Chapter 34
My Step-Dad Is My Mate
"Come on. Just a little farther.â I said as I jumped over a fallen log.
"Where are you taking us?" My mother asked
"That's what I wanna know.." Aiden muttered while he trudged behind
lazily. Let's just say he's a little cranky because I woke him up from his
nap.
Kaden rolled his eyes and continued to walk beside me with no
complaints. Since our date last night, he's been in a particularly good
mood, but He too, had no idea where I was taking all of them but it was
nothing bad, actually it was to help all of us.
The date we had was great, but nothing out of the way or spectacular a.
A simple dinner and a walk around the Riverlane Park (I don't know if
that's a real place.)
He had told me he wasn't big on romance but I didn't mind, I'm just
glad we had no disturbances or any unwanted surprises.
I nudged Kaden's shoulder and he looked over at me. "Thank you for
not complaining like these two."
"Heard that." Aiden said and I chuckled.
"You're welcome" Kaden replied, "But I am curious just as much as they
are. Where are you taking us?"
I shrugged and didn't reply as we trudged on.
"Here we are,â I said as we stepped into my Haven, "This is a special
place to me. I've known it for years and it's always given me...solace and
comfort.â I finished, as I gently brushed my fingertips along the petals
of the white roses
"This place is beautiful.â My mother muttered.
I nodded proudly as they stood admiring the large space. Except Aiden
since he's already been here once.
"So this is what you wanted to show us?" Kaden asked and I wrinkled
my nose.
"So so. Can you all sit?" I asked and Aiden slightly groaned and
mumbled about having to dirty his clothes because he didn't have any
extra.
"It's the forest idiot. There's extra all over the place in the trees. Now sit
down." Kaden said with an eye roll and Aiden sat down with a loud
grunt.
Mom sat quietly on her knees and Kaden was squatted down with his
hands clasped.
"Now what?" My mom asked.
"Come on!" I shouted with my head down, "Come on down. I know
you're watching."
"Who are you-"
The branches a bit ahead of us began to rustle and a few leaves fell to
the grassy floor and then down came Richard, landing perfectly on both
feet.
"Oh God, not again.." Mom muttered.
"Seriously Danica?" Kaden asked with a growl and I held up my hands.
"He's not here to cause any trouble-"
"I don't even know why you called me.â Richard said, cutting me off.
"-he's needed here, with all of us. Because I have something to say to
each of you, including him.
So please, no fighting.â I finished.
Aiden raised a brow but didn't say anything more. Kaden looked at me
and I could tell he was really annoyed with the fact Richard was here
but this was important and may very well be, the last page to this
chapter in our lives.
