Chapter 579: Getting on the Wrong Car_1
Legend of Dragon Son-in-law
Five minutes later, a BMW parked in front of the Sheraton Hotel.
âMr. Reed, hello, I am the driver sent by Miss Huntington.â
After the car window rolled down, the man inside wearing sunglasses spoke up.
âVery good.â
Julius Reed directly pulled open the door and sat in the passenger seat.
Behind him, there were two other men, also wearing sunglasses.
âSo many people?â
Julius Reed, looking through the rearview mirror, said with a smile.
âThatâs right, Miss Huntington, in order to ensure your safety, specifically added more staff. Mr. Reed, do you have any concerns?â
The driver slowly started the vehicle while uneasily sizing up Julius Reed.
And the two people behind him were extremely nervous, their hands constantly resting on their waists.
âNothing, it seems your Miss likes me quite a bit, huh!â
Julius Reed joked with a laugh.
âOur Miss has always held Mr. Reed in high respect, so she specifically instructed to protect your safety when coming over.â
Sweat formed on the driverâs forehead, yet he forced a smile and said, âAs you know, things have been a bit tumultuous in Gonzalez City lately.â
âYes, I know. I just wonder how much your Miss really respects me. Tonight, will she end up climbing into my bed? Do you know?â
Julius Reed leaned closer to the driver, the two men behind him growing even more nervous, but they forcefully restrained themselves.
The car was still driving in the downtown area, the speed was not very fast, and there were many people around.
âThisâ¦â
The driver let out a forced laugh: âWhat happens between you and our Miss is not something us servants dare to meddle in! You will know once you get there.â
âOh! I got excited for nothing then. But do you know, not long ago, your Miss had an intimate encounter with me.â
Julius Reed took out his phone, glanced at it: âHuh, how come thereâs no signal? This is the downtown area!â
âWe are not sure either, perhaps thereâs line maintenance today?â
The driver said, attempting to explain.
âThen do you have cell phones with you? What if Miss Huntington canât reach me and becomes anxious?â
Julius Reed turned to the side, and the two bodyguards immediately shook their heads.
âHereâs the thing.â
The driver stopped at a traffic light and turned to explain, âWhen we go out on missions, we typically are not allowed to carry mobile phones, to prevent tracking of the other partyâs whereabouts.â
âQuite meticulous.â
Julius Reed nodded, sticking his phone out the window, âHey, it looks like thereâs a little signal now.â
âPerhaps, the signal is just not very good todayâ¦ân/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The driver narrowed his eyes and accelerated, heading toward the outskirts.
The speed of the car instantly soared, reaching over a hundred miles an hour in the downtown area.
âHey! Are you guys drag racing?â
Julius Reed barely managed to keep his seat, feeling the strong sensation of being pushed back suddenly.
âWeâre pressed for time, please bear with us.â
Sweat beads on the driverâs head grew more numerous as he pressed the gas pedal even harder.
The speed kept increasing.
âThis doesnât seem like the way to Miss Huntingtonâs place, does it?â
Julius Reed looked out the window at the streets as the BMW accelerated straight toward the suburbs.
If Itai Huntington was going to talk business, it couldnât possibly be in the suburbs.
And judging by the menu she described, it didnât sound like something youâd find in the suburbs either.
âThe Miss is in a farmhouse on the outskirts, the other party is someone who returned from abroad and is quite interested in these rural-themed restaurants.â
The driver kept on explaining while pushing the speed to over a hundred miles an hour.
On the open street, the BMW roared as it raced straight toward the suburbs.
âHey, that signal jammer is so heavy, you donât need to carry it on you, do you?â
About five minutes later, Julius Reed suddenly spoke up.
âWhat signal jammer? I donât know what youâre talking about.â
The man sitting in the back was visibly tense, stammering as he spoke.
At the same time, he subtly pushed something into the back of his waist.
âOh, should we stop and Iâll make a call to Miss Huntington?â
Julius Reed shook the cellphone in his hand, âLook, weâre already in the suburbs, and thereâs still no signal.â
âCut the fucking crap!â
Just then, a chill sensation came over them.
The bodyguard in the backseat pulled out a dart from his waist and aimed it at Julius Reedâs head.
âKeep it cool! Or Iâll blow your brains out with one dart!â
The man said viciously.
âWhatâs going on? I am Miss Huntingtonâs guest, have you lost your minds?â
Julius Reed feigned surprise, but a cold smile spread across his lips.
Sure enough, the foxâs tail couldnât be hidden anymore.
âHeh, Miss Huntington?â
The driver also let out a cold laugh, âWe are Miss Lopezâs men! Itai Huntington, that bitch, still has no clue about whatâs going on! I advise you to stay still, or weâll send you off this world directly.â
As he spoke, the man behind Julius Reed jabbed him with the dart again.
âWhat! Youâre not Itai Huntingtonâs men? Then how did you know I was going to attend Itai Huntingtonâs dinner party?â
Julius Reed acted extremely panicked, his voice even starting to quiver.
âHa! Scared now, arenât you?â
The driver finally relaxed; the fear had made his legs weak during the ride.
âIf youâd known this would happen today, why did you ever oppose our Miss Lopez? Thought you were somebody tough, made me scared as hell all the way here!â
âMiss Lopez? Jennifer Lopez?â
Julius Reedâs eyes widened as he seemed to suddenly realize something, âIt canât really be her, can it? She⦠sheâs come to Gonzalez City?â
Jennifer Lopez couldnât possibly be in Gonzalez City.
All of Gonzalez City was under Aron Jacksonâs watch. If Jennifer Lopez had come here, Julius Reed would have definitely been notified.
âShut up! You think you can call Miss Lopezâs name that casually?â
The driver said impatiently, âNumber Two, shut him up!â
âYou better fucking behave!â
Number Two jabbed the dart forward, threatening fiercely, âAnother word and Iâll smash your skull!â
âJennifer Lopez, that is indeed Miss Lopez. After all, I have photos of her getting cozy with a man. You guys interested?â
Julius Reed grinned at the three people in the car, his eyes brimming with sleaze.
âDamn it! I should blow his head off!â
Number Two seemed to be losing his patience.
âNo can do, Brother Beaumont said we need him alive.â
The driver hurriedly stopped his brotherâs impulsive thought, âIf you kill him, Miss Lopez will have your head.â
âBut he dared to insult Miss Lopez!â
Number Two fumed, his teeth itching to act, âCan we at least beat him up?â
âOf course not.â
Julius Reed turned around and extended his hand, âTake a look, what is this?â
âA dart?â
Number Twoâs eyes bulged in astonishment, âWhere did it come from?â
âSeems like itâs from your gun.â
Julius Reed smiled faintly, âSo now, who is the prey, and who is the Hunter?â
âImpossible!â
Number Two moved the dart to the right and pulled the trigger hard.
Click!
The sound of a dry fire.
âHow is this possible!â
Before he could react, Julius Reed jammed the dart into Number Twoâs brow with force.
