Chapter-58
You Are My Obsession Till Eternity
Author's Pov,
The new mansion, a sanctuary for Pihu, was filled with sunlight and fresh air. Her physical recovery was nearly complete, though she still couldn't walk much. Mentally, she continued to wrestle with nightmares, but Rudra was always there for her, whispering reassurances and holding her through the dark hours.
It was a serene evening, and Pihu sat outside in the lawn, the sun casting a warm, golden glow over the garden. The flowers were in full bloom, their colors vibrant against the lush green grass. Scar, Rudra's monstrous pet, now a gentle giant around Pihu, sat contentedly in front of her, enjoying her tender touch.
Pihu gently stroked Scar's fur, her fingers threading through the surprisingly soft hair. "Scar, you have such nice hair," she murmured, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Look at mine, so rough and tangled." Scar, his eyes closed in bliss, purred deeply whenever Pihu's fingers found the spot under his chin, the vibrations a soothing sound in the quiet garden.
Scar, despite his fearsome appearance, had become a source of comfort for Pihu. His loyalty to Rudra extended to her, and he seemed to sense her need for calm and companionship. The two had formed a unique bond, and Pihu found solace in his presence.
Rudra watched from a distance, his heart swelling with a complicated mix of emotions. He saw the way Scar responded to Pihu, the ferocious beast turning into a gentle creature under her touch. It was a stark reminder of the dual lives he led â the loving husband and the vengeful monster. He approached quietly, not wanting to disturb the peaceful moment.
Pihu looked up as Rudra came closer, a genuine smile lighting up her face. "Rudra, look at Scar. He's so cute and sweet. He's so calm and happy."
Rudra muttered under his breath, "Only if you knew." But still smiled, though his eyes held a shadow that Pihu couldn't see. "Scar has good taste. He knows how special you are, Pearl, and how lucky he is to be loved by you."
Pihu laughed softly, the sound a soothing balm to Rudra's soul. "I think he just likes the way I scratch his chin."
Rudra knelt beside her, his hand joining hers in petting Scar. The beast opened one eye lazily, acknowledging Rudra's presence before closing it again, content with the attention. "He knows you're kind," Rudra said softly, his eyes fixed on Pihu's face. "He can sense your gentle heart."
They sat there together, the sun setting in a blaze of colors, casting a warm glow over the garden. The shadows lengthened, but within their circle, a sense of peace and security prevailed. Scar purred contentedly, and for a moment, the world was perfect.
Their moment was interrupted by the ringing of Pihu's phone. She glanced at the caller ID and saw her mom was calling. Since deciding to give Rudra a chance two months ago, Pihu had kept her family and Shivani updated on everything, including her decision to stay with Rudra. Though they were wary of Rudra, they trusted Pihu's judgment.
"Hi, Mom," Pihu answered, her voice brightening.
As Pihu talked animatedly with her mother, Rudra's face turned stoic. He watched as her attention shifted away from him, feeling a familiar pang of possessiveness. He wanted her exclusively to himself, but he forced himself to stay calm. He had been attending therapy to control his obsession, trying his best to be the man Pihu needed. He knew he couldn't be perfect, but he was willing to try anything for her.
Scar, sensing the shift in Rudra's mood, opened his eyes. The beast's gaze sharpened as Pihu's hand stopped scratching his chin. He looked at Rudra, noting his father's frustration. Scar let out a soft purr, drawing Pihu's attention back to him. She smiled and resumed petting him while continuing her conversation.
Scar rested his chin on Pihu's lap, his eyes closing in contentment. He seemed to be mocking Rudra with his relaxed posture and satisfied purrs. Rudra narrowed his eyes at the beast, feeling a strange kinship with the animal over their shared desire for Pihu's undivided attention.
Pihu, oblivious to the silent battle of wills between Rudra and Scar, continued talking with her mother. She looked happier, more at ease, and that's all Rudra wanted. Despite his jealousy, he took solace in her happiness, vowing to continue working on himself for her sake.

Later That night
Pihu was making her way back to their room. The hallways were quiet, bathed in the soft glow of night lights. She pushed open the door and entered the room, her eyes finding Rudra immediately.
"Did you take your medicine?" Rudra asked, his voice gentle but firm.
"Umm, yes. I just took it," Pihu replied quickly, trying to sound convincing.
Rudra raised an eyebrow. "Really? Because the medicine packet was finished this morning, and I brought a new one. How did you take it?"
Caught off guard, Pihu stammered, "Oh, I forgot. You're right. I'll take it after I change my dress."
She headed into the bathroom, changing into her comfortable nightwear. When she returned, Rudra was waiting with the medicine and a glass of water.
Before she could protest, Rudra scooped her up in his arms, making her gasp. "Rudra!" she exclaimed, half-laughing, half-scolding.
"You didn't think you could get away that easily, did you?" he teased, carrying her to the bed. He gently placed her down and handed her the medicine. "Take it, Pearl. It's important for your recovery."
Pihu took the medicine, pouting slightly but unable to hide her smile. Rudra, seeing her pout, leaned in and kissed the tip of her nose. Smiling, he said, "Don't pout, baby. Or I won't be able to stop myself from tasting those sweet lips."
Pihu's face turned red as she blushed. She pushed him playfully, then covered herself with the duvet. Rudra got beside her, pulling the duvet from her face gently. "Be prepared, Pearl. Next time, you'll be the one asking me to kiss you."
He took Pihu's hand in his and placed it on his heart. He wanted to give her space but couldn't help being a little greedy for her attention. Pihu looked at him as he closed his eyes, but then she said, "Rudra, I want to say something." Rudra turned all his attention to her, looking into her eyes, gesturing for her to continue.
Pihu took a deep breath and said, "I want to go meet my family." She braced herself for an outburst, ready to face his wrath, but it didn't come.
Rudra's face remained neutral as he said, "You can't go." Her face fell, and she tried to pull her hand back from his hold, but he held it tightly.
He continued, "You can't go because you're not fully well yet. But I can arrange for them to come here to meet you."
Pihu blinked, not believing his words. She quickly added, "No, no, don't bring them here. My brothers have exams. Also, I want them to come only when I'm sure about our future together."
Rudra listened to her last words, his pupils dilating and darkening momentarily, but he maintained his patience. He knew he was succeeding in making her his completely. It was just a matter of time before she had no doubts about them and her feelings. He knew she couldn't love him the way he loved her, but she was definitely going to love him. He would be an important part of her whole world.
Rudra just hummed in response. Pihu continued, "I want another thing. I want to work. You said you wouldn't stop me from working when we were leaving for Paris."
He narrowed his eyes and teased, "It looks like my wife is in the mood to squeeze her husband dry with her demands."
She quickly replied, "These aren't demands. It's just me telling you because you are my..." she paused, gulping, but then said anyway, "husband."
Rudra felt a whole zoo stirring in his system as he listened to her words but kept his emotions in check, smiling. "Okay, I understand my wife is independent and has her own thoughts. And from now on, as I promise before I won't stop you from doing anything as long as it doesn't harm you. So, according to that, you can't work yet because you still haven't fully recovered and get tired easily."
Pihu sat up on the bed, determined. "Look, I don't like staying in the house all the time, and I already feel alright. I like working. Please, just let me."
Rudra also sat up, his tone firm. "No means no."
Pihu pleaded, "Hmm, let's make a deal. Na tumara na mera. You can arrange part-time work for me in your office for the time being. I promise I won't overwork. Please, Rudra, please."
Rudra sighed, looking at her earnest face. He knew she was stubborn and wouldn't give up easily. He also knew that keeping her happy and engaged was important for her recovery. Finally, he relented, "Alright, part-time it is. But only a few hours a day, and you must promise not to overwork yourself."
Pihu's face lit up with joy. She threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly. "Thank you, Rudra!"
Rudra hugged her back, feeling the warmth of her happiness seep into him. "Anything for you, Pearl," he whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
The next day
Pihu woke up with a sense of excitement. Today was the day she would start working again. She dressed carefully, choosing a professional yet comfortable outfit. Standing in front of the mirror, she tried to braid her hair but struggled to get it perfect.
Rudra, who had come to call her for breakfast, saw her struggle. He moved towards her, gently taking the comb from her hand. "Let me do it," he said softly, his fingers expertly starting to braid her hair.
Initially, she had resisted his help, insisting on her independence. But over the past month, she had grown accustomed to his care, a necessity due to her injury. Now, she found herself accepting his assistance without a second thought, not realizing how seamlessly he had integrated his affection into her daily routine.
She watched him through the mirror, feeling a mixture of gratitude and affection. "You look beautiful, Pearl," he said, his voice filled with pride as he finished the braid and tied it with a rubber band. On the other hand, Rudra was meticulously nurturing her trust and love while keeping his darker obsessions hidden.
Pihu blushed, feeling a rush of happiness. "Thank you, Rudra."
He smiled warmly at her reflection. "Come on, breakfast is ready. You need to eat well before your big day."
Pihu nodded, following him to the dining room where a delicious spread awaited her. They shared a quiet breakfast, the atmosphere filled with a sense of new beginnings and hopeful anticipation.
Arriving at the Office
As the car pulled up in front of the Rathore Empire building, Pihu felt a wave of nervousness wash over her. She had only recently graduated, and her experience was limited. Rudra, sensing her hesitation, stepped out beside her and gently squeezed her hand. "Don't worry, Pearl. You are the best."
Pihu, still holding his hand, said, "I don't want others to know about our relationship."
Rudra's eyes darkened slightly, but he managed a soft smile. "Pearl, I am not going to listen to that. You are mine. But I promise that outside the office, no one will know about you until you want them to."
Pihu wanted to argue, but before she could say anything, Rudra started moving towards the building. People around them began to notice their presence, some recognizing Pihu from her previous internship at Rathore Empire. They greeted them respectfully, their curiosity barely concealed.
They reached the top floor, and as Pihu entered Rudra's office, memories of their first meeting flooded back. She had been so scared of him back then, his imposing presence intimidating her. Rudra waved his hand in front of her, breaking her trance. "What are you thinking?" he asked, smiling.
"Nothing. But why am I here?" Pihu responded.
Rudra grinned. "Oh, you will work for me. There's your desk," he said, pointing to a beautifully arranged workspace in the corner of his cabin.
Pihu's demeanor changed. Her voice turned cold. "What do you mean? Rudra, don't play. I don't like this type of joke."
Rudra was taken aback by her sudden change in tone. She had always been either scared or sweet around him, but this was different. She was exhibiting a strength and assertiveness he hadn't seen before. "I'm kidding, Pearl. For the time being, you will work here. After a month, your cabin will be ready, and then, you will be fully fit also, so I need not to be worried about your health. Then, I will let you work independently in the finance as you wish. Okay?"
Pihu nodded, her initial anger dissipating. She was unable to find fault in his words or actions lately. It seemed like he had truly changed. Even yesterday, when she mentioned wanting to visit her family, he hadn't shouted or become angry. He simply listened. "Hmm," she replied at last.
Rudra placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, guiding her to sit at her desk. "Now you wait here. You can use your phone until I have some work for you. I know I should inform you before hand, instead I suddenly brought you here, but I want you to feel comfortable."
Pihu settled into her chair, her phone in hand. Despite her initial reservations, she felt a small sense of excitement about working again. Rudra returned to his own desk, occasionally glancing over at her with a smile.
A Few Hours Later
Pihu, who had been sitting and using her phone for two hours, finally stood up and walked over to Rudra's desk. Sensing her approach, Rudra looked up and asked, "Do you need anything, Pearl?"
Pihu, clearly irritated, said, "Yes, I need work. I've been sitting here for two hours, and you haven't given me anything to do. Are you going to give me some work, or should I go and look for a job somewhere else?"
As she didn't get any response from Rudra. She settled back into her chair, her irritation growing with each passing minute. She thought to go out to get reaction from Rudra and make him agree to her demands. Just as she was about to stand up again, the door opened, and Veer walked in.
Seeing Pihu, he smiled warmly. "Sunshine, how are you?"
Pihu's face lit up with joy. "Veer Bhai! I'm fine. But where have you been for the past month? You didn't visit or return my calls. Whenever I asked the devil, he always said you were busy."
Veer chuckled. "I'm sorry, Sunshine. I was really busy and out of the country for business, as Rudra said."
Rudra, interrupting their conversation, said, "I didn't call you here to chat, Veer. I need this file sorted out urgently."
Pihu, hearing his tone, turned to Rudra and said, "You can't talk to my Veer Bhai like that."
She moved to pick up the files from Rudra's desk. Rudra watched her with curiosity. Turning to Veer, she said, "Veer Bhai, let's go. I will help you with your work."
Rudra stood up, clearly surprised. "What?"
Pihu responded firmly, "I came here to work, not to sit idle. If you don't have any work for me, I'm sure Veer Bhai does. He looks so busy."
Rudra, recognizing her determination, relented. "Alright, Pearl. You can help Veer with his work. But remember, you still need to take it easy."
Pihu nodded, her face showing a mix of satisfaction and determination. "Thank you, Rudra. I promise I won't overwork myself."
Veer smiled at their interaction, sensing the changes in both of them. "Let's go, Sunshine. We have plenty to do."
As they walked out, Rudra watched them, a small smile playing on his lips. He knew he still had a long way to go to earn Pihu's complete trust, but moments like this gave him hope. He returned to his desk, feeling a renewed sense of determination to support Pihu in every way possible.
