Chapter 535: 535 Misunderstanding_1
Legend of Dragon Son-in-law
All the way, Julius Reed gloomily fell silent.
He had brought Sophia Leocadia here just to scare the girl away.
But now, to his dismay, she was unshakeable, not really scared at all.
Instead, she looked like someone who had passed a test and was in high spirits.
After all, a promise is worth its weight in gold, so Julius could only accept this loss in silence.
Who had he been to declare that if she wasnât scared, he wouldnât drive her away?
He had thought that by killing more than thirty people in one fell swoop, he could scare this young lady from a wealthy family.
Who knew that she wouldnât take it seriously at all!
Soon, the car arrived at the entrance to the mansion.
Aron Jackson yawned, looking very sleepy as he said to Julius, âBoss, Iâm going to go back to sleep. Call me if anything comes up.â
âGo ahead!â
Julius waved his hand and got out of the car.
It was already past five oâclock, and it was still pitch dark outside.
To ensure Juliusâs safety, Aron Jackson had arrived at the mansion entrance early and mobilized a large number of employees to closely monitor everything around them.
Now that the task was done, he was really tired.
After returning to his room, Julius tiptoed back to his own room.
Behind him, Sophia Leocadia was also walking lightly, intending to go back to sleep.
Clang!
Just then, the sound of something dropping on the floor startled them!
âOh, Julius! Youâre up so early, did you go out to buy us breakfast? But itâs Minor New Yearâs Day today, arenât we supposed to eat dumplings?â
Anna Harris came out of the bathroom with a toothbrush in her mouth and her toothpaste cup falling to the floor.
Seeing the two of them, she exclaimed even more in surprise, âThe two of you⦠did you go to a hotel last night?â
She walked up to Julius and muttered angrily, âJulius, youâre such a beast! Sheâs just a young girl, how could you! Arenât you afraid of being struck by lightning?â
âShush!â
Julius made a silencing gesture, pointing toward Quella Radcliffeâs room, âWhatâs gotten into you, getting up so early? Donât wake up Quella with your noise!â
Anna Harris was notoriously lazy, usually not getting up until eight or nine oâclock when she lived with them.
Now it was winter, and it was still dark at five in the morning. Why was Anna Harris up so early?
This didnât make sense!
âHa!â
Anna Harris took the toothbrush out of her mouth and scoffed at Julius, âWhat? Caught in the act and youâre afraid to speak up, worried your wife will hear? Julius, you really are such a good man!â
âWhat nonsense are you talking about? Anna, I warn you, donât spout nonsense! Sophia only had a fever; I took her to the emergency room to see a doctor, thatâs all.â
For Julius, it was like getting caught with mud in his pants â guilty even if innocent.
Coming back with Sophia Leocadia in the middle of the night and running into someone. How could he explain that?
Anyone would be suspicious.
Quella was still sleeping; he just hoped that Anna would keep her big mouth shut.
And not cause a commotion.
âWhat, youâre going to kill to silence me? Come at me!â
Anna stood on tiptoe, pointing to her own neck, âOkay, Julius, so youâre getting angry? Youâve been caught red-handed and you still have the nerve to argue!â
She closed her eyes, adopting a resigned-to-fate expression.
âUm, I felt a bit feverish in the middle of the night, and I didnât want to disturb you all, so I looked for Julius â after all, heâs the only man in the house. Miss Anna, youâve misunderstood.â
Sophia Leocadia joined in with a helplessly patient explanation.
She knew that at this moment, she absolutely couldnât damage the relationship between Julius and Quella.
As a woman herself, Sophia could see that Julius only had feelings for Quella and wasnât ready to make room for anyone else.
A smart woman knows how to please a man, not threaten him.
âHmph! Whether fever was there or not, who knows?â
Though deeply annoyed inside, Anna knew that Sophia had helped Dempsey Davenport, so she had to restrain herself somewhat.
If it had been someone else, Anna wouldâve slapped them and driven them out!
âAnna, youâre just a crazy woman!â
Julius muttered softly.
Although he was indeed at fault, he had never actually done anything to betray Quellaâs trust.
Now with Anna implicating him like this, it seemed as though he had committed a heinous crime!
âScumbag! Ptui!â
Anna Harris spat a mouthful of toothpaste foam onto the ground.
âWhatâs wrong?â
Just then, the door of Quella Radcliffeâs room slowly opened.
Quella Radcliffe, wearing a bear pajama, staggered out of her room, sleepy-eyed.
âHaha! Your man went out with another woman late at night and only just got back.â
Anna Harris glared at Julius Reed.
âQuella, itâs not what you thinkâ¦â
Sophia Leocadia said anxiously, âThereâs really nothing between me and Boss Davenport. I just⦠I just ran a fever and asked him to take me to see a doctor, thatâs allâ¦â
She was very worried, given that she herself felt guilty about the matter.
If it were any other woman going out late at night with her husband, sheâd be willing to grab a kitchen knife.
âItâs fine.â
Quella smiled, walked over, looked at Sophia Leocadia with concern, and asked, âAre you ok? We have some fever medication at home, you can use it for now.â
âNo⦠Iâm fine now, sister.â
Sophia Leocadiaâs face turned red, feeling deeply ashamed and lowered her head.
The kinder Quella acted, the more it troubled her conscience.
But could she really give up?
After pursuing for over a decade, now that she had finally met him, she couldnât bear to let go!
âJulius, Anna is about to leave, come back to bed with me. Itâs so cold outside, Iâve warmed up the bed for you.â
Quella turned and looked at Julius Reed, saying words that made her own heart race.
But there was no choice, she couldnât let her husband end up with someone else.
âAhâ¦â
Julius Reed froze.
Almost four years into their marriage, this was the first time Quella had been so proactive.
âThat⦠Quella, I didnât mean⦠I wasnât planning onâ¦â
âYouâre going out for work!â
Anna Harris hadnât finished her sentence when Quella and Julius Reed spoke in unison.
âGot it! I was planning to go down and buy some snacks for everyone! I wish you⦠a speedy delivery of a healthy baby!â
Anna Harris sighed in resignation, indeed putting love before friendship!
âHusband, come with me!ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Quella gently helped Julius Reed take off his jacket, took his hand, and walked towards the room.
Afterwards.
With a bang, the door was closed.
âWife, listen to me explain, I definitely didnâtâ¦â
âI believe you.â
Quella hugged him tightly and whispered, âBut, you must never betray me.â
âAhâ¦â
Julius Reedâs head buzzed at the thought.
Is thisâ¦
Her laying down the cards?
Almost four years into their marriage, Quella had finally accepted him as her husband!
âI wonât, I swear to heaven!â
Julius Reed raised a hand but was stopped by Quella: âLetâs just go to bed.â
She pulled Julius Reed to the window and as she dove under the covers, her cheeks reddened like apples.
Quella was ready.
Whatever Julius Reed was going to do, she wouldnât refuse.
âHehe! Wife, Iâm coming!â
Julius Reed burrowed into the bed, relishing the moment.
Ever since Anna Harris moved in, he didnât get pampered like this.
But Quella waited for a while and saw no move from Julius Reed.
Just as she was about to turn around, she heard a faint snoring sound next to her ear.
