Chapter 737
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 737 Every time Kevin showed up, Madelyn felt uneasy, worried about what Zach might be up to. After giving Madelyn her medicine, Zach assisted her with her clothes. âIâll be back in a flash,â he said.
He threw the used cotton swab in the trash and then poured some water into a cup, placing it on the nightstand. Once he had settled things in the room, he made his way out. As he did, Kevin handed him a package.
Kevin said, âOn my way over, Ms. Samford came by the Young residence. She said you wanted her to hand- deliver the deed of the Arnold residence to you.â
Zach examined the item Kevin gave him, nodding in approval. âGood job. Once we finish up here, I want you to take a three-week vacation. However, Iâve got one last task for you first.â
âWhatâs our plan?â
A determined glint appeared in Zachâs eyes. âWithin two days, I want everyone out of the Arnold residence,â he instructed. âThen, Iâm taking over.â
âYou got it.â
Zach stepped into the room, finding Madelyn lying on the bed, her eyes shut but clearly not asleep. He sensed she was avoiding him. Her moods never bothered him; he always felt he knew just how to console her. No one, he believed, knew Madelyn as he did. He took her hand, his expression softening as his fingers gently brushed against hers.
âYou still upset with me, Madelyn?â he asked. âLook, I had my reasons. Giovanna? Sheâs tied to the Youngs. Frida controlled most of Jardin Corporationâs shares and had eyes everywhere in our business. You know I canât stand betrayals.â
Madelyn thought, âGiovanna is with Frida? I didnât know. But Zach shouldnât have threatened her.â
âMadelyn, youâre too trusting,â Zach said. âYou let Giovanna go with the child, even giving her your savings. She was going to abandon the kid at an orphanage. If I hadnât stepped in, who knows where the child wouldâve ended up? I just didnât want to see you hurt.â
Madelyn locked eyes with Zach. âAfter everything your crew put me through, you claim you didnât want to hurt me? Giovanna might not be innocent, but Ethan? He only tried to help me escape. What was his reward? If not for me, heâd be seriously hurt or worse.â She touched the marks on her skin, silent testimonies to Zachâs deeds. âEnough with the tricks, Zach,â her eyes shimmered with disdain.
Zach was a master of deception; he tricked Madelyn into handing over Haysonâs will to him in their past lives. His eyes briefly darkened, yet his face remained unreadable with a hint of a smirk. âIf you take the medicine, Ethan will be free.â
âReally? Do you promise?â
âWhen have I ever lied to you?â Zach said, running his fingers through her sleek black hair.
With Ethan no longer serving any purpose to Zach, keeping him at the Jent residence seemed unnecessary. A defeated man like Ethan was no threat to Zach, past or present.
