Chapter 996
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
It was quiet in the private room. Dorian invited everyone to take their seats.
However, it did not take long for someone to curiously ask, âMadelyn, isnât Mr. Jardin your brother?
Why does it seem like youâre not very close to him?â
It was an intern who said that. She unknowingly had crossed a line.
Clement frowned as he gave the intern a warning look. She immediately sensed something and hurriedly covered her mouth, âIâm sorry⦠I didnât mean to ask that. I wonât ask anymore.â
Madelyn just smiled faintly. She calmly explained, âItâs fine. We were indeed siblings before. But after my father passed away, I didnât really have any relationship with him anymore. Moreover, thereâs no such thing as a free lunch. Thereâs always a price to pay after taking someone elseâs things. That was a two-million-dollar bottle of wine⦠I wonât be able to save up two million dollars even if I work at the studio for more than ten years.â Someone asked, âWhat about the viral news that said you two were getting married?â
Madelyn subconsciously tightened her grip on the cup of juice she was holding, âWe wonât be getting married.â
She thought, âEven though we have a marriage license, Iâll never acknowledge it. Just like I wonât acknowledge Dalton.â
Dorian quickly stood up, âEnough. Why are you all prying into her private matters? We arenât reporters.
Now, letâs just eat. And after dinner, we can go to the hot springs together. Letâs enjoy ourselves tonight.â
Madelyn was no longer afraid of what outsiders might say. She thought, âThis situation today was meant to embarrass me! Cecilia, I wonât compete with you in this lifetime.â
Madelyn was very quiet during the dinner. When someone talked to her, she would only respond briefly.
She did not eat much either.
Her behavior did not fit with the lively atmosphere.
She sat and ate quietly alone. Although her demeanor was cold and unapproachable, every movement of hers was elegant. Even those attempting to get close would easily feel inferior in her presence.
Madelyn was truly gorgeous. Every strand of her hair seemed delicate. People who silently admired her felt frustrated as they realized they could not match her beauty.
After eating, people started singing again. Some even went to soak in the hot springs.
Then, many people started leaving.
It was finally quiet. Madelyn was sitting on the sofa in the private room when Clement could sense her uneasiness. So, he approached her and handed her a plate of fruit.
He said, âTheyâre a little outspoken. Donât mind them.â
Madelyn shook her head, âIâm fine.â
After Dorian finished smoking, he walked in from the balcony, âTheyâve all left. Madelyn, do you want to go soak in the hot springs?â
Madelyn responded, âProbably not. I just received a message; the client wants an additional background for a scene. Iâll have to work on it later.â
Dorian patted Madelynâs shoulder and said, âDonât talk about work when youâre out here to have fun.
How about this: letâs see the snow. I heard thereâll be fireworks later!â
Madelyn replied, âFireworks?â
Dorian responded, âDonât you know? There are fireworks every day at midnight in Supreme World.â
The word âfireworksâ seemed to touch Madelynâs heart, making her recall memories from when Ethan proposed to her a few years ago.
He said, âOn our wedding day, Iâll set off fireworks across Ventropolis to light up the night sky. Youâll be able to see them wherever you look. Itâll last for the entire day.â
