Chapter 646
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âShe canât do it, and you think you can?â
A cold voice came from behind the crowd, and everyone turned to see a man walking toward them. He was the guy from the art show with his assistant.
This man was goodâlooking and tall, giving off a classy vibe. You could tell he was a bigâshot CEO with one look.
Someone in the group felt like they had seen him before but couldnât remember where.
The person who spoke earlier quickly lowered their head, too scared to talk again.
The people around Madelyn made way for him.
Madelyn had no clue that Zach would show up. He stood next to her, his gaze sending shivers through everyone.
He said, âArenât you usually all confident around me? Why the quiet act now?â
Madelyn gripped her dress, looking down, and muttered, âI didnât ask for your help.â
Zach responded, âYou heartless girl. Weâll talk about this later.â
Jane kept her professional tone, saying, âSir, this is our studioâs private matter. If you want to get involved, please go back and handle it. Donât disrupt our work.â
Zach called out, âKevin.â
âYes.â Kelvin responded and stepped forward. He said, âEncounter Gaming is the subsidiary of Jardin Corporation. Jardin Corporation will thoroughly investigate the plagiarism incident.
âAs for the matter of dismissing Ms. Jent, Ms. Smith, may I ask under what authority youâre making this decision?â
Kevinâs words silenced everyone.
Madelyn was taken aback as well. âJardin Corporation owns Encounter Gaming?â
She had always thought that Kennedy founded Encounter Gaming. Few people knew about the relationship between Leonardo and Kennedy, and Leonardo rarely took on external projects.
Jane could not provide an answer for Kevin, but she stayed composed as she replied, âSir, let me be clear. Prof. Monet entrusted this studio to me, so I must bear the responsibility. If thereâs an issue, I have to address it. Weâre all regular folks trying to make a living and support our families. Not everyone has the same background and status as she does. If we all accommodate her, it would only hinder our progress and hold us back.â
âI agree with what Jane said,â one of the girls nervously raised her hand.
âYes! I agree too.â
âWeâre on Janeâs side!â
âJane is spot on. Sheâs doing whatâs best for us. Even if youâre the boss of the company that owns Encounter Gaming, you canât just use your power to push us around.
âWeâre regular folks here. Weâve been putting in overtime every day to get the job done, and itâs been exhausting. If I had a family like Madelynâs, I wouldnât be working.
âPlus⦠itâs true that she held us backâ¦â The girlâs voice trailed off as she spoke, and when she noticed Zachâs gaze on her, she got so scared that she hid behind Jane.
With the support of several people, Jane straightened her back. She bore the pressure and stood in front of everyone.
Now, Madelyn suddenly had to bear the brunt of everyoneâs criticism.
Zach sat in Madelynâs seat. He crossed his legs and flipped through the discarded sketches he had picked up from the trash can, âEven if she takes advantage of my power and acts recklessly, Iâll cover for her.
âIf she likes Encounter Gaming, it can be her playground too. She has this privilege. What about all of you?â
