Chapter 148
The Love From Vengeance
148 SUSPECT MASONâS POV âI donât get it. Why have you guys come to my house? Am I a suspect, or what?â I asked the cops who were both standing at my door.
âYou came too fast about that,â the lady spoke. She was dark in complexion, and I could tell she was one rude bitch, the kind of person who wouldnât give a fuck about anybody.
âWell, sir. We came here looking for someone,â she added.
âYou came looking for someone, at my house?â I had to act like I was confused. But I could guess who or what they were talking about.
âOf course. Now get your ass off the way so we can get it,â she stated coldly.
âOkay Trinity, I think you need to calm down,â the man told her calmly. âWe have to be on our best attitude, remember?â
âThis is my best attitude. I donât give about this criminal.â
âYou canât tell if heâs a criminal,â the man told her.
âYou scared of this motherfucker?â She chuckled. âI ainât scared of his ass one bit.
âCan you both please tell me whatâs going on?â I was irritated, but I tried to keep myself together. âAnd who is this woman calling a motherfucker?â
âYou of course, motherfucker,â she answered, her tone still galling.
âJust keep it down, will you?â the man held her shoulders, but she quickly put an end to that.
âOh Iâm gonna keep it down!â
âThank you,â he told her softly, and she turned her face away. The man glanced at me. âLook sir, weâve heard from people about this woman being with you earlier this morning. Harriet Donald, and they directed us to this apartment. I believe this is where you live.â
âYes it is. But Harriet Donald? Whoâs that?â
âDonât act like you donât know her!â the woman snarled at me immediately. Trinity, if that was her name.
The man suspired. âCalm down, okay? We havenât actually clarified anything.â
âWhat the fuck is there to clarify?â
âPlease be more respectful,â he told her, and turned back to me. âYou see, Harriet was arrested for murder. She killed a priest at the wedding of Luke Reynold and Ariel Walker. I believe you must have heard of them.â
âOf course heâs heard about them.â
âNot now Trinity!â The man vocalized almost clamorous. He was sick of this womanâs disgusting attitude, and so was I. How did she even join the police force? âSir, this Harriet weâre talking about, escaped from prison. And when we were informed about it, we started searching for her. Some people told us that they saw her with you, and they directed us to your house.â
âI see. Do you have a search warrant?â I questioned him, âWell, not really.â
âGood. So I donât think this search is going to be possible.â
âOh shut yo ass up and get out of the way.â Trinity pushed me backwards. And then she marched inside the house.
âHey, I can sue you for this,â I told her.
âDo shit all you want. But we ainât letting that murderer get away.â
âAnd how are you so sure that sheâs at my house?â
âJust shut up and let the cops do their job.â
I looked at her fellow cop, and he just shrugged, before stepping foot in the house as well. Now I had no idea where Harriet had run to. But she was a lady with brains. It could be possible that she already flee from my apartment.
They began to search, and I kept telling them countless times that she wasnât here, but they refused to buy that. Trinity was livid, and she kept accusing me of hiding Harriet.
âLook, I donât know where she is. You can keep searching if you want, but you wonât find her here,â I said, trying to keep my cool.
âWeâll see about that,â Trinity spat, pushing past me and continuing her search. The other cop, whose name I still didnât know, looked at me apologetically before following her.
I sighed and leaned against the wall, watching as they rummaged through my belongings. As the cops searched every nook and cranny of my house, I could feel my patience wearing thin. I kept telling them that Harriet wasnât here, but they refused to believe me. Trinity was especially persistent, constantly yelling at me and accusing me of hiding the fugitive.
After what felt like hours, they finally finished their search and found no sign of Harriet. Trinityâs face turned red with anger as she realized that I was telling the truth. Well, I wasnât actually telling the truth, but to them, I was telling the truth.
The man, who had been more levelâheaded throughout the whole ordeal, apologized to me for the inconvenience. âIâm sorry for the disturbance, sir. We were just doing our job,â he was looking embarrassed by Trinityâs behavior.
I couldnât help but feel a sense of satisfaction at seeing Trinity humbled. âNo problem, officer. Just doing your job, right?â
He nodded and they both left, with Trinity shooting me one last glare before storming out of my house. I let out a sigh of relief and leaned against the wall. That was a tough one, good thing Harriet had to capitalize. Now, where the hell could she be?
ARIELâS POV Later in the day, Luke and I finally arrived at his house. We stood at the gate as we both gazed at it. I thought I was never going to see this place again. I thought my journey in this world would end last night, but guess I was just lucky again. Too many bad moments, I had been through so much. And here I was, still alive. No, I wasnât perfect at all. Righteous at hell, definitely not me. I was just average, and I hoped life wouldnât get any worse. I didnât need any more horrific scenes in my life.
I was still surprised by this new relationship with Luke. Everything changed overnight. He became more lively towards me, and he was also caring. The recent actions were the total opposite of what he had executed years ago during our previous marriage.
âHome sweet home,â Luke said, and let out a sigh of relief.
I looked at him. âYou should still be careful, okay? You know youâve notâ¦â
âFully recovered, I get it,â he cut me off. âI promise, I will be careful.â
I looked at him in surprise, silent for some seconds, and he turned to me, realizing how I was staring at him.
âWhat? Why are you looking at me like that?â He asked.
âIâm just surprised,â I answered quietly.
âSurprised about what?â
BUSPEC âNevermind.â I shook my head. But honestly, I was really shock that he didnât argue this time. He just agreed, no arguments and all that. I genuinely loved how this new side of him was coming along.
âWelcome back miss,â one of the maids greeted us with a smile. Her name was Tina, and she was really sweet. And just so you know, sheâs a blabbermouth.
âIâm really glad the both of you are back. You know weâve all been waiting for the both of you since last night, but you guys didnât show up, and I was really worried, and we were allâ¦.â
âOkay, okay, weâve heard you, Tina. Thanks for being concerned.â I shut her up, smiling at her.
