulled away from his hug, her face not showing any feelings. âI might not go to Paris now. My father is sick, and I need to stay and look after him. The doctor thinks heâll be better in three months.â
Ethan furrowed his brow. âThere are plenty of servants in this house; you donât need to waste your time here. Painting is something youâve always wanted to do. If youâre worried, we can have him taken to the hospital. My people will oversee it personally.â
Madelyn looked at him silently, suddenly unable to speak. Her gaze made Ethan somewhat uneasy. He smiled slightly. âWhy are you looking at me like that? Whatâs on your mind?â
Madelyn shook her head quietly. â Thank you.â
âDonât be silly,â Ethan replied, âWeâre going to be family. Your father will be my father-in-law. I should help.â
Ethan kept his promise and moved Hayson to a hospital linked with the Arnold Corporation. He even arranged bodyguards for him. However, Madelyn was firm that Hayson should continue with his herbal drinks, as the doctor suggested. She deeply wished for his recovery.
With Hayson around, she knew Zach would still be cautious with his actions. Ethan was right; she couldnât give up what she wanted for the sake of certain matters.
She decided she wouldnât depend on others anymore. Later, Ethan took her to a fancy French dinner place. She never really liked that restaurant. Her steak tasted like rubber.
Suddenly, Ethanâs phone kept ringing on the table. He looked at it but ignored the call. Even though the phone kept buzzing, Ethan was very kind, cutting her steak for her.
The phone calls kept coming in, one after the other. Madelyn finally said, âYou should pick it up. It sounds important.â
Ethan nodded. âStay here, Iâll be right back.â
Madelyn didnât respond. Ethan quickly stepped into a quieter hallway and picked up the call, his face showing his annoyance. âCanât it wait until I get back?â
Donnaâs voice was shaky. âEthan, Robinâs sick again, really bad.â He glanced around, making sure he was alone. âThen get the family doctor.â
âWe did, but nothingâs helping. He keeps calling out for you. Heâs been given medicine for his fever, but he wonât calm down. His hands are even bleeding from trying to fight people off. Ethan, we both need you here.â
âIâll be there,â Ethan said, ending the call and heading back to where they were eating. When he got back, Madelynâs chair was empty.
Worried, Ethan looked around the restaurant, trying to find her. He grabbed a waiter walking by, âDid you see where the lady I was with went?â
The waiter said, âShe paid the bill and left. She mentioned something about an emergency at home.â
Ethan quickly asked, âHow long ago did she go?â
