The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 708 Madelyn responded, âOkay, thank you.â Madelyn was a little sad when she looked at the child with tubes inserted into his body. He was all red.
A nurse placed the child on the bed. But after a short while, the baby woke up and cried loudly with his eyes closed.
The nurse panicked for a moment. The child had an IV on his head. But now that he was crying, the blood began to flow backward.
The nurse looked at Madelyn, âMiss, the baby might be hungry. Do you have a breast pump? You can pump some breast milk into a cup and feed the baby. Madelyn was overwhelmed, âIâm sorry, Iâm not the babyâs mother. But I do have infant formula.â
The nurse responded, âThe baby is very weak. Iâd recommend breastfeeding if possible. If not, you can prepare some formula now.â Madelyn replied, âOkay, Iâll go do that now.â
Madelyn hurriedly grabbed some formula and a bottle. A few minutes later, she took the milk bottle and walked over to the nurse, âIs this okay? The nurse checked the milk bottleâs temperature and said, âYes, itâs just right. You can feed him this.â
Madelyn gently brushed aside a strand of loose hair that had fallen near her ear and held the bottle near the babyâs mouth. He started sucking and, very quickly, stopped crying.
The nurse complimented, âYou seem new to this. But you prepared the formula just right, even though I didnât tell you the measurements. You mustâve done your homework.
âMiss, youâll surely be a good mother in the future.â
Madelynâs hand that was holding the bottle stiffened for a moment. She then quickly came back to her senses. She responded with a faint smile, âThank youâ¦â
The nurse observing the baby left to prepare some medical equipment. Madelyn sat by the bed and stared at the child. She felt as if her entire heart had melted.
When she gently wiped away the tears on the babyâs face, he suddenly opened his big, round eyes.
Madelyn panicked for a moment. She noticed the baby was about to start crying again. But when the child saw Madelyn, he suddenly did not want to cry anymore. He stared at her as he sucked on the bottle. He suddenly opened his mouth and smiled joyfully.
All the milk he had in his mouth was spat out and remained on his body. Madelyn quickly removed the bottle and used a tissue to wipe him clean. Her voice was exceptionally tender as she said, âBaby, you must eat well to grow up, okay?â
âAh.â The baby seemed to understand what Madelyn said and happily let out a laugh. She glanced at the IV on his head and said, âYou mustnât move around. You might dislodge the IV.â
âOh,â the baby made a sound.
âDo you still want to drink the milk?â Madelyn placed the bottle near his mouth, and he started drinking it. He was looking sideways at her the whole time.
She thought, âThis kid looks weak and a little malnourished. Itâs such a pity that a child so young has been abandoned by his parents.â
At this moment, Madelyn exuded a strong maternal vibe. She gently said, â How about I name you âDal,â short for â Daltonâ?â
Madelyn had chosen this name a long time ago.
