Chapter 218
The Love From Vengeance
218: LOST SOUL LUKEâS POV I walked into the bar, and right at this point, I was feeling like a goddamn lost soul. My heart was heavy with the weight of Arielâs words ringing in my head, I ordered a drink and took a seat at the bar, hoping the alcohol would numb the pain.
But even as the drinks kept coming, I couldnât shake off the memory of Arielâs accusations. The words echoed in my mind, like a constant reminder of the hurt and betrayal she felt towards me. I closed my eyes, trying to block out the pain, but it only seemed to intensify.
I watched as the women in the bar danced on stage, trying to entice me with their seductive moves. But I couldnât bring myself to look at them. My mind was consumed with thoughts of Ariel and the love we once shared.
A woman with long blonde hair and a tight red dress sat down next to me. She tried to flirt with me, but I couldnât even manage to smile. She huffed and angrily left, her heels clicking against the floor.
Still sitting here, nursing my drink, a woman with long, blonde hair and a tight red dress sat down next to me. She flashed me a flirtatious smile. âHey there, handsome, whatâs a guy like you doing all by himself?â
I couldnât even manage a smile in response as I was lost in my own thoughts. Noticing my lack of interest, she huffed, âWell, I was hoping for some company tonight. But I guess youâre not interested.
âShe started to get up from her seat, her heels clicking against the floor.
Feeling guilty for not acknowledging her, I finally spoke up, âIâm sorry, Iâm just not in the mood for company tonight.â
She rolled her eyes and snapped back, âWell, you could have at least pretended to be interested. Itâs not like I was asking for your hand in marriage.â
I let out a small chuckle. âI apologize; I didnât mean to come off as rude. Itâs been a long day, and I wanted some time to myself.â
She softened her expression. âI understand. Iâll leave you with your thoughts then. Maybe another time?â
I smiled and nodded. âMaybe another time.â
that the âIdiot,â she snapped and walked away. I made a confused face at that very moment. Like, what the fuck just happened? How did her demeanor change? Ugh, never mind.
I requested another drink, hoping that it would drown out my thoughts. But as I drank, I couldnât help but feel like a monster. The weight of Arielâs words was crushing me, and I couldnât escape them.
I downed more of my drink, my mind racing with anger. I was going to find this person and clear my name. I was going to prove to Ariel that I was innocent and that I loved her despite everything.
But most importantly, I was going to find out who had killed that innocent kid. No one was going to get away with hurting my family.
And as I was still sitting there, someone approached me. It was Lucifer, the masked man, who had been giving me heart attacks those times. What the hell was he doing here?
âLuke Reynold, seeing you again is a nice thing âHe sat close to me, ordering a drink after that.
âYou? Youâre still alive?â
He chuckled. âI should be the one asking you that. Your mother spared your life.
âI donât want to talk about it.â
âWhy not? Arenât the both of you reunited?â
âIâm having a bad moment right now, and please, donât come here to make things worse.
âYouâre having a bad moment? Iâm having a bad moment, too.â
âYeah, thatâs none of my business.â I drank my glass.
âI know, and same thing here,â he uttered, and I gave him a serious face. He smirked and continued, When you told me that you were having a âOkay, did you come here to talk sh*t?â I cut him off.
âI came here to get a drink.â
âIt doesnât seem like that to me.â
âThatâs none of my business,â he retorted.
I shot him a cold look before turning my face away. âWhat are you feeling like, huh?â
âOh, Luke. I have to say, I actually missed having a conversation with you.
âYou know you can just tell me what you want. Is it money? Five hundred million dollars?â
He laughed. âTake it easy, brother.â
âIâm not your brother.â
âI know. Itâs just a saying.
âWell, donât say it.â
âYou canât tell me what to do.â
âYouâre right. But I can slam your head with one of these bottles right here.â
âLuke Reynold, calm down. I didnât come here for arguments.
âYou came here for jokes. But Iâm in no mood for that right now.â
213 LOST SOUL âYour wife broke your heart.â
I sighed. âPlease shut up.â
âGod didnât give me this mouth for that.â
âGod also doesnât want you talking like a fool.â I gave him a fake smile. âBy the way, I keep on wondering something.â
âAnd what is that?â
âDo you ever take that mask off?â I asked.
âYes, I do.â
âI donât think so.â
âThatâs none of my business,â he vocalized.
I let out a tiring sigh. âWill you stop saying that?â
âGo get laid.â
âWhat?â I gave him a puzzled face.
âYou want to see my face, donât you?â
âNot that eager, though. I mean, youâre not going to be charming.â
âWho told you that?â
âYour voice says it all,â I replied.
He took a deep breath and looked at me with a sense of sadness in his eyes. âYou know, Luke, my name is not Lucifer. Itâs Henry.â
âYeah, it was quite clear.â
He hesitated for a moment before taking off his mask and revealing his scarred face. âMy family was killed in a fire when I was just a kid. My face got burned during the attack.
âOh, thatâs really sad,â I spoke slowly, just staring at him.
âItâs okay, Luke. I wear the mask to hide my scars. People are afraid of me when they see my face.â
âWell, Iâm glad I finally saw your face today. But I have a question.â
âNo questions.â
âIâm sorry, but you canât stop me from taking.
âIâll just ignore you then.â
âAnd Iâll smack that scar on your face.â
218: LOST SOUL He immediately gave me a cold face, and I couldnât hold back a laugh.
âSorry, sorry, but the jokeâs aside. How did you get to know about my mother? Like the information and all that. Who told you about it?â I queried.
âWhy are you asking?â
âNo big deal. Iâm just curious.â
âYou now know that your mother is alive, and she was trying to ruin your life, right? I donât think should know everything.â
âIâm sorry. Say what now? Do I look like a little kid to you?â
you âI donât have to tell you my ways. I just came to show you my face. You wonât be seeing me anymore.â
âI didnât see you for a year.â
âI know, but this is different. You will never see me in your entire life. We will never cross paths again.
I looked at him, wondering what was going on in his mind. I could grasp what he was saying. Was he going to die?
âTake care, Luke Reynold.â He patted my shoulder before getting up and walking away. I didnât even know what to say, but this conversation was kind of absurd.
