Chapter 371: 371 Enthusiastic Yasser Davenport_1
Legend of Dragon Son-in-law
Yasser Davenport, Julius Reed remembered him well.
A local of Gonzalez City, a high school classmate from Quella Radcliffe High School and considered a close friend.
On his wedding day, Yasser Davenport was even a member of the groomsmen.
After all, Julius Reed wasnât a local and didnât have any relatives there, so the groomsmen were all arranged by the Radcliffe Family.
The Radcliffe Family, being a large clan, had quite a few people turn up on the wedding day.
Many were there to see the spectacle, and even the groomsmen arranged by the Radcliffes looked down on Julius Reed with contempt, utterly despising him in their hearts.
It was only Yasser Davenport who was different; this chubby fellow even gave Julius Reed a red envelope with a thousand yuan in it, and although it was later confiscated by Quella Radcliffe, it was the only red envelope Reed had received.
The reason he hadnât recognized him just now was that Yasser Davenport had changed too much in the past four years, having become completely unrecognizable.
From the chubby boy before, he had slimmed down to just over a hundred pounds and, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, was utterly indistinguishable from the fat boy he used to be.
Through their conversation, Julius Reed learned that Yasser Davenport went to the Northeast three years ago to start a plumbing business.
He had made quite a bit of money in those three years, but he had spent a lot on bribes, leaving only a few billion to bring back to Gonzalez City.
Such ability was indeed enticing, and Bran Cook had approached Yasser Davenport because of this achievement.
Otherwise, relying on the nearly bankrupt factory owned by the Davenport Family alone, he wouldnât have been worthy of Bran Cookâs attention.
âBrother, do you and Quentin Radcliffe have any children?â Yasser Davenport asked with a cheerful smile.
This question indeed gave Julius Reed a bit of a headache. He replied with a wry smile, âTo tell you the truth, itâs been almost four years now, and she still wonât let me touch her.â
This was common knowledge in Gonzalez City, and there was no need to hide it.
âAh, be patient, constant dripping wears away the stone! Quentin Radcliffe, you know, is a sharp-tongued but soft-hearted person. Donât be fooled by how cold she seems all the time; sheâs actually very warm-hearted.â As someone who went to high school with Quentin, Yasser Davenport had a good understanding of her to be friends.
âThatâs true.â
Julius Reed nodded his head.
Yasser Davenport had just returned; surely he was unaware of Quentin Radcliffeâs current situation.
Since Julius Reed perceived himself subconsciously as that son-in-law, and out of respect for his friend, Yasser Davenport also maintained his enthusiasm towards Reed.
This was rare, a man without any designs on Quentin Radcliffe.
Their relationship was purely that of friends, utterly innocent.
âBack then, when I couldnât finish my homework, I relied completely on copying from Quentin.â
Yasser Davenport chuckled, as if he was transported back to the junior high days.
âLater, when I got into a fight and injured someone, I didnât dare tell my family. It was Quentin who lent me her pocket money. So brother, try harder to become a dad sooner.â
âSir, please park over this way.â
As the car approached the entrance of the club, several security guards hurried over with smiles on their faces.
Yasser Davenportâs Rolls-Royce was worth over five million, and the guards might not know much else, but they certainly knew cars very well.
Being a job thatâs all about sizing up people, the sight of the Rolls-Royce coming in made them behave completely differently from how they treated Julius Reed a short while ago.
The guards eagerly stood in the hotel corridor, directing the parking.
âHey, isnât this the same guy who bumped into our little guy just now? He even dares to come back?â
No sooner had Julius Reed stepped down from the car than he was recognized by one of the security guards.
âRight! This son of a bitch made me really sore when he bumped into me. Today, weâve got to catch him and give him a good thrashing!â
âAnd the medical expenses!â
As he spoke, the security guards cracked their knuckles and quickly surrounded Julius Reed.
âWhat are you doing!â
Yasser Davenport had just parked his car when he saw Julius Reed being attacked by the security guards. He hurried over and fiercely slapped one of the guards across the face.
âPicking on someone just because you can! Iâm a guest of Bran Cookâs son, and this is my friend! Youâre really a bunch of blind bastards. Try messing with him again and see what happens!â
Having been slapped, the guard stood up from the ground and had to hold his face and apologize: âYes, yes, we wonât dare to do it again.â
Seeing Yasser Davenportâs attitude, the other guards didnât dare to make another sound and quickly retreated to their positions.
âBrother, donât stoop to their level. They all look down on people; thereâs nothing we can do.â Yasser Davenport patted Julius Reedâs shoulder and comforted him, âActually, the Radcliffe Family is a prominent household in Gonzalez City. If you claim to be Radcliffeâs son-in-law⦠Ah, nevermind. If you need anything in the future, just tell me.â
Yasser Davenport clearly remembered how people called Julius Reed a freeloader and a worthless person, which made him stop mid-sentence.
âItâs okay, Iâm used to it.â
Julius Reed smiled faintly, somewhat moved by Yasser Davenportâs friendly gesture.
It was already commendable to stand by and watch when everyone was stepping on you, but Yasser Davenport was clearly someone willing to lend a hand.
âI tell you, the people in this room are all local rich second generations, quite arrogant. After you go in, try to speak as little as possible. I will introduce you to a few decent ones to get to know. Who knows, they might come in handy if you do business.â
Although he hadnât returned to Gonzalez City for many years, he had heard plenty of rumors.
Everyone said Julius Reed was a freeloader and a worthless person, so he thought of helping Julius Reed build some connections to start a business of his own.
The private club was very large, even bigger than Ovidiu Cookâs Twilight Mansion.
Ever since Miguel Abbott ran into trouble, Julius Reed had told Ovidiu Cook to hold his forces and act low-key to avoid becoming a target of the Boulevard Leagueâs Shadow Warrior.
And Bane Cook was also alert for enemies trying to invade, protecting the safety of Titan Group.
Otherwise, if Ovidiu Cook got involved, these local businesses wouldnât dare to challenge the Radcliffe Family.
At this moment, in the innermost part of the club, men and women were drinking and dancing, having the time of their lives.
âQuella Radcliffe, Bran Cook is generous with his spending. Accompany him well today, and you will certainly be able to borrow the money,â a seductive woman said to Quella Radcliffe, sitting beside her with a smile.
âExactly, Quella Radcliffe. We are high school classmates after all. Aside from class reunions, we rarely get to meet. I heard today that your company urgently needs funds for cash flow, so I thought of connecting you with Bran Cook. Do you know? Bran Cook has many friends in the capital. In just one year, heâs made a lot of money!â
Two of Quella Radcliffeâs high school classmates sat by the table, continuously urging her.
âQuella Radcliffe, I think they have bad intentions,â Anna Harris murmured with furrowed brows.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
However, the voice, though soft, reached the ears of the two.
âWho are you to talk nonsense here! If it werenât for the sake of our classmateâs face, why would we make an exception to invite you to this classy place? Your company is about to go bankrupt, yet you dare put on airs here. In all of Gonzalez City, not even the banks are willing to lend you money; donât you realize whatâs going on?â
One of the women scoffed coldly, looking at Anna Harris with disdain.
âExactly, apart from Bran Cook, who would dare lend you money? Quella Radcliffe, youâre now the rat that everybody wants to strike!â
Another person chimed in.
The Radcliffe Group had undergone a tremendous turn of events in just a few days, and the whole upper circle of Gonzalez City knew about it.
Banks refused to provide loans, wealthy businessmen withdrew their investmentsâalmost dooming the Radcliffe Group!
âExcuse me, is this Miss Quentin Radcliffe?â
Just then, a handsome young man walked over, holding a glass of red wine.
