Chapter 716
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Frida continued, âIâll be right outside. If you need anything, just call me.â
Ethan did not give her a warm look. After Frida left, Madelyn pursed her lips and lowered her eyes as she thought, âEthan and Frida wonât be able to reconcile within such a short period of time. Thatâs why I didnât say anything. Besides, this is a family matter, so I canât interfere.â
Ethanâs face suddenly turned pale and coughed. Madelyn hurriedly patted his back, âThe doctor said youâre still weak, so you shouldnât move around too much. I bought soup for you. Let me feed you.â
She then held a spoon to his lips. Ethan opened his mouth to drink. He kept looking at her. He was not willing to look away even for a second.
He said, âMadelyn⦠Lâ¦â
âEthan, the past is the past. Letâs not talk about it, okay? For now, letâs focus on healing your sickness.
We can talk about everything else after that, okay?â
âOkay. Iâll listen to you.â Ethan had nothing left to ask for. The person he wanted was already here, and this was enough for him.
At Jardin Corporation, Kevin received a message from the hospital. He then walked into the CEOâs office and said, âMr. Jardin, Ethan Arnold has woken up!â
âOkay.â Zach seemed unsurprised, as if he had already known about it.
He asked, âWhat about Madelyn?â
Kevin hesitantly shook his head, âShe should still be in the ward. If she leaves, the bodyguards will report her whereabouts.â
Zach extinguished the cigarette in his hand. He stood up from his chair and walked to the floorâtoâ
ceiling window.
âNaive! She thinks she knows everything just because sheâs broadened her horizons a little. And just because of that, she wants to leaveâ¦Tomorrow, remove the bodyguards around Ethan and make sure to keep an eye on the Young family. Without my permission, no oneâs allowed to leave the hospital!â
Kevin responded, âYes, Mr. Jardin.â
Madelyn stayed until an hour before Zach finished work. She then made an excuse to leave. As soon as she reached the door of the babyâs ward, she heard the baby crying. She thought, âHow could I forget about him?!â
She hurriedly entered the ward. A nurse was carrying him trying to soothe him. As soon as the nurse saw Madelyn, she handed the baby over to her, âIâm sorry, miss. He cries a lot, and I couldnât calm him down.â
Madelyn responded, âItâs okay. You can go and do your work. Iâll take care of him.â
âOkay.â The nurse left the room while carrying a medical tray.
Madelyn said to the baby, âDal, donât cry. Are you hungry? Shall I prepare some milk for you?â
âDal? Not a bad name!â Zachâs voice suddenly echoed from behind. Madelyn was startled. She turned around and saw Zach walking toward her. He removed his black blazer. The room was kept at a constant temperature. It was not cold.
Madelyn did not respond and just continued to gently sway the baby in her arms.
It was quite strange because this baby would cry when anyone carried him other than Madelyn. Even if Madelyn did not hold him, he would smile when he saw her.
She thought, âI just came downstairs for less than ten minutes, and heâs back. If Iâd come down even ten minutes later, heâd surely be suspicious.â
Perhaps Madelyn felt guilty, she said without looking at him, âWhy did you come back so early today?â
Zach stood beside her. He softly touched the babyâs face. Dalton suddenly looked unhappy. Zach responded, âI came back early to spend time with you. Donât you like that?â
Madelyn was speechless, âHe knows very well whether I like it or not. Thereâs no need for him to ask me thatâ
Zach asked, âSeems like Ethan has woken up. Havenât you visited late Act Fast: Free Bonus Time Is Running Out!
