Chapter 700
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 700 Zachâs icy gaze fixed on Madelyn. âYou slept in the hospital for a whole day and still havenât had enough sleep? Didnât you know to return if I didnât ask to?â you Madelyn had no idea what he was angry about. His questioning tone was like a parent scolding a child for coming home late.
The age gap between Zach and Madelyn was not significant. He was about eight years older than her.
Since childhood, he always liked to be in control of her, no matter what it was. Even when she came home from school an hour late, he would meticulously inquire about everything she had done.
Madelyn had had a crush on Zach since she was a child. However, he rejected her every time she confessed her feelings to him. He said their relationship would only be that of siblings.
At first, Zach had a hostile attitude toward Madelyn. However, he would not allow her to get close to other boys or engage in overly intimate interactions when the boys appeared around her.
Madelyn had been hurt before and wanted to move on from Zach. She began to hang out with and date other guys. But, after just three days of being together with one of them, Zach found out somehow. The next day, that guy mysteriously changed schools and ended their relationship. Madelyn was pretty sure Zach had something to do with it.
Madelyn said with impatience, âZach, you donât have any ties to my family anymore. Please stop trying to be my guardian and controlling my life.â
Turning away, Madelyn didnât care about his mood and just wanted to get back to her room. But as she took a step, Zach suddenly grabbed her wrist.â What have you been up to at Mistral Monastery these past two days?â
Madelyn tried to shake off his hand, saying, âWhat else does one do at a monastery? Arenât you being a bit too controlling?â
She sighed and continued, âI went there to pray, hoping youâd let go of your possessiveness over me sooner. Canât you give me some space?â
âAnd this book?â
âIt was a gift from the monastery!â Madelyn had reached the limits of her patience with him. âIâm tired.
Canât you just ask everything in one go?â
No one dared to speak to Zach this way. Madelyn was the first and the only one he would indulge.
âIt isnât useful for you. Donât you like drawing? Iâve bought you several reference books on drawing and design. Theyâre all in the art studio.â Zachâs tone suddenly softened, and his gaze toward her was not as cold.
âIf you want to go to Mistral Monastery tomorrow, Iâll carry you up. Donât walk up yourself. Your health isnât good.â Zach held her wrist, moving his hand downwards. His warm and large palm gently cradled Madelynâs hand.
Madelyn pulled her hand away abruptly. âSo, you feel like you owe me something and want to make it up to me?â
Looking at his affected behavior, Madelyn found it somewhat amusing. She shouted at him with a stern tone, â If you truly believe you owe me something, then give me back my chance to have a child. I want to be a mother. Can you make that happen? If you can, Iâll be with you.
âI donât hold a grudge against you for what you did to my family or my father. I know you have your issues with my father, but why are you taking it out on me? I didnât do anything wrong.
âAnd what happened to that old ruthless side of you? Youâre not the same person I used to know. I canât forgive all the things youâve put me through in this lifetime.â
Madelyn took the book from the table and immediately rushed into the room, forcefully closing the door.
She leaned against the door, clutching her chest and taking deep breaths. Her heart was pounding.
Madelyn had finally spoken the words that had been building up inside her, but she still couldnât bring herself to meet Zachâs eyes. She was afraid that even a moment longer in his gaze might expose the guilt she felt. His eyes seemed piercing, as if they could see straight through her. Zach always had a way of exercising control over her.
