Chapter 595
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Madelynâs shoes were gone, her feet were cut by sharp stones, but she didnât feel it. All she wanted was to get away from him.
She found herself on a peak of a mountain in a scenic park near Southern Haven Villas. The area was surrounded by mountains, with nothing but trees and a wild grassy field around, and a wide road that rarely saw any vehicles.
At the end of the peak was a cliff, with no protective railing. Zachâs car was parked right on the edge, where the most beautiful sunrise could be seen.
The morning light shone on Madelyn, but she didnât feel its warmth. Instead, she felt cold and numb all over, and the blood beneath her feet was shockingly vibrant against the pale stones.
âMadelyn, youâve got to face it now. Now you can be with your beloved brother forever,â said Zach.
Madelyn realized she was now on the same path as Zach, a path with no way back.
âNo! Itâs wrong! Everything is wrong! Itâs all messed up!â
She held her head, looking like sheâd fall. Turning, her eyes puffy and red, she faced him. âIt wasnât supposed to be this way,â she whispered. âYou have so many girls around you. I didnât want to be just another girl for you to use as a pawn in your revenge. I really liked you before, but you didnât care. Why now? I donât feel that way anymore. I just want a normal life. Why are you doing this?â
Zach was taken aback by her words. He looked serious. âWho told you?â
He was sure no one else knew his secret plans. âDid someone spill the beans?â
Madelyn didnât answer. She suddenly felt lightâheaded. Then, everything went dark, and she passed out.
After some time, Madelyn woke up groggily a few times. Each time, she saw a shadowy figure next to her.
It was Zach, answering calls on her phone. He had tampered with it so that he could pick up any incoming calls.
He picked up a call from someone at the airport.
Madelyn had booked a flight to Paris.
Looking at Madelyn, who seemed really sick in bed, Zach found an excuse to cancel her flight.
The family doctor looked at Madelyn and explained, âShe had an operation not too long ago and sheâs still healing. Sheâs tired, and the cold weather made it worse. Sheâs got a fever now, but Iâve given her some medicine. A good rest tonight should help her.â
Zach nodded, âThanks.â
âJust doing my job.â
Once the doctor was gone, Rosario came in with some medicine. She glanced at Madelyn, her face filled with worry. âMr. Jardin, maybe you should rest. I can watch over Madelyn. Iâll stay out of sight when she wakes up.â
âNo need,â Zach said, waving her off. âI got this. Just whip up some cream soup for her later.â
âSure thing.â
Madelynâs was weak. Just one cold night and she caught a cold.
Zach sat by the bed, gently holding up the weak Madelyn. He gently pinched her cheeks and opened her mouth. He tried to give her a pill with some water, but she spat it out.
Her pajamas got wet on her chest, so Zach patiently took a few tissues to wipe off the water.
After another try, she finally took the pill.
âDonât⦠donât hurt my babyâ¦â
