Chapter 143
The Love From Vengeance
143 IS IT MINE?
LUKEâS POV âHow are you so sure that this child is mine, huh?â I quizzed Tiffany, and my tone was goddamn serious. Playtime was over.
âI know itâs yours, Luke. I havenât been with anyone else, since we, you know, split,â she answered firmly.
âBut how can you be so sure? Weâve been apart for a while now,â I replied, still not convinced. âAnd we had sex only this one time. So, how can you be so sure?â âIâm sure, alright. And I wonât abort this baby, no matter what. You have to take responsibility,â Tiffany spoke loudly, I could see hear the anger out of her tone. Oh great. Now I had gotten myself into this goddamn situation. To be honest with myself, I still had doubts about Tiffanyâs claim, but I couldnât ignore the possibility that the child could be mine.
âYou can run a DNA test if you want,â she suggested.
âYou think Iâm going to do that?â
âOf course. Why wonât you?â
âI just need you to be honest with me. Are you really pregnant?â
âWhat kind of stupid question is that? Of course Iâm pregnant. Do you think Iâll just come to you and start making up false stories.â
âMight be possible.â I shrugged.
âHeyy!â She bawled immediately. âWhat do you take me for? A golddigger?â
âI never said that.â
âBut thatâs what you meant.â
âDid you come here to argue?â
âI didnât, but I can see that thatâs exactly what you want.â
âHold on, how did you know I was at the hospital?â
âYouâre at the hospital? Doing what?â
âOh fuck, itâs none of your business. You donât work in there again?â I gestured toward the hospital not too far from us.
âThatâs not where I used to work at, you dirtbag!â
âOkay, thereâs no need to be rude. It was just a simple question.â
âComing out of an idiot.â
âI will not tolerate these insults anymore. Do you understand?â
âWhat are you going to do then? Hit me?â
I sighed. âDonât you have somewhere youâre supposed to be heading to this morning?â
âYes, until I saw your ugly ass.â
âPoint of correction miss, I am handsome.â
âIf only you were as ugly as your attitude.â
âWhy are you so mad?â
âBecause, you just dumped me Luke. You considered me to be a trash. You just slept with me like I was nothing.â
âOh, right.â I snapped my fingers. âI totally forgot. You want money, right?â
She gaped at me, with an unfriendly look. âI donât want your money. I just want you to take full responsibility for this child.â
âFine, weâll do the DNA test. But I need some time to think about everything.â
âThink about what?â
âThatâs for me to know, and you to shut up.â
âYou are just too rude.â
âSays the lady who called me a dirtbag.â
âBecause you are one,â she retorted.
I chuckled. âYou can start going now.â
âNo you go!â She fired back at me, âYouâre going to stand here at the road all day?â
âThatâs none of your business.â
âI was only concerned. Since youâre carrying my child.â I smirked.
âOh shut up!â She snapped.
âYouâre here, Luke?â Ariel walked to the both of us. âIâve been looking everywhere for you.â
ANDREâS POV I stirred as the soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across my bedroom.
With a yawn, I stretched my arms above my head, feeling the stiffness of sleep slowly ebbing away.
The faint chirping of birds outside my window signaled the start of a new day as I blinked my eyes open, hazily peering at the clock on my bedside table.
Realization dawned on me, and I jolted upright, remembering the important meeting scheduled for today at work. With a sense of urgency, I swung my legs over the side of the bed and planted my feet on the cool wooden floor, shivering slightly at the sudden change in temperature.
As I stood up, I glanced out the window, taking in the serene view of the city waking up below me. The distant hum of traffic began to grow louder, mingling with the early morning bustle of a city on the move.
I shuffled into the bathroom, rubbing my eyes to clear the remnants of sleep. The mirror reflected back a slightly disheveled version of myself, my dark hair tousled from sleep. I splashed my face with cold water, feeling the refreshing shock wake me up fully.
Turning my attention to my morning routine, I quickly brushed my teeth and ran a comb through my hair, trying to tame the unruly strands into submission. A quick glance at the clock told me I was running behind schedule, and I hurriedly moved to my closet to pick out an outfit for the day.
After a moment of deliberation, I settled on a crisp white shirt and a pair of navy blue trousers, the classic choice for an important meeting. As I dressed, I mentally went over the key points I needed to discuss, preparing myself for the day ahead.
With my outfit complete, I grabbed my briefcase and headed to the kitchen. The smell of freshly brewed coffee greeted me as I entered, courtesy of the timer I had set the night before. I poured myself a steaming cup and took a sip, relishing the rich, bitter taste that never failed to wake me up.
Breakfast was a quick affair, a simple bowl of cereal and a banana to fuel me for the day ahead. As I ate, I scrolled through my emails on my phone, making a mental note of any urgent messages that needed my attention.
My father made his way downstairs, looking at me. âAndre, we have to talk about last night.â
I gasped immediately. That was when I realized I was an idiot. âOh my, Ariel. I Ú©Û Ú©Ø±Ùا need to go check up on her,â I stood up immediately, and wanted to make my way to the door, but my father stopped me.
âHold on there, young man. You can go check on Ariel after weâre done with this conversation.â
I turned to him. âOkay, what is it you want to talk about?â
âItâs about the announcement that we were supposed to make at the party last night.â
âThe one concerning Hannah?â
âExactly. I waited for you, but you didnât arrive.â
âDad, I told you everything that happened last night.â
âI know, I know. Iâm not blaming you for anything here. I just want to know what time we will be making the announcement. Later today at the company?â
âToday wonât be a good idea. We just arrived at New Haven, and we need to see how the workers at The Vitality Group are coming along around here. Ariel and Mason have really been helping us out while we were in Canada.â
âI see. But I donât see that stopping the announcement today.â
âI know. Just leave everything to me. Hannah will get a spot in the company.â
âWhen do you think will be the right time then?â
âI canât actually tell right now. But itâs definitely going to be this week.â
âOkay, if you say so.â
and just as I was about to leave my mother stopped me. âHev, hey, hey.
