Chapter 115
The Love From Vengeance
115 CREEPY CONVOS ARIELâS POV Hannah had to cease our talk the moment she began her conversation on the phone. She was really happy, and the smile on her face showed how that person she was talking with meant a lot to her. It was obviously her boyfriend. What was his name again? Felix, right. Well, that was what she told me.
I glanced around, observing everyone, and I couldnât see Luke in the mansion. My eyes couldnât catch sight of him, and I had to wonder if he had left the party so soon. He was indeed a busy man, and maybe he had only come here not to break his promise. If he left so early, then the detestation for Andre was quite clear.
Just as I was looking around, someone approached me, which was quite surprising. Okay, really surprising. Lisa was the one who had walked up to me. I couldnât help but wonder why. This was something that no one would expect, but I could just brace myself for what was about to happen. If she was about to spit shit or something.
Indeed, everyone in their family was looking fantastic. Lisa, right here, killed it. She had to be the one with the most stunning dress at the party. Of course, since she was a fashion designer. But even so, Elizabeth and Hannah really had to flaunt their imposing sense of fashion. Especially Hannah, because her looks were almost the opposite of how she dressed on a daily basis.
âCan I help you?â I asked Lisa, as she was just staring at me.
âWhat kind of question is that?â She quizzed me in return. Her tone, not friendly. It wasnât something new to me anyway.
I raised an eyebrow at her, widening my eyes to a certain degree. âIâm sorry. Say what now?â
âI should be the one asking you that. I walked up to you, and youâre busy throwing that question at me, like Iâm a complete stranger.â
Oh wow, this was surprising.
I laughed, taking my eyes upward. âI see. Iâm sorry. But I think you know the reason for that question. I mean, come on, letâs not start pretending to ourselves around here.â I ended that talk with a shrug.
Lisa shook her head. âYou love saying the most annoying shit, donât you?â
I couldnât help but sigh. âHave you come to me to start an argument, or what?â
âStart an argument?â She chuckled, crossing her arms. âDo you think Iâll waste my time doing that with you?â
âWell, that looks like what youâre doing now,â I retorted, averting my gaze. âYou know, when you approached me, I had a feeling you just came to display that rude attitude. And I can see youâre heading in that direction.â
Lisa laughed. âOh, please, donât make me laugh. I havenât come to you to be rude.
âBut you totally understand what Iâm saying,â I said immediately.â
âNo, I donât.â She raised both of her brows. And as I widened my eyes, staring at her, she laughed.
âOkay, maybe I do. But honestly, I havenât come to be rude.â
âOkay, what do you want, then?â
âWell, I need your help with something.â She took her eyes down. No wonder she was now trying to be nice.
âAnd whatâs that?â I heaved my eyebrows.
âThereâs this friend of mine whoâs looking for a job. And I donât know if you can actually make her a worker in your company.â
âMy company? Why donât you tell your brother about this?â
âI did. But he refused without thinking twice. He knows this lady, and he believes sheâs not capable of doing the job.â
âIf he thinks like that, then itâs clear sheâs not suitable for the job.â
She exhaled deeply. âYeah, I know. I just feel so sorry for her, ever since she lost all of her wealth.â
âI see.â I nodded slowly. âCare to tell me what happened?â
âShe was defrauded.â
âOhh,â I brought out in a low tone. âThatâs terrible.â
âYeah. Sheâs so depressed right now, and I just want to make her feel better.â
âBy giving her a spot in The Vitality Group?â
âExactly,â Lisa uttered right away. âThatâs what she wanted.â
âLisa, can I talk to you?â A lady approached Lisa, holding her shoulders, smiling âItâs really important.â
Lisa glanced back at me. âWeâll talk later.â
I nodded, and she walked away with the lady. And boy, what the hell was that? I just couldnât understand the conversation we had just had. It was somehow awkward.
I sighted Mason from afar, moving in my direction. He had his hands in his pockets, his gaze fixed on me. I turned my face away multiple times, but a glance at him showed how he refused to take his eyes off me. It was really creepy, and I knew he was going to start talking nonsense. But this was a joyful occasion, and I needed to smile every moment.
âHow are you doing, my lady?â Mason smirked at me. He was now close. I wanted to glare at him, but some part of my head told me to hold the anger and not display it. Expression, words, or whatever. But if this man spit hard shit, I knew I wasnât going to follow through with such thoughts. I might even give him a tremendous punch in his balls.
âIâm doing fine, thank you.â I gave him a fake smile.
âThatâs nice.â His smirk was still firm on his face. He grabbed a glass of wine from a tray that was being carried by a server. âWant some wine?â Mason handed me the glass of wine.
âSure, thank you.â I played along, slowly taking it from his hand.
âI see youâre enjoying the party,â Mason vocalized, looking around.
âYeah, that is correct,â I told him, taking a sip of the wine. âWhat about you?â
âWell,â he said, and breathed out deeply. âItâs normal. Now I donât have much time to waste.â
âOf course I know. So you can go ahead and spit the crap you have to say.â A sardonic smile was right on my countenance as I slowly drank from the glass of wine.
Mason laughed, shaking his head. âYou can be an asshole sometimes.â
âSpeak for yourself,â I retorted.
âOkay. So, howâs our plan going? You know, I donât want stories or excuses.â
âStories or excuses?â We heard Andreâs voice, and we both turned around. He was standing close to us. âWhat plan are you talking about?â
LUKEâS POV I was still standing outside, watching different people as they passed by. Some people made their way out of the mansion, while others walked out, and I was just here, observing them all. Like, how was I even supposed to know the person who was after my life, or whatever?
I didnât even know if I should believe Lucifer. He had to ruin my mood, showing up here to leave me in an uneasy state. But if I was destined to die, then so be it.
*I spotted two little children not too far from me. A boy and a girl. Their beauty had captivated me, and I couldnât stop staring at them. For some reason, I 115 CREEPY CONVOS wanted to get close to the both of them, laugh, have fun, and talk about different things. Just like how I did with Abigail. I really loved little kids.
Still staring at the two children, as they moved in my direction with a young man beside them, my phone started ringing. Unknown ID, but I had to answer the call. Even though I was tired of that bullshit popping up on my screen consistently, âHello, Pushki. How have you been doing?â
âMom?â I brought out immediately, making a puzzled face. My mom was the only one who called me that. And it sounded just like her voice. But what the heck?
