Chapter 861
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âI remember that we didnât talk to her much when we were still in school.â
Madelyn could not understand that, too. Indeed, she was not close with Serena at all. Instead, Serena was actually Jadieâs good friend.
So, she could not figure out why Serena would impersonate her.
After some time, they heard the sound of a car starting Someone downstairs was probably leaving.
Zach walked into the room. Mya, who was playing around with Dalton, suddenly fell silent and froze.
Madelyn saw Mya lowering her gaze. She knew Mya was afraid of Zach, but not to this extent.
âIs he gone?â Madelyn asked.
âYeah. What do you feel like eating tonight? Iâll get the maids to prepare the ingredients,â Zach said.
Madelyn turned to Mya and asked, âStay for dinner tonight. Itâs been so long since you came over.â
âCan I?â Mya stole a glance at Zach timidly.
âWhy not? Iâll have the driver take you back later.â
Mya immediately nodded with a smile, âGreat. Iâm going to eat a lot.â
That night, Mya prepared to go home after having dinner. She ate so much food that her belly turned round.
She carried a bag at the door, filled with gifts from Madelyn and pastries made by the maids.
âTheyâre delicious. I want to come over again tomorrow.â
Zach took a step forward and shut the door.
Madelyn was shocked, âWhat are you doing?â
Zach grabbed her hand as he said sternly, âI only agree to let her stay for your sake. The Harper family isnât so poor that they canât afford to feed her.â
âZach, Mya is my friend. Can you not say that about her?â
âShe ate four plates of spaghetti, yet Iâm in the wrong?â Zach retorted.
The maid who was cleaning up chimed in, âThat young lady can really eat. Iâve never seen such clean plates.
âI guess weâll have to prepare more dishes for when she comes over againâ
Zach brought Madelyn to the sofa and sat down with her. Then, he handed her a glass of warm water, saying, âKeep the jewelry I gave you to yourself. Donât give them away anymore.â
Madelyn lifted her gaze, âI donât need them anyway. Besides, Mya is my friend.â
âYou donât need her as a friend,â Zach said.
Madelynâs expression darkened instantly, âZach, thatâs too much.â
As Madelyn got angry, Zach smirked. Then, he ran his fingers through her hair. âYou can spend as much time with her as you want.â
He preferred to see her expressing her emotions instead of moping around or, worse, being emotionless.
Mya walked a short distance and waited for the car to pick her up. She happily hopped along the road, swinging the bag in her hand.
Suddenly, a bright light flashed in front of her, blinding her eyes.
