"Yeah sure, no... my mom is out of town... no, I understand. You're welcome anytime... o-okay, see you soon." Rosé said into her phone after it rang, interrupting the girls' movie.
"Who was that?" Jennie asked.
"It was Lisa, she's coming over."
"What? Why?" Jennie's tone was harsher than she meant it to be. She didn't want to interact with the blonde anymore than she had, not just because she disliked her but also because... she was beginning to like her.
Okay 'Like' wasn't the correct word-- more like... tolerate.
"I'm not sure, she just said it was a family emergency," Rosé explained vaguely.
"Well," the head cheerleader sighed. "There goes our eventful night of movies and junk foods."
"What, Lis can't watch movies with us?"
"I don't think it would be a good idea if I stayed if she's going to be here."
"C'mon Jen, I thought you guys were getting along now! You two are dating after all?" The hot nerd smirked.
"Yeah well, our relationship is strictly business!"
"Please just stay. Pleeeeease? I'm sure she won't mind," the red headed girl pouted and used her big eyes to her advantage.
Truthfully, Rosé just wanted to to see how they'll interact with each other without having to pretend they were dating-- to deduce if either of them could be developing something more than hostility. Hopefully, a friendship at the very least.
Jennie caved in when her lower lip started to tremble slightly.
"Urgh fine... but you owe me one though," the brunette agreed reluctantly.
"Yaaaaayy! Thanks Jennie!" She squeaked, hugging her tightly and then the doorbell rang. "Yikes, just on time!"
Jennie followed her friend to the door, staying back while she answered it.
The last thing she expected was a small boy with a mess of brunette hair to come jumping into Rosè' arms.
"Loshyyy!" Nico exclaimed as he clung tightly to her.
"Little Nics!" She said with equal enthusiasm, hugging him back. Then the door open more to reveal Lisa.
"Jennie?" The blonde said in surprised. Jennie looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Among the shock in the badass' eyes was anger and frustration, but her whole face screamed sadness.
"Uhm... hey?" She said forcing out a small smile. It was evident that Lisa wouldn't be in a teasing mode.
"Lisa, are you okay?" Rosé asked, still holding Nico in her arms.
"Can I talk to you... alone?" Lisa asked. Jennie was offended slightly until she saw that the blonde's eyes darted to what she assumed to be her brother's and not hers.
"Yeah sure, Lis. Uhm... Jennie?" At the mention of her name, the head cheerleader stopped staring at the tall dancer and looked at Rosé.
"Yeah?"
"Uhh... can you watch Nico for a sec?"
"Err... uh. Yeah o--okay," Jennie stuttered. Rosé lifted Nico and set him on the ground, and Lisa knelt down.
"Mmkay Nics, you're gonna hang out with my friend Jennie while I talk to Chae, okay?"
"Mmkay, Lis~!" The boy said, kissing her cheek. Jennie's heart leapt (Involuntarily) when she heard her call Jennie her friend, then again at her sweetness towards her brother.
The two girls disappeared into the dining room and Jennie was left with the small child.
Let's be honest, Jennie was not the ideal babysitter. She cussed too much, knew nothing about what a kid liked, was scared of getting their sticky hands all over her designer clothes, and she was as temperamental as any kid-- or probably way more worst.
"Uhm... do you want to sit on the couch?" She asked him.
"Okay!" He did as she said and belly flopped onto the couch. The Korean girl gingerly sat next to him, afraid he might tackle her or spit in her face or something equally as disgusting.
"You are Li's fliend?" He asked with bright eyes that matched his sister's.
"Yup, Jennie." His grin widened and he stuck out his small hand out at her.
"I'm Nico," thrown off by his politeness, she took his hand and shook it.
"I'm glad you are Li's fliend-- she don't have many..." he said sadly.
"She has Rosé, and she's the best."
"Yeah~! I leally like Loshy! She's leally fun and shper nice. And she's pertty..." the small boy said quietly, his cheeks reddening. Jennie was starting to relax a little, after realizing that this kid wasn't what she expected at all.
"... You'rl leally pertty too, Nennie."
Now her cheeks were flushing, she couldn't help but admit that he was cute too.
"You're pretty handsome yourself, little Manoban."
"Thanks."
[â¢â¢â¢]
"What's going on, Lisa?" Rosé asked as they sat down at the dining room table.
"It's my goddamn parents again!" Lisa said, trying to let out her frustration while making sure not to be too loud.
"Same thing?" The red headed girl asked, feeling sad for her friend. The badass had told Rosé about her family troubles before but she was usually can be able to deal with them herself. But this time...
"It was worse this time, Chae. Dad was even worse... I didn't even want to try to deal with him. Either of them, I just wanted Nico out." Rosé sighed and pulled her head down so she was leaning on her shoulder.
"It'll be okay, Lis. You can stay here whenever."
"I know but... I just don't understand. Why does she even let him in the house anymore? Last week I saw him sleeping on the couch-- I got so mad at her. She said that he showed up crying and pleading for forgiveness so she let him sleep there 'Just for the night' because he was 'Sober'. Two hours later he was gone-- then he came back drunk.
"I'm sorry, Lis."
"I'm scared, Chaeng-- so scared. What if he gets so wasted he hurts Nico? Or mom?" Rosé had never seen Lisa cry but she could hear the tears in her voice.
"We'll figure something out, Lisa. He hasn't hurt any of you yet, has he?"
Lisa hesitated for a moment but then uttered a small; "N--no..."
"Good. You'll get through this, Lis. You're one of the strongest people I know."
"Thank you Chae, for being there for me all the time."
"No problem," they smiled at each other before Lisa sat up.
"It's late and Nico has school tomorrow, I better put him in bed."
"Okay, I'll get the spare bed ready."
Lisa made her way to the living room and for the first time since coming home, she genuinely smiled.
Nico was all curled up in a ball position, his head resting in Jennie's lap. While the brunette sat rigid and awkward. Her arms were by her side, not touching him like she was afraid any movement would wake him up. She couldn't help but find Jennie's fear cute.
"I uhh... he just sorta fell asleep," she said, still un-moving.
"It's funny how terrified you look right now," Lisa commented. And instead of the usual glare, the head cheerleader blushed.
"What if he wakes up?" She whispered.
"Then he wakes up! It's not like he'll turn into the Incredible Hulk or anything," with that, Lisa approaches both of them and picks Nico up. Jennie tries not to flinch when an arm brushes her thighs.
"Lis..?" Nico mumbled.
"Sorry, Little Nics. You're gonna go to sleep in a bed now okay?"
"Mmkay..." Jennie watched as she walked away, astonished.
How could this be the same girl that fucked anyone who looked at her and threw nerds in dumpster, or fight FOOTBALL players? There was no way.
"You're not falling for her, are you?" Rosé sing-songed. Jennie's head snapped so fast she's surprised it didn't snap off.
"What? Of course not! I was just thinking about how sweet she was with Nico!" Jennie quickly explained.
"I'm just messing with you, Jen. And honestly, when I first saw them interact I was confused too but... well, let's just say that I know why she is the way she is."
"You mean why she is an annoying, pretentious, player?"
"Yeah. I know her just like I know why you're a stuck up bitch."
"Hey!"
"You know it's true," Jennie rolled her eyes before she got up the nerve to ask. "So why is she... YOU know?"
"That's for her to tell if she wants to," Rosé smirked. Then she got up, "I'm going to bed-- you're welcome to stay if you want." With that, she disappeared upstairs.
Great. Now Jennie was really fucking curious, but for once she was actually cautious about asking. Whatever was going on with Lisa was obviously bad and they had just started to sort of get along; it wasn't really her place to ask...
"Hey princess, what's got you all serious looking?" Lisa asked sauntering into the living room. She was now clad in REALLY short sleep shorts and a too small tank-top, obviously they were Rosé's clothes but really? She couldn't have leant her sweatpants?
"Just uhhh... homework, yeahh I have a big essay due." She lied.
"That sucks," the badass replied shortly before proceeding into the kitchen. "Do you want a beer?" She asked taking out a can.
"Whoa Lisa!" She protested.
Sure, after Rosé's parents got divorced, Jiyeon Park got less uptight but--! She wasn't THAT loose.
"Oh aunt Jiyeon won't mind. Besides, I'll just replace it... some time." She cracked the can open and took a sip, "So do you want some?"
"...ugh, yes." She said. The Thai girl smiled and handed her a can before plopping down next to her.
They sat there for a while just drinking and not talking. Jennie was still having an inner battle with herself about what to say to Lisa (Plus, the blonde's legs were distracting her wayyy too much.)
Lisa on the other hand was thinking about how she was gonna solve her parental issues.
"So... your brother's really adorable," Jennie finally puked out.
"Yeah... he is a little cutie, isn't he?" Lisa chuckled.
"I'm gonna be honest here... kids kind of scare me." Lisa snickered.
"I know, I could tell. You're an only child aren't you?" Jennie nodded.
"Ha~! No wonder you're so spoiled..." the Korean girl glared at her, even if she knew it was true.
"You're missing out though, having a sibling can be a piss in your ass sometimes but the good moments could make up the bad ones." Lisa smiled sadly and Jennie had the sudden urge to make her feel better, or at least take her mind off of whatever was on her mind.
"So we're friends now huh?"
"Well, I didn't want to tell Nico that we were enemies that are fake dating just to make your shitty ex-boyfriend jealous." Lisa said with a smirked on her face, so Jennie let it slide. "But we have been acting more civil, maybe we are... you know? Friends," she continued slowly.
It caught Jennie off guard-- actually; this whole damn night caught her off guard.
"Y-- yeah, that would be... yeah," she started. "But I still think you're annoying as fuck."
"And I still think you're just a bitch, socially-- obssessed cheerleader who needs a fuck. So we're even." 'That was smooth' Jennie thinks as she can't help but smiled timidly at the blonde.
"Even."
After watching a couple episodes of The K2 and two beers later, it was 11:00 pm. They didn't talk much, just about random crap like the Drama Arts assignment, how their extra curricular's were, and admitting that Yoona was Jennie's role model whilst Lisa stating that she's probably a freak in bed.
"So what kind of dancing do you do?"
"Mostly Contemporary and West Coast Swing but I really like Hip-Hop and Tango."
"What's... West Coast Swing?"
"It's like Swing but more high paced, you should look it up sometime."
"OR I could just watch you..." Jennie said. She actually really wanted to see if Lisa could dance or not. If her abs were any indication of how good she was then she must've been a freaking professional.
"You'd really want to take time to watch me perform? Lisa asked incredulously, eyes widening.
"Well, we are friends right?"
"Actually, we're girlfriends."
"FAKE girlfriends," Jennie reminded.
"Right," their eyes diverted back to the television when the conversion slowed until Jennie let out a yawn.
"Fuck, I'm tired."
"Well then, sleep."
"I plan to..." she grabbed a throw pillow and placed it on the arm of the couch before laying her head on top of it.
It was awkward because she had her feet still on the ground but what could she do? Lisa was right there, she was too lazy to walk home, she didn't want to wake Rosé and Nico was in the guess room-- and there was no way she was sleeping in aunt Jiyeon's bed.
"You look stupid," Lisa commented, watching her trying to shift into a comfortable position.
Jennie cracked an eye open to look at the blonde.
"Shuddup." Lisa scoffed.
"Come here," Intrigued, Jennie sat up to look at her. Lisa adjusted herself before putting her arm on the back of the couch, inviting her to lay in her. The Korean girl raised an eyebrow; did she really expect her to cuddle right now?
"I'm not going to bite. Besides, if we're both gonna sleep in this god-awful couch, we might as well be as comfortable as possible." Lisa reasoned.
Deciding that she was just too damn tired and a little bit tipsy, she lay in Lisa's arms. The blonde adjusted themselves so that they both can lie comfortably. The Thailander girl's arms draped over Jennie's side and their legs were pressed together.
Before Jennie could scold herself for how wrong and weird this was, she slipped into unconsciousness.
Lisa still wasn't that tired but she felt bad for taking Jennie's bed, so it was the least she could do. Her mind was still running a hundred miles a minute and she wondered if her phone had gotten any messages from her mom who was most likely worried. She really didn't know what to do about her dad.
Sighing, she settled under the weight of Jennie, wondering how her life got so messed up that she was now letting one of her biggest 'Enemies' sleep on her. She looked down at her sleeping friend's (Still feel weird thinking it) face.
Lisa had to admit, as she has before, that Jennie was really goddamn gorgeous. Sure she had seen it before but she really never had the time to actually look at it. Plus, it was different without the scowl or her smirk. She looked so relaxed and peaceful-- she looked... stunningly beautiful.
Not just her face either, her dirty mind noted. But the rest of her body too. Her breasts were just-- ugh! Definitely squeezable and suckable, and she imagined that all that cheerleading made her stomach ALMOST as toned as her own. And even though she was slightly shorter than Lisa, her creamy smooth legs seemed to go on forever.
Lisa used to think Jennie was just beautiful on the outside, but now that she had gotten to know her-- saw how careful she had been with Nico despite her irrarional fear of kids. Well now, she wasn't so sure she had a rotten inside.
Suddenly, Lisa felt very self aware that she was basically staring at Jennie in her sleep like a creeper and she shut her eyes tight. Trying not to think about everything that transpired that day.
That night she dreamt of escaping houses, drunken hoarders, and mysterious glowing chinky eyes.
If Rosé was a bitch, she WOULD have taken a picture of her two friends cuddling and posted it on Instagram or JHS's site. But instead, she took a picture and saved it for future use. She wasn't sure if they had willingly got into that position or if they somehow shifted in their sleep but either way, they were a mess of tangled limbs and Jennie's head was nuzzled securely under Lisa's chin, both sleeping soundly.
Rosé wondered how either of them could breathe with each other's hair all up in their faces. She knew one thing for sure though; they definitely liked each other more than either of them were letting on.
