Chapter 175
The Love From Vengeance
175 WHERE ARE THEY?
ARIELâS POV The rain began to fall, I quickly made my way to my car, bursting inside. I didnât know what was going to happen after this, but I knew I needed to brace myself.
1 got a text from Mason, it said, âNice Job. Hope youâre ready.â With this, I could tell that he had a knowledge of what just happened at Lukeâs house. But who told me? That meant that there must be a goddamn spy there.
I called Mason several times, but he declined all of my calls. I had to drive straight to Andreâs house.
Getting out of my car, I hurried to the door, making my way inside the mansion. I saw Lisa using her phone.
She caught a sight of me. âAriel, what are you doing here, and why did you come like a thief?â
âWhereâs Lukel and Janice?â I asked, walking to her.
âUhmm, I have no idea. But I did see Mason taking them out.â
âMason took them out?â
âYes,â Lisa answered, giving me a confused face. âAny problem with that?â
âDid you perhaps know where he was taking them?â
âI literally have no idea,â she answered, shaking her head slowly.
âThis doesnât sound good,â I whispered to myself.
âWhy do I feel like youâre not comfortable with Mason taking your children out?â
I sighed, driving my hand through my hair. I left the house right away, got into my car and drove off. The rain continued to fall, the waters dropping down, the rumbles of thunder materializing. And my worry worsened, I panicked, but I needed to stay strong for my children.
I drove to Masonâs house, left my car, and went to knock on his door. No one came out, so I had to ring the doorbell. Still no one came out.
âWhere could they be? Whereâs could they be?â I panicked, stepping on the ground vigorously. I called Mason again, but he refused to answer. In fact, he declined my calls.
âShit!â I shrieked and threw my phone to the ground. âFuck Mason!â I punched the door and it opened that very moment.
âWho the hell is that?â The person who came out vocalized, and to my surprise, it was Harriet. I couldnât stop staring at her, kind of been a long time since we saw each other. What in the world was she doing here at Masonâs house?
âAriel? You?â Harriet spoke, looking shocked to see me. Mutual feeling right here.
175 WHERE ARE THEY?
âWhat are you doing here?â I queried.
âI should be the one asking you that. What are you doing here, you bitch ?â Harriet quizzed me, her tone was really rude. But it wasnât something so surprising. Her rude manners must have amplified from prison.
âAre you working with Mason?â
Harriet laughed, âGet the hell out of here. Oh right, I think I know why youâve come, itâs because of your little childreh. You donât have to worry about them, sweetheart.â She gave me a threatening smile.
âYou Know about Lukel and Janice?â
âThose are their names?â She chuckled. âAnd by the way, what the hell is Lukel? What kind of name is that?â She continued to make fun of me, while I just glared at her.
âI mean come on, you should have found something else. Hold on, I think I know why his nameâs Lukel.
Luke and Ariel, it all makes sense now. Still stupid anyway.â
âYou can insult me all you want. But where are my children? Where did Mason take them to?â
âYou think I have an idea about that?â Harriet laughed. âOh boy. I wished I knew, but itâs so sad that I donât. I hope Mason kills those children of yoursâ
âAnd I hope you are sent back to prison. When Iâm done with this, Iâm going to make sure I call the cops on you.â
âGo ahead, do what you want. Iâm not scared you. But if I were you, Iâll start searching for my babies now.â
Glaring at her her, I walked away, confused as hell, I didnât care if I was being washed by the rain. The only thing important right now, was the safety of my children.
Just as I was about to enter the car, Mason began to video call me. I answered quickly.
âHey, Ari. Whatâs up?â Mason smirked from the screen. âYouâve been having a great night?â
âWhere are my children?â
He faked a shocking face, opening his mouth wide and looking around. âOh my. I genuinely have no idea where your kids are.â
âStop playing with me. I know you do.â
âYou were the one who was playing with me. You couldnât get the job done you imbecile. Now youâre going to face the consequences.
âI donât have time for your silly talk,â I retorted.
So, do you want to talk to your children one last time before they, you âYou donât have to do this, Mason.â
knowâ¦.end up in the grave.â
175 WHERE ARE THEY?
âWhy? We had an agreement, didnât we? You fail to make Luke sign those papers, and Iâll kill your kids.
Thatâs exactly whatâs going on now, youâve done your part, now itâs time for me to end the whole story.â
âMason please, we can talk about this.â
âThereâs nothing to talk about, Ariel.â
âYou have to understand the meaning of love,â I tried changing his mind.
âI understand the meaning of love perfectly. I understand every bit of it. And thatâs why I decided to avenge Sofieâs death. Because I loved her with the whole of my heart. She was my angel, my beautiful angel. But your goodâforânothing husband took her away from me. And now Iâm going to take your children from you.â
âPlease, Mason. Iâm begging you. Let them go, theyâre just children. Theyâre still little, and they have a long way to go.â
âOf course, Iâll be putting them six feet deep. A long way indeed.â
âCan I please see their faces?â
Mason laughed. âArenât you just so caring?â
âPlease let me talk to them.â
âYou will talk to them, alright? But not now.â
âWhen then?â
âWhen theyâre already dead. You can pay them a visit at their graves.â He laughed again.
âThis isnât funny, you know,â I told him.
âItâs hilarious. Look at how sad you are. I can see the fear right in your eyes.â
âPlease let them go. Iâll do anything,â I pleaded.
âSorry, itâs too late now. But Iâm not that heartless, hold on for a minute.â He ended the phone call.
âOh gosh, what am I going to do now?â I enunciated in hushed tones, hitting my face.
Mason began to video call me, and I didnât hesitate in answering. I could see Lukel and Janice in the screen. I smiled, also bursting into tears.
âMommy, why are you crying?â Lukel asked.
âYes, why are you crying mommy?â Janice chimed in. âWhatâs the problem?â
âLukel, Janice,â I uttered, not even able to form the words as I continued crying. My face all red, I cleaned my tears.
âIs everything okay, mommy?â Lukel inquired.
175 WHERE ARE THEY?
âYes, son. Everythingâs okay. These are tears of joy.â
âTears of joy? Tell us the good news then.â
âOkay, okay, thatâs enough. Uncle Mason wants to use his phone now,â Mason showed up in the screen and smirked before ending the video call.
I didnât even know what to do, or who to inform about this. Who was going to help me out in this one?
