Chapter 664
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Zach lit a cigarette. Ever since Madelyn left him, he had picked up smoking. Now, he could not quit.
âThe details donât matter.â
âDid you kill Randall? Frida asked.
Yvonne glanced over. She knew Zach had secrets, and he always intrigued her.
Zach replied, âMs. Young, without evidence, murder accusations are just talk. But today, weâre discussing money.â
Owning that oil field gave Zach a significant edge. The Young family had diverse businesses; the oil industry was their latest focus. Their partnership with the Burton family was postponed because of Randallâs imprisonment. When Zach revealed the deal today, it took Frida by surprise.
Frida grew concerned about Zach potentially rising to prominence in Ventropolis. She could not believe it. While the Burton family was in chaos, trying to track down the businesses Randall owned, Zach had managed to secure the oil field worth over $10 billionâa prize the Burtons had their eyes on. Frida felt conflicted. On one hand, she desired the oil field; on the other, striking a deal with Zach was risky. But Frida recognized that bold moves could lead to substantial gains in business.
âMs. Young, think it over,â Zach urged.
Fridaâs eyes narrowed, looking suspicious, âWhy approach us when you couldâve gotten over $1.5 billion from the bank?â
Zach replied, mischief in his eyes, âI have my reasons. Or maybe⦠youâre too scared to bet with me?â
âDo you realize how risky this is? If things go south, youâll lose everything.â
âI only gamble when Iâm sure Iâll win.â
âFine,â Frida said. âIf you canât pay back in three years, the oil field becomes the Young familyâs property.â
âDeal.â
âTo make sure weâre on the same page,â Frida continued, âyouâll need to get engaged to Yvonne. We donât just lend this much money to anyone.â
Seeing where the conversation was heading. Yvonne asked with a hopeful grin, âMom, are you agreeing?â
rida was unsure about Zach because of his mysterious past and ambitious goals. She worried he might one day overshadow the Young amily. âIâll say yes if you promise to join our family through marriage.
Do you agree?â
ach smiled confidently, âOf course.â
