After the call ended, Brittany leaned on the steering wheel, taking a long while to calm down.

When Brittany got home, Daniel was seated on the thick carpet, a science book spread out before him.

Brittany changed her shoes and walked over to Daniel.

“Daniel Salter.”

Daniel was taken aback by her severity and looked up, “Mom, what’s wrong?”

“Are you hiding something from me?”

Brittany didn’t understand why Daniel would cover up for Joie.
