[ Odd couples ]
"Well damn," Jungkook said looking up at the newly posted list for their Dramatic Arts class.
⢠Lisa and Taeyong - The Notebook
⢠Rosé and Lucas - Romeo and Juliet
⢠Jennie and Jin - Macbeth
⢠Wendy and Sehun - Dirty Dancing
⢠Yeri and Jungkook - Twilight
Etc. Etc. No one cares about anyone else.
"Freaking Yeri Kim? Really?" Jungkook said out loud.
"Trust me, Jeon. I'm not any happier about this," Yeri said next to him, a frown on her face.
"Why wouldn't you be happy? You get to do a love scene with the most popular guy in school!"
"Popularity isn't everything, Jungkook. Besides, I take the performing arts very seriously and I know for a fact you won't pay it the same courtesy."
"Oh please, this whole class is a load of crap! I just wanted an easy A, and seriously? Fucking Twilight?" He told her.
"Believe me, I am not a Twilight fan either. I mean honestly! It doesn't even have any good romantic scenes!"
"Never seen it."
"Well... uhm, neither have I... but I promised myself I would perform anything thrown at me with 110 percent of my effort! My talent is too good to waste!"
"Fuck no, acting is totally lame!" Yeri gasped, how dare he?
"Well, I assure you I will be talking to Ms. Choi about a change in partnership. I refuse to work with someone with such little appreciation for the Arts!" Yeri snapped back.
The argument continues as people were also protesting about the list all over the place.
"There is NO way in hell I'm letting you do that scene with her!" Wendy yelled from across the group.
"Honey, it's just a project! I'm sure Jennie doesn't like me to perform it with her either."
"Ugh, he's right-- like... who the fuck is Jin?" Jennie asked the crowd.
"Uhmm... that would be me," the tall boy said, raising his hand.
"Oh! I thought your name was Porcelain," Jin rolled his eyes.
"Yeah Wendy, it's not like I wanted to be partnered with your BOYFRIEND." Lisa said.
"This is bullshit! I'm talking to Ms. Choi."
"Uhmm... I'm perfectly fine with my partner, but could someone explain to me what Romeo and Juliet is? Is it like a band or something?" Lucas asked, raising his hand.
Rosé slapped her forehead in disappointment.
"Wendy, I hope you know I can't dance." Sehun told the livid girl.
"Well, can you lift me?"
"Yeah no problem, I can lift Luhan up when he tackles me." Wendy was about to say something before someone interrupted;
"Hey guys! What do you think of your assignment?" Ms. Choi asked, sauntering up with a smug smile.
Immediately, everyone voiced out their protests. Shouting to be heard.
"Aye compadres! SILENCIO!" Everyone shut up at her command. It was pretty much the only Spanish most of them knew other than 'Hola.'
"Alright now, before you start protesting know this-- I will not, under ANY circumstances will change your partners or your scenes. You gots whats youz gots, comprende?"
They all nodded.
[â¢â¢â¢]
"This whole drama project is gonna suck. I mean, Jin? Really?" Jennie complained to Lisa as they walked down the hall. The brunette was tucked underneath Lisa's arms-- the weight getting more comfortable as they got used to being around each other.
"Taeyong's pretty cool, but I sorta wish we got the Dirty Dancing scene-- I mean, come on! Taeyong and I would be perfect for that!" Jennie looked up at her curiously.
"Why? Do you dance or something?" Lisa looked around cautiously, before leaning in.
"Yes but shh, no one supposed to know!" She whispered. Except it wasn't the usual seductive or threatening whisper, it was the 'I trust you to keep my secret' whisper.
Jennie felt kinda... giddy with the knowledge that Lisa trusted her with this.
"So you can actually dance?"
"Why do you say it like it's unbelievable?" Lisa asked.
"I don't know... I just can't picture you dancing."
"Oh really? Well, tell that to my rock hard abs!"
"What, do you have a six pack under there?" Jennie said rolling her eyes.
"Ew no, six packs on girls are totally not hot but still, these babies are impenetrable!" The blonde boasted, slapping her stomach, which was covered by a black Nirvana shirt.
"Riiiiight," the head cheerleader chuckled skeptically. Lisa withdrew her arm from Jennie's shoulder.
"What, you really don't believe me?" The badass challenge.
Jennie's eyes trailed down her body, hesitating at her chest before proceeding down to her stomach-- which is flat. She totally believe her but decided to tease the Thai girl instead.
"Not really, no."
"Alright fine!" Lisa went for the hem of her shirt, evidently ready to pull it up. Jennie acted quickly and placed her hand on hers to stop her.
"Lisa! People are starting to stare!"
"Who cares! You don't think I have awesome abs!"
"Of course I do!" Jennie admitted, but Lisa didn't believe her this time.
"Just feel them-- touch or punch them!" The taller girl insisted, stepping towards Jennie who was backing up slowly.
"No, Lili!" The Korean girl giggled at her forcefulness-- the nickname just sort of slipping out.
"Aww c'mon, Nini!" Lisa whined, backing her up against the lockers.
"Lisa!" Jennie squealed, continuing to laugh at the other girl's antics. Then Lisa grabbed her wrists and the head cheer leader suddenly stopped laughing.
"You know you want to..." and the seductive whisper was back.
Unable to look at the mesmerizing doe eyes in front of her, the smaller girl diverted her vision to their hands where Lisa was teasing Jennie's hands up her shirt. Curiousity got the better of her and she allowed what was happening, her hands slipping under the shirt.
When Jennie felt bare skin on hers, she had to suppress a gasp. Lisa was totally right, she had amazing abs that were oh so defined and completely perfect-- nothing like Jungkook's and so much better in a way she couldn't begin to describe.
Jennie marveled at how the muscles rippled under her touch and how smooth Lisa's skin felt against hers. She had a sudden urge to actually see her stomach... maybe she should've let her take her shirt off.
"Abstastic right?" The blonde breathe.
The Korean girl suddenly remembered where they were, who was around and whose shirt she had her hands up. Immeditely, she rectracted her hands.
"Yeah they're uhh... pretty great," she said nervously. Hoping that Lisa couldn't see how much she just enjoyed touching her stomach.
"I know!" The badass smiled proudly and Jennie sigh in relief. If Lisa knew how much that just affected her, she did a wonderful job of hiding it. "Now that that's settled, let's get you to class."
Lisa was actually proving to be a surprisingly good girlfriend or erhm-- FAKE girlfriend-- better than Jennie thought she would be at least. Sure it was only a second day but so far, she hadn't forgotten to pick her up from class or sit with her at lunch. And she kept the flirting toned down-- well, toned down just for her.
Plus... she found herself seeing that she didn't actually hate the girl like she previously thought. When she wasn't going out of her way to make Jennie irritated. Lisa was actually kind of fun to be around and easy to talk to... who knows? Maybe she would gain an actual friend (Who wasn't Rosé) out of this whole ordeal. A friend with killer abs...
Shit.
What the hell was wrong with her? How could she let that happened? Seriously? Feeling up her abs totally went against everything she believed in-- and Lalisa Manoban was NOT her friend. She definitely didn't daydream about her body, no matter how perfect or in shape it obviously was. Her legs were also nice too!
...and now that she thought about it... and not to mention her-- stop it, Jennie! She chastised herself. Go back to hating her, go back to hating her right fucking now!
"Jennie... JENNIE!" A voiced said, catching her attention and breaking her out of her thoughts.
It was Jungkook.
"What, Jeon?"
"Look, Jen-- I know we hadn't talked since we broke up and I really miss you. I promise if you come back to me I'll treat you right and make sure all your needs are filled," the boy promised. The head cheerleader felt a little guilty for stringing him along-- until she remembered that he totally deserved it.
"Jungkook, it's your fault for letting me go in the first place. I'm a catch and you should have seen that. But oh well, once a stupid, always a stupid."
"I DID SEE THAT! You just didn't see how much I cared for you! Please Jen, just give me a chance!" Jennie smirked, rule number one in Kim Jennie's book: 'Always come out on top.'
"Sorry Jeonie boy. You were fun and all but I'm with Lisa now. She gets me and has a killer body."
The football player looked at her in disgust at the mention of the blonde.
"So... you're not just using her to make me jealous?" He asked. Jennie froze for a second but recovered quickly.
"Oh puh-leasee... make you jealous? Really? As if!" Up till now, the brown haired boy was sure that was her angle-- now he wasn't so sure.
"We're not done, Jen. I know it," he firmly stated.
"Maybe we're not, Jungkook." She shrugged nonchalantly, "Who knows?"
"I'll prove to you that I'm worthy, I'll make you fall for me... hard." That was the last thing he said before leaving her and returning to his table.
Jennie scoffed. Oh, she so like to see him try.
[â¢â¢â¢]
"So Jennie's okay with you being here with me, right?" Taeyong asked as the two dancers stretched out a little.
"Trust me, she won't mind."
"Wendy's pretty mad. No offense but I really wish I didn't have to do that project with you."
"None taken, I totally understand."
"Is Jennie jealous too?" Lisa faltered, not really knowing what to say.
"Erhm... yeah? I guess you could say that. Although, it's more me having to kiss someone else, right?" She was totally making this up as she went along. Thankfully, Taeyong seemed to be buying it.
"Yeah... and I'm really sorry if Wendy kills you."
"Haha, I can take care of myself..."
"I know," the moment got awkward as they sorta just stood there.
"Sooo... dancing?" Lisa offered, trying to break the silence.
"Oh snap! Yes, dancing."
[â¢â¢â¢]
Rosé and Jennie sat on the brunette's bed, as the head cheerleader mindlessly flopping through a magazine while Rosé did her homework religiously. The routine was that Jennie would get done with hers hours before doing the bare minimum, and Rosé would take the extra time to do the exceptional work.
"DONE!" Rosé exclaimed suddenly, making Jennie jump.
"God finally! I was almost done with my magazine!" She said, slapping it down and resting her head on her arm so she could look at the red headed girl.
"Okay-- so I heard a rumor that Lucas has a crush on you," Jennie started. She was a huge gossip-- especially when it came to her bestfriend.
"Lucas Wong, really? I guess he's sorta cute..." Rosé supposed.
"Oh what? He's totally hot! And he's in a football team too!"
"Yeah but... he's also in Choir Club..."
"Seriously Chae? You're judging his dorky-ness? Don't forget you're a co-captain of the Brainiacs and a church girl as well!"
"Okay fine whatever..."
"So are you gonna get up on that?"
Rosé thought for a moment while Jennie impatiently rolled her eyes. She thought too much.
"I don't know. I mean yeah? He's pretty popular and hot, but I've only said five words to him."
"Words? What words?"
"Oh hi? Yeah that's great." Jennie laughed, wondering what scenario that phrase could've been used in.
"Okay so he's a little... dumb."
"He doesn't even know what Romeo and Juliet is!"
"Oh yeah! You have to do that scene with him! Ohhh... you guys are totally gonna get your mack on!" The feline girl teased, making kissy faces at her.
Rosé threw a pillow at her as Jennie just continued to laughed.
"Oh shut up! You have to kiss a gay guy!"
"Ugh, don't remind me!"
"So I heard a rumor that Lisa was so jealous she was going to sneak into Jin's house and burn all his clothes."
"What? No way!"
"Yeah, people can really be stupid sometimes." Rosé said, shaking her head back and forth. "... oh and you know what else I heard?"
"What?" Jennie asked, ready for more gossip.
"That you coped a feel in the hallway this morning."
Jennie went rigid. She was still beating herself up about letting that get that far.
"Oh my god. That one's true, isn't it?" Rosé said, wide-eyed and giddy.
"I wasn't like fondling her or anything! We were just messing around!-- wait. Not like that!"
"Jennie Kim... You. Are. Totally blushing!" Rosé teasingly sing-songed.
"It wasn't like that, Chae! She told me she had abs, I didn't believed her, she made me feel them. That's all." Rosé looked at her skeptically, a smirked plastered on her lips.
"Wait-- under or over the shirt?" Jennie groaned.
"Does it really matter..?"
"YES!"
"Ookay under, but she forced me to!" Rosé started laughing again, and the head cheerleader was starting to get a little tired of it.
"Are you done yet?"
"No-- no... okay... okay. Yeah, I'm done..." Rosé panted, trying to regulate her breathing.
She had never seen Jennie so flustered before-- or so defensive! Which actually got her thinking... why WAS she like that? Could something more be going on between the enemies/girlfriends?
Rosé studied her friend, she'd known her long enough to read her like a book. She looked on edge-- which meant she was definitely hiding something... but what exactly? She knew Jennie hadn't lied once tonight, the red headed nerd could always tell. So what was it..? She have to explore this further.
But now, more teasing.
"So how were they?"
"How what?" The brunette asked, confused.
"Her abs? Were they good..? Nice and firm? All defined from her extra curricular activities?" Rosé said slowly and seductively. Jennie irritatingly rolled her eyes before pushing her away.
"Shut up, Park!"
[â¢â¢â¢]
Exhausted, Lisa dismounted her bike and headed up to her front porch, humming a tune randomly.
That's when she heard the shouting.
"What do you think you're doing here?" She heard her mom yell.
"I wanna see my fucking kids, that's what!" Her dad screamed back. Even from the other side of the door, Lisa could tell he was drunk.
"You're crazy if you think I'm letting you near them! Especially like this!"
"They're my kids, I can see them whenever I want to! They need their father, obviously their mother isn't doing her job!" Lisa clenched her fists as she's about to barged into their home and give her parents a piece of her mind.
But she didn't-- instead she took the alternate route. She ran to the back of the house and climbed up on top of the mini-work shed that was there before taking the leap onto the roof of the patio cover.
Knowing her bedroom window was unlock, she climbed in.
"FUCK YOU, YOU STUPID BITCH! I'M GONNA TAKE MY GODDAMN KIDS FROM YOU!" Marco Manoban's voice boom through the house. The blonde silently went down the hall and into her brother's room.
Lisa's heart broke at the sight in front of her.
Nico had his pillow over his head, obviously trying to muffle the sounds of her parents screaming. He was curled up in a ball under his sheets and tears were streaming down his face.
"Lis. They're fight-- ing again..." the boy whimpered. She immediately crossed the room and picked her brother up, who clung to her immediately.
"I know, Nics. Come on-- we're gonna go somewhere till they're done."
"Okay..." he whispered.
"Now go wait in my room and make sure to be super sneaky so mom and dad don't know we're going okay?"
"Okay..." he repeated, rubbing his eyes before following her.
The badass parents screaming match rung in her ears as she gathered some things-- Nico's toothbrush, some of his clothes and his teddy bear that she had gotten him two years ago-- then she wrote out a quick note to her mom:
[ I've got Nico. Staying somewhere else for the night. ]
-L
She left it on his desk before shoving the items in a bag and going to her room.
Adrenaline and anger coursed through her as she walked back down the hall.
"C'mon, Nics. Let's go!" She said before carrying him through the window. Carefully, they got down and made their way to the front yard.
Not wanting to put Nico at risks, she decided taking her old beat-up 1986 Hyundai Excel was a better choice than the motorcycle, (she spent all her money on the Harley).
Nico climbed in and Lisa made sure to buckle him in.
"I can do it, Lili!" He said, trying to pry the seatbelt from his sister's hands.
"I know Nics-- I just wanna be extra safe, mmkay?" When she was satisfied, she got in her drivers seat, pulling out fast and not looking back. Just in case her parents heard the engine. She didn't want to deal with them right now.
"Thanks for taking me away, Lis."
"No problem, Nics." She said smiling at the boy.
But really, she was fucking frustrated. It was always like this. Always the same damn mistakes. Always the same fight. Didn't they know that Nico was right upstairs everytime?
Letting out an angry sigh, she pulled over.
"Uhmm... are we-- are we stay here?" Nico asked.
"No-- I just have to make a quick phone call."
