Chapter 689
The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac)
Chapter 689 Ever since participating in the local Parent-Child event, Isaac and Danielâs relationship had grown noticeably closer.
Brittany had been collaborating actively with Wesley, gearing up for an upcoming bid.
She rallied her entire design team, pulling all-nighters for a week straight, in order to finalize the first draft.
Once the draft was handed to Wesley, they waited anxiously for his feedback.
Finally catching a break, Brittany chose to sleep in the office lounge instead of heading home, snoozing so soundly it was as if sheâd blacked out.
When she woke up, she received a call from Wesley. He said, âIâve looked through the draft. Iâve arranged a dinner with the bid committee tonight.
Weâll discuss the direction.â
âAll right.â
Brittany was exhausted, but she was determined to win that project.
She headed back to her apartment at Radiant Residences, washing away the fatigue and changing into a dashing black and white ensemble. As she was leaving, Emily brought her a bowl of chicken soup.
âMs. Dustin, youâve barely been home this week. Youâre losing weight. Have some soup before you go.â
âEmily, I have a dinner to attend.â
She was running late.
âBut thatâs why you need to have something in your stomach,â Emily reassured her. âDonât worry. Iâll have the driver take you. Just have some soup.â
Not wanting to upset Emily, Brittany sat at the kitchen table and finished the bowl of chicken soup under her watchful gaze. Before she left, Brittany turned to Emily. âEmily, thank you.â
Emily smiled and responded, âMs. Dustin, you better get going. Be careful on the road and donât drink too much.â
After Brittany left, Emily called Isaac. âYes, Ms. Dustin had the soup. Sheâs lost weight, but sheâs holding up well.â
Brittany was none the wiser.
Once in the car, she gave the driver the restaurant address and leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes for some quick rest.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Brittany got out of the car.
âMs. Dustin, Iâll wait for you here. Call me when youâre done.â The driver reminded her âOkay.â
As Brittany got out of the car and turned around, she spotted Shona Bennett standing close by.
âMs. Dustin.â
Shona greeted the driver and then turned to Brittany before asking, âCan we talk?â
Checking her watch, Brittany saw that she still had half an hour before her dinner and replied, âMs. Bennett, I have a dinner to attend to in a bit. Is ten minutes enough?â
Shona had been wanting to talk to Brittany for a while.
But she never found the right opportunity. During the previous wedding banquet, she wanted to talk to Brittany, but then the incident with William Dillion happened, and she didnât get a chance.
That day, she happened to be in the area and couldnât resist when she saw Brittany.
âThatâs enough.â Shona led the way. âFollow me.â
Brittany followed Shona into the restaurant, one of the most upscale in Imperial City. The private rooms were understated yet luxurious.
Once they were in the room, Shona poured Brittany a cup of water. âActually, Iâve been wanting to talk to you for a while, but I never had the chance.â
Brittany accepted the water. âMs. Bennett, are you referring to the incident five years ago?â
Shona smirked. âI know more about what happened five years ago than you do, Ms. Dustin. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.â
âThereâs nothing I want to know.â Brittany shook her head.
Who was right or wrong five years prior didnât matter.

Shona felt a pang of sympathy for Isaac when she heard that. No wonder Brittany had been back for so long, and he still hadnât opened up about what happened five years before. It wasnât that he couldnât speak, but rather, Brittany simply didnât care about the truth of what had happened five years prior.
She didnât even care whether the engagement party five years before was real or fake.
