Chapter 959
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
They thoroughly searched every corner of Ventropolis, tracing the route to Marisburg, and did not overlook any neighboring cities. Upon receiving the missing persons case, police stations received orders, and officers mobilized immediately.
In addition, the security company Zach instructed also went all out to locate Madelyn. It was a comprehensive search, and they almost turned Ventropolis upside down.
Zach stayed up all night, patiently waiting for her news the next day. Kai spoke up because he could not stand it anymore, âI know youâre worried about her, but skipping rest and medication wonât help. If you keep going like this, youâll be a goner before we find Maddie.â
Zach remained unmoved, eyes closed, tightly clutching the ring. Kai never imagined that when Zach fell for someone, he would become so crazy that he did not even care about his life. At this rate, he would end up killing himself.
Kai assisted him with the medication. Just then, Kevin entered, holding something in his hand. âMr.
Jardin, thereâs news.â
Zach opened his bloodshot eyes, filled with exhaustion. âTell me!â
Kevin said, âThis bag belongs to Ms. Jent. Yesterdayâs investigation revealed that Ms. Jent did give a taxi driver five hundred dollars to drive to Southgate City. Itâs about a hundred kilometers from Marisburg, nearly an hourâs drive. This bag was also found in Marisburg by a sanitation worker and handed over to the police. After checking, the police found Ms. Jentâs fingerprints, but there were also others. We suspect someone might have kidnapped her.â
A flash of murderous intent crossed Zachâs eyes instantly, chilling. âWhere is she now?â
Kevin replied, âThe cops are currently checking surveillance cameras everywhere. We should have news soon.â
âI want to know where she is within the hour.â The intensity of Zachâs emotions exacerbated his wounds, causing him to cough.
Kai quickly restrained him, âDonât move, be careful of your wound.â
Kevinâs phone suddenly buzzed. He looked at the message and immediately reported to Zach,â Mr.
Jardin, thereâs news. Ms. Jent stayed at a hotel recently. The police are on their way there now.â
Zach showed a worried expression. He lifted the blanket, swiftly tearing off the intravenous drip hanging from his hand. âKevin, get the car ready. Iâm going to find her.â
Kai stopped him immediately. âYou finally brought your fever down, but itâs starting again. And now you want to rush to Southgate City with a high fever? Do you even want to live?â
Kai knew his words would not sway him much. Just then, Zach pushed away the person trying to stop him. However, unexpectedly, he stopped as he reached the doorway. He felt a darkness enveloping his vision. In a moment, his entire body fell backward. Kevin quickly helped and steadied him.
Kai helped him switch the intravenous drip to his other hand and said to Kevin, âKeep an eye on things in Southgaté City for now. Iâll take care of Zach. Hopefully, Maddie will be in front of him when he awakes. Otherwise, his condition will get worse.â
Kevin pressed his thin lips, then answered, âOkay.â
That was the only thing they could do now.
They reviewed all the surveillance footage in Southgate City and saw Madelyn getting out of a vehicle and entering an alley with no cameras. The landlady inside was also being questioned in the interrogation room.
The hotelâs landlady trembled as she spoke, âThe person in the photo did stay at my place for a night, but she left around three or four in the morning. I even returned her deposit personally. If you donât believe me, you can check my surveillance.â
When the police checked the surveillance, they found out the cameras had broken long ago and could not find any information. When the time had come, they had no choice but to release the hotelâs landlady.
She asked softly, âWhoâs this girl? Is she some missing kid from a rich family?â
