Dorian quickly got up from his seat when he spotted Madelyn in the hallway and approached her.
Taking her coffee, he gave a cheerful grin, but his eyes showed a hint of guilt. âMadelyn,â he said.
âWhat are you doing here? Didnât Prof. Monet ask you to be downstairs with the guests? Whyâd you come up?â
Madelyn smiled slightly, âProf. Monet had to leave for an interview with the international journalists.
Could one of you help cover for me downstairs at the event? You might get a chance to mingle with some of the celebrities attending. I have plans later, so Iâll need your help here.â
Dorian asked, âYouâre not looking for another job, right? I thought with all those awards, youâd have enough money. Why do this kind of work?â
Madelyn replied, âI couldâve lived comfortably in France for years with that money.â Then, seeing the surprise on Dorianâs face, she added. But I gave it all away.â
Their eyes widened in shock. Dorian blurted out, âHave you lost your mind?â
Madelyn gave a small smile, âI need to take care of some things. You guys should head downstairs;

Jane shot up, glaring. âWho do you think you are?â she said sharply. âFeeling proud? I wonder how you even got Prof. Monet to teach you Madelyn did not say anything. An awkward silence hung in the air, interrupted by a noise from below.
Madelyn, looking tired, decided no to find out what caused it and just went to the break room.
Clement watched Madelyn leave. Dorianâs remark about âfond of herâ was still on his mind. He looked at Jane with a furrowed brow.â Wasnât that a bit much?â he asked before following Dorian downstairs.
In the exhibition hall, everyoneâs attention was on one special person. As the crowd moved aside, it was clear who had everyoneâs intere Kevin stepped forward and asked, âWhoâs in charge here?â
Recognizing the manâs importance, Dorian replied, âI am. Good day, sir. Iâm Dorian, a student of Prof.
Monet. Since heâs away, Iâm in cha âTurning his attention to Zach, who seemed equally influential, he extended his hand in greeting, but Zach did not respond. This left Dorian feeling a touch embarrassed.
âIs there anyone else here besides you?â Zachâs voice was calm but carried a cold edge.
Faced with Zachâs intense gaze, Dorian felt on edge, even as he tried to hide his uneasiness.
