Chapter 694
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 694 Zach took the pen from Kevin. Then, he signed at the bottom of the paper and handed it to Kevin. âGive this to the legal department.â
âYes, sir.â
Zach had always been someone who would go to any lengths to achieve his goals, not to mention a mere fake marriage like this. To him, it did not matter who his bride was.
âNo need for lunch today.â
âWhatâs going on? Do you have to head back to the office? We just got married, you know. Honey, canât you stay with me just this once? Weâve never really shared a meal together. Canât we make an exception today, just for me?â
âYvonne, you need to know where to draw the line. Donât get too lost in the role.â
Yvonne felt a chill at his words. Zach climbed into the car without another word and drove off. âMr.
Jardin, should we head to the office or to Floral Loft?â
Zach closed his eyes for a moment, pinching the bridge of his nose. âIâve accomplished what I set out to do, but why do I feel this growing sense of irritation?â he wondered.
âHome.â
âUnderstood, sir.â Zach unlocked his phone and glanced at the GPS location displayed on the screen.
As he did, his expression grew increasingly somber.
When Zach arrived at Floral Loft, he opened the door and went straight to the master bedroom without hesitation. There, he found Madelyn on the balcony, lost in thought. His expression darkened even further.
Slowly, he approached Madelyn, who was huddled on the couch with her knees pulled up to her chest.
Her eyes seemed to be focused on something far away, as if she were in a world of her own.
Madelyn fluttered her eyes when his pair of legs came into her vision. Then, she said softly, âCongratulations.â Zach stared intently at her, as if trying to see right through her. ââ¦And?â
âHave a happy marriage,â she said. Slipping one hand into his pocket, Zach used the other to lift Madelynâs chin, locking eyes with her in a way that felt almost threatening.
âThatâs not what I want to hear,â he said, his voice icy. Slowly, Madelyn raised her head to meet his gaze.
âWhat do you expect to hear? That I love you? That you shouldnât marry Yvonne?â She went on, âDo you honestly think youâd believe me if I said any of that? Zach, when did you start lying to yourself?â
Madelyn slapped his hand away and stood up. âI know you way too well, Zach. You always treat the things youâve gotten way too easily in disdain. As for the things you cannot get your hands on, you use all means to get them. And this includes keeping me by your side. Itâs merely your possessiveness acting up. You canât accept the fact that Iâm now over you when I used to be so deeply in love with you.â
Her voice tinged with bitterness, she added, âYou want everyone to submit to you willingly. If you have any decency left, donât toy with Yvonneâs emotions. Be a responsible husband and treat her well. If you still doubt me, let me be clear: Zach, I donât love you. I donât love you now, and I never will in the future.â
âHeâs always been like this. To him, the things he canât have are the most valuable,â she thought to herself.
Madelyn continued speaking, âProf. Monet has already returned to Ventropolis. Iâll move out tomorrow, and⦠You should go back to wherever you should be.â
Zach suddenly cracked a smirk.
âWeâll see if you can really break free.â
Madelyn stayed silent, offering no response. Just then, the housemaid knocked.
âSir? Ms. Jent? Lunch is ready.â
