Chapter 981
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
It was a quiet and peaceful night. Without any warning, it started to snow.
Fred held onto a sleeping Mya. After not seeing her for a few days, she had gained a lot of weight. The other women were all slender, while she was as plump as a partridge. Fred had never seen a woman not take care of their figure before.
When Blake drove by, she saw the car plate on Fredâs car. Her eyes widened as she saw the familiar person in the car.
âItâs him! What is he doing here?â She thought. Blake immediately lowered her head and avoided staring at Fred when she thought of how he had used her.
Kevin walked over and called out to Fred, âMr. Turner.â
Fred glanced at him and asked, âDid he send you?â
Kevin did not answer. Instead, he said, âMr. Jardin doesnât plan to interfere with the affairs between the Harper and Turner families. Iâve come to settle a different issue.â
Fred walked past him. He had initially planned to bring Blake with him but chose to let her go. All the bodyguards started to drive off.
Blake hugged herself as the cold wind made her shiver. When she saw Fred, she snorted coldly before immediately leaving. Kevin, on the other hand, was a man of cold efficiency. He opened the door and said to Blake, âCome here. Get in the car.â
Blake retorted, âTch, who would want to be in your car?â
Kevinâs face immediately turned ugly, and he explained, âAccording to the latest weather report, there will be a blizzard in two hours. All airports have stopped. It would take five hours for you to walk there.
If you donât want to freeze to deathâ¦â
âIâ¦â Blake wanted to say she had a chauffeur, but none was around. Before Kevin could finish talking, Blake dashed into the car. After that, she nodded at Kevin before putting on the seatbelt. She then said, âYouâre right, Mr. Harrison. Since youâre trying to be kind, I wonât let you miss out on this chance.â
Kevin proceeded to shut the door. When he turned around, he smiled. As the car started to move, Blake asked, âWhatâs going to happen to Mya? She was tortured the last time she was there. There would be no mercy for her if she were to return again.â
Kevin turned the steering wheel and turned on the headlights. He told her, âSheâll be fine. Youâre the one whoâs in trouble. You skipped work without any reason. Do you still want this monthâs bonus?â
Blake clutched her seatbelt tightly and argued, âIâve already sent my resignation notice to your mailbox.
Iâm preparing to take the Civil Service Exams. Besides, I think this job is not suitable for me.
âBeing bled dry every day is too much. Besides, Zach and Kevin arenât good people. Theyâre using me to keep track of Mya while pretending to take care of her. Yet, I foolishly followed their orders. I made Grace worried for so long, and now even Simon is in the hospital due to complications from anger,â
Blake thought. She would not be able to forgive herself if she had to see his face every day at work.
Kevin hesitated before saying, âAlright. According to regular resignation procedures, I will approve it, but a monthâs processing is required for the early resignation. You need to finish all your work by this month.â
Blake interjected, âI can hand the work over to Susan, and then Iâm going to leave immediately.â
Kevin furrowed his brows and said, âIf you want to resign, you must follow regular procedures. After a month has passed, no one will stop you if you want to leave.â
Blake obliged, âIâll stay for one more month then.â
However, she feared her last month would be terrible. She imagined that she would be tortured to death by Kevin.
On their journey home, Blake was oddly quiet. While staring at the familiar path, she stared at Kevin in surprise and asked, âHow do you know where I live?â
Kevin answered, âYou donât need to know.â
When they arrived at their destination, the Harper residence still had their lights on. Kevin got out of the car and walked quite a distance before Blake could remember she needed to get out. She asked again, âKevin, how do you know where my house is?â
Kevin locked his car and scolded, âYouâre going against your superiors before even resigning?â
Blake thought he was amazing and suspected Kevin had planted a tracker on her. Kevin opened the door and saw some strangers in the house. There was also a doctor in a white coat. The doctor took down his stethoscope when he heard someone come in. He greeted Kevin, âMr. Harrison.â
Kevin walked over and asked, âWhatâs the situation?â
The doctor shook his head and said, âWe found that besides superficial injuries, the patientâs chest tissue was somewhat hardened, and her heart rate was irregular. According to our preliminary diagnosis, it seems that she may have breast cancer.â
Blake saw the unconscious person wrapped in bandages and rushed over quickly, âGrace! What happened to my aunt? Wasnât she fine at home? Why is she hurt?â
âWhat happened during the brief time that I was out?â Blake wondered.
âWho did this?â She finally asked.
