Chapter 643
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Madelyn had finished her meal, but Zach was still taking his sweet time, like he didnât care how long it took. But Madelyn wasnât going to stick around and wait for him.
She stood up, slung her bag over her shoulder, and left her seat without saying a word. But before she could even make it out of the restaurant, a bodyguard blocked her way. She couldnât leave without Zach with her.
Madelyn glanced back at Zach, who was still sitting there, casually wiping his mouth. She was getting impatient. Since she couldnât leave, she decided to sit back down and opened her email to reply to a message from a gaming company that was working with the studio.
She was so busy that she lost track of time.
In the last few minutes, she quickly jotted down some notes as per the companyâs requirements and grabbed a simple sketchbook and a pencil. With the time she had, she made a rough sketch.
Suddenly, Madelynâs phone in her pocket started ringing, and she answered, âClement?â
Clementâs voice came from the other end, âWe have a meeting today. Why arenât you here? Is everything okay?â
Madelyn hurriedly apologized, âIâm so sorry, Clement! It completely slipped my mind. Has the meeting finished? Iâll rush over right away.â
Clement, on the other end of the line, glanced at Jane, who was quietly gathering meeting materials in the conference room. Her face looked grim.
Due to Madelynâs absence, Jane had made a big fuss. After all, this was the final project in their hands, and as soon as it was done, they could go home early.
Clement tried to reassure Madelyn, saying, âItâs okay. Iâve already sent you the meeting minutes. You can look at them later.â
âThank you, Clement.â
âNo problem.â
After she hung up with Clement, Madelyn noticed the email he had sent her.
It turned out that the gaming company had already started planning their second game and needed them to speed up and submit the sketches quickly. The submission deadline had been bumped up by half.
Considering the tight timeframe and the incomplete sketches she had on hand, not to mention Zachâs presence, Madelyn couldnât see how she could possibly make it.
She lowered her head, and suddenly, a drop of blood dripped from her nose. It dawned on her that she had forgotten to take her medication today.
Zach, engrossed in a conversation with a company owner they had worked with before, noticed Madelynâs actions and furrowed his brow. She had her hand against her nose, tilted her head back, grabbed her bag hastily, and rushed to the restroom.
Zachâs gaze never left Madelyn. After a brief exchange with the man, Zach walked right into the womenâs restroom. A blonde, attractive woman was just coming out and saw him standing by the door.
Initially startled, she looked closely and seemed pleasantly surprised.
Without much thought, Zach pushed past the blonde woman and entered the restroom. The washbasin area was empty, so he waited until all the stalls were vacant, but there was no sign of Madelyn.
Zach thought, âItâs only a matter of seconds. Where could she possibly have gone?â
When Madelyn entered the restroom, she had taken a pill from her bag and swallowed it quickly, wiping away the nosebleed. Coincidentally, she noticed a blurry figure outside the frosted window. When she opened the window, it was the window cleaner on the automated elevator doing his job. Madelyn quickly told the window cleaner that she had been kidnapped. Without asking many questions, the window cleaner pulled her onto the elevator.
As they descended from the elevator, Madelyn offered a quick thank you and didnât dare to look back.
She simply hailed a taxi at the curb and made a quick getaway.
Zach, looking out the window, watched as Madelyn got into the car. In fact, Madelyn had already noticed him, She panicked, rolled up her car window, and the driver sped away.
