Chapter 837
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Fred had watched everything from the door and was impressed with her bravery. Mya, on the other hand, was terrified from just seeing him. It was just like seeing Zach. Both of them were like villains to her.
However, even if she wanted to leave the car, it was too late. Serenaâs bodyguards had caught up and surrounded the car. She dared not get out of the car at that moment.
Mya shrank back, unable to meet Fredâs eyes as she stammered an apology, âIâm so sorry, sir. Your car looked just like mine. I didnât mean to get in, really. And that woman⦠sheâs bad news. Please donât throw me out, okay?â
Fred gave her a cool glance. He wasnât mad, but there was an intense edge to him that was undeniable, his scar adding to his fierce appearance.
Outside, Serenaâs bodyguards appeared ready to attack the car. Fortunately, its tinted windows shielded Mya, allowing them to see out while preventing Serenaâs bodyguards from seeing in.
Fredâs deputy lowered the window slightly, revealing his badge. Serenaâs bodyguards paused, uncertain. Fred issued a stern warning, âThink carefully about the repercussions before you damage my vehicle.â
Catching sight of the emblem on Fredâs uniform, Serena faltered. After a quick look at Mya crouching behind the seats, she turned on her heel and left.
Mya carefully poked her head out to see the group leave. She let out a breath of relief and said, âThat was terrifyingâ¦â She patted her chest while looking around fearfully.
âWhatâs your name, miss?â Fred asked. He could smell the sweet scent of a woman, yet it was different from other women. It was a natural body scent. Strangely, he did not hate it. Instead, he was having a reaction to it.
Myaâs nerves were still tense; hence, she looked at him warily. She gave him a forced smile and said, âI-I, thank you, mister, for helping me drive the bad guys away. Iâm leaving now. Iâll treat you to a meal when Iâm free.â
After rambling off, Mya swiftly got out of the car and ran. Who knew that this whimsical promise would bring her so many problems in the future.
After she got out of the car, Mya stared at the car nearby and slapped her forehead in frustration. She stomped the floor angrily and scolded, âDave, why did you drive the car away? You made me get in someone elseâs car.â
Dave said in resignation, âI didnât want to. The mall guard wouldnât let me park there.â
Mya gestured to a sleek black car nearby and questioned, âSo why can that one be parked there?â
Dave replied, âMs. Harper, that car isnât like ours.â
âBut itâs the same make,â Mya insisted.
With a helpless shake of his head, Dave explained, âMs. Harper, that car has a line of letters beneath the model name. Itâs a military edition-limited and not available for purchase. Itâs not just any car; itâs in a league of its own compared to ours.â
Reflecting on Daveâs clarification, Mya felt a wave of embarrassment. âIâve made such a fool of myself.â
Meanwhile, Fred asked, âWho was that just now?â His natural caution kicked in; Fred knew that once could be happenstance, but twice might suggest a pattern.
His deputy answered, âThat is Mya Harper, a daughter of the Harper family.â
âThe same Harpers to whom Zach sent an extravagant gift?â Fred asked, a smile playing on his lips.
At that moment, a woman exited the shopping mall, the skirt she had just purchased flowing around her legs. Her straight, black hair draped over her shoulders, enhancing her innocent demeanor.
She got in the car and sought Fredâs opinion, âIâve changed, Mr. Turner. Do you like how it looks?â
