Chapter 991
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Madelyn thought, âWith Zachâs current power, how could he have no way to deal with Cecilia if he really doesnât like her? Heâs just indulging her, so heâs turning a blind eye to everything she does.â
With this in mind, everything made sense. Unfortunately, Madelyn would not let Cecilia have her way because there was absolutely no way she would marry Zach this time!
The frustration that had been pent up in her heart quickly dissipated. Seeing Zachâs phony expression, she felt nauseous.
âHe and Cecilia really were a perfect match!â
Zach began, âCecilia is back⦠Iâ¦â
Madelyn calmly interrupted him, âZach, no need to explain anything to me. Thereâs nothing to explain!
Iâm angry because she provoked me for no reason repeatedly, not because Iâm jealous. I have nothing to be jealous of. Itâs just absurd! Getting scolded for no reason isnât pleasant for anyone. Donât say it wonât happen again. Itâs meaningless, and Iâm tired of it.â Madelyn lifted the blanket, put on her shoes, and walked past him. Zach suddenly grabbed her wrist and sighed deeply, âYou donât need to overthink it. I just want to keep an eye on what Ceciliaâs trying to do, so Iâm letting her stay by my side! She has a share in Jardin Corporation. I canât just ask her to leave! She still holds leverage over Jardin Corporationâ¦â
Madelyn shook his hand away forcefully. âThatâs great. Itâs great to see you involved in an all- out war with others. When Jardin Corporation goes under, you might end up on the streets. Itâs just retribution.â
Madelyn left and went to the art studio. Then, she locked the door. The phone placed next to the easel kept vibrating. Zach had gifted her the phone and transferred her data to it without her consent.
Fortunately, there was nothing else apart from the things in her frequently used email. The contact list only had one number that she would never receive again in her lifetime.
Madelyn still kept her old phone, with contact notes personally edited by him, saved to that day. The phone Zach had brought over last time sat there untouched. Madelyn opted not to use it and continued with the old phone, which was completely useless now as it could only send messages and make calls.
In the study, Zach worried about Madelyn, who locked herself alone in the art studio. He pulled up the surveillance footage in the study and saw her staring at the phone intently. His eyes narrowed dangerously, and the coffee at hand suddenly slammed forcefully against the wall. A large patch of yellow-brown liquid remained on the white wall, and shards of glass scattered across the floor.
âYouâre still reminiscing about that dead bastard?â
The servant was cleaning the room. Upon hearing the commotion from the study, she immediately walked in. âMr. Jardin, what happened?â
Zachâs body trembled in anger. âGet out!â
The servant had never seen Zach so angry and frightened before. She trembled in fear and, quickly turned around, running out without cleaning the room properly.
Madelyn was busy with her manuscript. Hearing the sudden vibration of the phone, she curiously put down her brush and checked. Suddenly, she saw a message from Kennedy.
[Iâm sorry for what happened last time. The one who answered the phone was my sister. I wouldnât have known you called me if she hadnât let it slip. I know you were inquiring about Forrestâs whereabouts. Donât worry. I heard some people discussing the place he was in not long ago, and Iâve already found his location.]
