Chapter 597
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Nightmares wouldnât leave Madelyn alone. In her dreams, she relived everything that had happened in her past life.
She was drenched in sweat, her pajamas soaked. She had changed into several sets of pajamas because of the sweat. Zach, trying to cool her down, wiped her with some alcohol.
In Ventropolis, there wasnât anyone quite as delicate as her.
Zach heard Madelyn repeatedly speak about a child being taken from her. Piecing it all together, he figured out Madelyn dreamt they had a child. She cried, wanting to keep the baby.
Opening a window and lighting a cigarette, Zach thought, âDoes she really want a child that much?
But Zach knew, no matter what, Madelyn would never have a child in this lifetime.
âEven if she got pregnant, I couldnât let her have the child. Because weâreâ¦â He knew he would have to face the consequences of his actions.
The sound of an incoming email broke his thoughts. The email was about someone named âCeciliaâ
that Madelyn had mentioned.
Then, Kevin called. Zach answered.
Kevin said, âThereâs no detailed information. Weâve found over thirty thousand people named Cecilia in the city. Iâve sent all their details to your email. We just donât know if the Cecilia youâre looking for is among them.â
Zach thought for a moment and said, âItâs okay, itâs not urgent. Howâs the prep for the new company coming along?â
Kevin replied, âItâs progressing as you instructed. Many former Azure Corporation employees want to come back. Theyâre waiting for you to return and lead the company.â
âMmâhmm.â After giving some other instructions, Zach hung up the phone.
Before Zach could check his email, he received a message from Fred.
Jadie had been in a car accident. The other driver fled the scene. She was now in the hospital, fighting for her life.
Without a second thought, Zach drove out of the Jent residence, leaving Rosario to look after Madelyn.
Sitting beside the bed, Rosario held Madelynâs hand and tears began to flow.
âI am sorry, Madelyn. It was wrong of me to take out my anger on you.
âYears ago, when Hayson worked for others, my husband, an honest man, worked at construction sites. One unfortunate day, he went to ask for his unpaid wages and was brutally attacked and killed.
*The main person responsible was Hayson. When I tried to get Justice, I had no influential friends to help me. My baby, who was just a year old, was kidnapped, and I was sure Hayson was behind it. I wasnât his only victim. They took my home from me too.
*For a long time, I felt trapped. Penniless, I wandered the streets, begging for food and shelter, and many times, I thought I wouldnât survive. But fate led me to your mother, who radiated beauty and kindness just like you. Seeing my desperate situation and understanding the pain of losing my child, she graciously gave me a job as her servant. Iâve been in her service for more than twenty years.
âYour motherâs life wasnât easy either. She went through so much until you came into the world, but shortly after, she left us. I took care of you, but the memories of what Hayson did to my family never faded. Seeing you grow, accepting me as someone dear to you, only deepened the weight of my guilt.
âI hurt you, and Iâm so sorry. Youâve always been kindâhearted and listened to me, treating me like family. Yet, Iâve brought you pain, and even if I wish otherwise, I canât erase the past. I hope to remain by your side, trying to make things right.â
