Chapter 262
The Love From Vengeance
262: THE FEELING ARIELâS POV Gazing at the screen, I could only wonder why Laura was calling again. It could be that she had found Harriet. I hoped so; I didnât want that psychopath to get away.
I answered the phone call. âYes, Laura?â
âAriel, you have to come here quickly.â
âWhy? What happened?â
âI found two dead bodies here. Two of my servants are dead. And itâs obvious Harriet is the one who killed them.â
âHarriet killed them?â I spoke, trying to grasp the situation.
âThatâs what I think. Is this woman that brutal?â Laura quizzed.
Well, what do you expect from a lady who killed a priest?
âI donât know, but Iâm on my way.â
âOkay, hurry up,â she said before ending the call.
I set my eyes on Janice, and she was still sleeping. I didnât want to wake her up, so I think it would be best if she just stayed with Luke in the meantime. At least she gets to have fun with the two little boys around here.
I also wanted to visit Andre at the hospital to check up on him, but I would have to postpone that until later. I needed to go to that house to see this whole Harriet situation.
With Janice still sleeping, I walked out of the room. I went to Lukeâs room, and he was making a phone call. I waited for him to end the conversation, but it went on for minutes. He eventually turned around, and that was when he saw me standing at the door.
âHold on, Iâll get back to you,â he said before ending the call. âAriel? I thought you were gone.â
âNo, Iâm still here. But Iâll be going now.â
âOkay, thatâs great.â
âYeah, about that. Iâm not going to be taking Janice along with me.â
Luke raised an eyebrow promptly. âOh, you changed your mind?â
âYes. I donât want to wake her up just yet, but when she does, tell her Iâll be back.â
âWhat if I donât?â He smirked.
âSay what now?â
âI can just tell her you ran away and never returned,â
I chuckled. âAnd you think sheâs going to believe that?â
âWhy wouldnât she? Sheâs a little kid.â
âSheâs a little kid with brains, Luke. Do you think sheâs like you when you were little?â
âOkay, you can start leaving now,â he told me without hesitation, and I burst into laughter.
âIâll come back later.â
âOf course, Youâre definitely not going to leave your daughter here.â
âWhat am I doing?â I smirked at him.
âYou know what I mean,â
âYeah, yeah, whatever. Take care,â I kissed his cheek before leaving the room.
Walking down the stairs, straight to the living room, I saw this woman standing in front of me. She was fat and round, and her brows were so fucked up.
âWho are you?â She asked, halting me, âJust a guest,â I replied with a smile, and then I left her presence.
1 got into my car and drove for minutes until I finally arrived at Lauraâs mansion, my residence, place of living, and cool words. And after parking the car, I left.
I hurriedly made my way inside the mansion, but while I did that, I looked around to see if Harriet was probably around the area, I wasnât still convinced that she killed those maids, but weâd just have to see how things went.
âAriel, youâre finally back,â Laura said, approaching him. âGood morning, by the way.â
âGood morning,â I told her.
âWhereâs Janice? Still at your friendâs house?â
âYeah, sheâs still sleeping.â
âWow, Ariel. I never knew you had great friends around here. Oh, sorry, I forgot; this is your hometown.
You got tons of friends in this place.â
âThat tone isnât too nice. Are you⦠upset?â I questioned her.
âNo, Iâm not upset, actually. But just in case, next time, if youâre going to spend the whole day at your friendâs house, you should let me know. Do you have any idea how worried I was yesterday?â
âIâm sorry about that.â
âDonât apologize. You didnât do anything here. Youâre not a little kid, and you should be telling me everywhere you go.â
âI understand your point, Laura.â
âIâm sure you do,â she said, looking at me. âSo, I called you for a reason.â
âRight, Harriet.â
âSheâs nowhere to be found, but we have two dead bodies in the house.â
âHow is that possible? I beat the hell out of her. She was like a lifeless soul, half dead. She would have no idea how on earth she could escape those chains, much less succeed in murdering two individuals.
No, something isnât right around here.â
âDuhh, that woman escaped. Of course, things arenât going to be right around here.â
âNo, Iâm trying to make everything clear. I feel like someone helped her out.â
Laura gave me an interesting face. âWhat do you mean by that?â
âHarriet canât just do this on her own. Someone obviously helped her.â
âSo, what are you trying to say now? That one of my workers is doing shit behind my back.â
âApparently, yes.â
Laura chuckled. âWow, these fools. Iâm cutting their paychecks.â
âTake it easy; weâll just have to find out who did this.â
âHow? Do you think any of those bozos are going to talk? One thing in life, Ariel, is that the criminal never admits heâs a criminal.â
âHmm, yeah, everyone knows that,â I stated lowly.
âIf Harriet is gone, then so be it. Weâre not going to stress ourselves on that woman, right?â
âHarriet escaped, and you think sheâs just going to sit down? That woman is sick in the head. Sheâs not going to rest until she takes her revenge.â
âAnd weâre not going to rest either. Those people almost took your life; they killed your son and abducted your daughter. You can just see all the terrible things they did. And you think weâre going to let them get away with it?â
âWeâre not. Iâm definitely going to take revenge for my sonâs death.â
âThen what are you waiting for?â Laura asked me right away. âIf you were really serious and focused on this revenge stuff, your enemies wouldnât still be alive today. Mason, Harriet, and Luke,â
âI told you already, Luke didnât kill Luke.â
âAnd you believed him just like that?â Laura chuckled. Do not tell me you have developed feelings for the man who shattered you to a million pieces,â she advised.
âI was wrong about Luke. You have to understand that he didnât do anything. Heâs innocent. Mason is the one who killed tanke. He paid some goddamn lady to tell me false things, and I believed it. I didnât know how, but I believed it, and I started thinking Luke was the one responsible for my sonâs death.â 1 fixed my hands on her shoulders as I continued. The hate blinded me. I blamed Luke for everything the pain, the sorrow, everything. But he had to open my eyes. He made me realize that he would do anything to keep his blood safe. He was willing to die, just so nothing bad would happen to me and Janice â
Laura raised an eyebrow. âI see. Thatâs why you went to spend the night with him, right?â
