Chapter 416: 416 Encountering Enemies_1
Legend of Dragon Son-in-law
The group had their fill, and with the managerâs expulsion, Knox Ridge was spared the expense of the meal.
When she heard the meal and drinks would cost two hundred thousand, Knox Ridge was frightened to the point of nearly fainting on the spot.
Where could she get two hundred thousand?
A meal costing two hundred thousandâthat was the yearly income for her and Burl Radcliffe.
However, fortunately for her, the managerâs act of sending them away charged the expense to Lewis Leocadia.
âThey wonât have any trouble, will they?â
Burl Radcliffe paced anxiously in the lobby on the first floor.
âWhat trouble could they have, Auntieâs family is rich. Look at Lewis Leocadia, heâs a big boss, a mere three hundred thousand is just pocket change to him,â
Julius Reed said with a smile.
âThatâs true!â
Knox Ridge nodded her head, considering Bryson Ridgeâs financial situation over the past few years, it seemed like they had quite a bit of money.
Lewis Leocadia had an air of extravagance about him, clearly the demeanor of a big boss.
Three hundred thousand was a lot, but for a boss, it shouldnât be a problem.
Yet, Knox Ridge had a nagging feeling that there was something off about Juliusâ remark, but she couldnât quite put her finger on it.
âYou as well! Itâs just an old car, why make such a fuss about it! Thatâs my nieceâs son, after all!â
She looked at Julius Reed reproachfully.
After all, he was her nephew, but at the dining table she felt somewhat indignant and didnât let Julius handle the situation.
But after coming out, she regretted it.
âMom! What did Julius do wrong? Lewis Leocadia has been mocking him throughout the meal, trying to find a sense of superiority over Julius. After all, Julius is one of us, you canât always be like this!â
Quella Radcliffe said, clearly upset.
Julius Reed had done so much for them, but why couldnât these people ever be satisfied?
âEnough, Iâm very frustrated!â
Knox Ridge glanced at Julius Reed, then quickly turned her head.
She and Burl Radcliffe had taken several hundred thousand from Bran Cook, promising to convince their daughter.
But it looked like Quella Radcliffe was genuinely fond of Julius Reed, which made things difficult for the old couple.
Yet as difficult as it might be, they still had to deal with it!
Who was Bran Cook?n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The best young man in Gonzalez City!
Among the younger generation, nobody could compare to Bran Cook.
If Quella Radcliffe truly married into that family, the old couple could live without worries about food and clothing, and Knox Ridge would have something to brag about.
She wouldnât have to fear being laughed at whenever she went out with Julius Reed, like she did now.
Before long, Lewis Leocadia and Bryson Ridge came down looking dishevelled.
They took out the only two hundred thousand they had, made out an IOU for the remaining hundred thousand, and asked to borrow the amount within a day; otherwise, they wouldnât be allowed to leave the restaurant.
âSis, lend us a hundred thousand!â
Bryson Ridge said, her voice filled with discomfort.
Asking for a loan was the most shameful thing to do.
Yet, they brought just over two hundred thousand for this trip. After deducting the cost of airfare and various other expenses, only two hundred thousand was left.
All taken by the hotel.
Now with a debt of a hundred thousand, they could only turn to Knox Ridge for a loan.
âWhat? Isnât Lewis Leocadia the boss? He doesnât have three hundred thousand?â
Knox Ridge thought she had heard wrong.
How could Bryson Ridge, who was so concerned with appearances, possibly ask for a loan? Once they borrowed money, it would mean they were worse off than Knox Ridgeâhow could that be?
âLewisâ company couldnât transfer the funds conveniently, and itâs somewhat urgent. Weâll repay you in a day or two,â
Bryson Ridge said through gritted teeth.
Where were they to get the money? They made a call to Lewis Leocadiaâs wife abroad, but she didnât pick up at all.
Celeste Leocadia had pulled out all their savings to make this mother and sonâs return to the homeland grand, leaving no savings behind.
Now they were in a situation where even heaven couldnât help them.
âWe agreed, youâll return it to me within two days!â
Knox Ridge felt some reluctance, having been frugal for so long, her heart ached whenever she lent out money.
But Lewis Leocadia was the company boss after all, and only then did she feel assured enough to lend the money to him.
After taking out a card from her pocket, she followed Bryson Ridge to the restaurantâs finance department and transferred one hundred thousand yuan.
âWhere do we go now?â
Lewis Leocadiaâs mood was exceptionally gloomy.
He had hoped to make a splash, but in the end, he had put in all his savings and still owed debts, leaving his mood at an all-time low.
âLetâs go back to sleep.â
Quella Radcliffe suggested returning to rest, not wanting to spend any more time with her own aunt and Lewis Leocadia.
âItâs still early, why donât we go to a KTV and sing for a while?â
Knox Ridgeâs spirits were still pretty good, not believing that her own Bryson Ridge had actually asked to borrow money.
Once she got back home for the New Year, she would spread the news, and eventually, the entire Ridge Family would know that Bryson Ridge had borrowed money from her.
How prestigious would that be!
âSure! I donât feel like going back yet either!â
Lewis Leocadia, feeling terrible, was in desperate need of a way to vent.
Without enough money for rent, they squeezed into a Passat and headed to a decently rated entertainment club in the Five-river Province.
The Bronze Sparrow Terrace!
Arriving there, Knox Ridge felt a bit pained, but if it could give her some prestige, then the money spent was worth it!
The Bronze Sparrow Terrace had long been famous in the Five-river Province, reportedly owned by Aron Jackson.
In all of Gonzalez City, there was no better place for entertainment.
After entering, Julius Reed didnât reveal his identity and acted just like a regular patron looking to have some fun.
Since it was Knox Ridge paying, he might as well enjoy himself.
However, when they went upstairs, they ran into a group of youths who started pointing and whispering upon seeing Julius Reed.
Julius Reed, always keenly intuitive, said to Quella Radcliffe, âYou guys go ahead, I need to use the restroom.â
âSuch a buzzkill! Hurry up and go!â
After Lewis Leocadia cursed, he entered the private room and began to sing his heart out.
Meanwhile, Julius Reed followed the group of youths to the restroom.
âThat guy looks like Amos Davenport, he has a feud with our Bran Cook, should we beat him up a bit later?â
âSure! I heard that brat snatched Bran Cookâs girl and even beat Bran Cook up! If we teach him a lesson, Bran Cook is sure to be pleased.â
âWe should tell Brother Percival first and let him make the decision.â
After their discussion, they each washed their hands and returned to their private room.
âBrother Percival!â
âWhere have you been! You took so long! If you werenât three men, Iâd suspect you guys had something going on!â
A young man lounged with his legs crossed, cursing with a laugh, prompting raucous laughter from everyone in the room.
He was Zane Percival, celebrating his birthday today, having brought his friends to a KTV for some fun.
âYounger Percival, we just saw that Amos Davenport!â
One of them spoke up.
âAmos Davenport? Which Amos Davenport?â
Zane Percival, holding a beer bottle, felt the name was familiar yet couldnât quite remember who that was.
âItâs the guy from that banquet who humiliated Bran Cook.â
The young man reminded him.
âOh shoot! Itâs him! Damn, talk about enemies meeting on a narrow road!â
Zane Percival slapped his forehead and looked around the room, âGuys, Bran Cook has always been good to us. Now weâve stumbled upon this kid who did Cook wrong. What do you say we do?â
âBeat him up!â
They all shouted in unison.
âAlright! Iâll go over and suss things out first! You people wait here, and watch for my signal to act!â
Zane Percival picked up a beer bottle and headed towards the private room where Julius Reed was.
