Chapter 979
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âYouâre giving us everything? But what will you and uncle do?â Blake asked. She could not hide her concern.
Grace sighed heavily, her voice filled with resigned acceptance. âYour uncle and I knew this day might come. We have to ensure your and Myaâs safety first. With this money, you should manage just fine.
Weâll manage somehow.â
Blakeâs eyes began to fill with tears. She said, âThere must be another way. We can ask Madelyn for help. She said the only person who can deal with Fred is Mr. Jardin, the CEO of Jardin Corporation. Mr.
Jardinâs her brother, and he will surely help us.â
Grace shook her head, a mix of sadness and resolve in her eyes. She said, âBlake, we are outsiders in their world. Madelyn has already done more than enough for us. We canât keep depending on her anymore.â
Mya carried a glass of water over clumsily and said, âMom, hereâs your water. I accidentally broke the glass just now, but Iâve already taken care of it.â
Grace gave Mya a final, longing look, her heart heavy with farewell, and said, âMya, youâve done well.â
âBlake, pack your things. Book a flight tonight and leave as soon as possible.â Grace instructed.
Blake agreed with a heavy heart and began to pack their belongings.
âWhere are we going?â asked Mya, innocent and confused.
âYou always wanted to visit your friend overseas, right? Blake found out where he was. Youâll see him soon,â Grace reassured Mya with a smile, but her eyes held a deep sorrow.
Myaâs eyes lit up with excitement and said, âReally? Then Iâll pack right now and take lots of yummy snacks!â
Grace watched Myaâs cheerful figure bound upstairs, her heart aching. She murmured, âThatâs all I can do for you now, my dear Mya.â
That evening, Grace cooked a feast, a final loving gesture for Mya. After dinner, Grace lovingly adjusted Myaâs fluffy white cap, and Myaâs face broke into a carefree smile. Grace hugged Mya and said, âMy dear Mya, take care of yourself no matter where you are.â
âMom, Iâll be smart and take care of myself. Blake and I will be back in a few days.â Mya replied.
âGo now, or youâll miss your flight,â Grace urged.
The driver put Blake and Myaâs baggage into the back of the car.
As the car carrying Blake and Mya drove away, Grace began to dismiss the household staff and, after dealing with some company affairs, she headed to the hospital in the middle of the night. However, her journey to the hospital was unexpectedly diverted when she realized the driver was not who she had expected.
âWhatâs going on? Where are you taking me?â she demanded, panic rising in her voice.
âItâs too late for realizations now, Mrs. Harper,â the driver said menacingly, his eyes glinting with malice in the rearview mirror.
Trapped in the car, Graceâs heart sank as they drove further away from the city. The car headed toward a remote area, the dark night sky only illuminated by a dim moonlight.
âMs. Samford, Iâve brought her here as you asked,â said the suspicious man.
At that moment, Grace was bound, with tape sealing her mouth.
In the dark, a womanâs face appeared especially sinister. She said, âYou have yourself to blame for this.
You should have chosen your alliances more wisely. Of all the people, you had to get involved with Madelyn. But even without Madelyn, your daughter ruined my plans, and for that, she canât be with Fred. Because Fred, like Zach, is mine!â
In another lifetime, Fred had kidnapped and assaulted Cecilia. Although initially horrified, Cecilia grew to relish their illicit affair, even bearing his child, though fate had cruelly snatched it away.
Fredâs true identity was a secret to the outside world, but Cecilia was in the know. In Ventropolis, only Zach could stand equal to Fred in the world of power.
