Chapter 283
The Love From Vengeance
283: UNDERSTAND LUKEâS POV Standing right here in my room, I was just looking at my mom, wondering why she had come to this location in the house so early in the morning.
Seriously, it was way too early for me to get into any heated conversation. I have things running through my head right nowâthings that might make me go crazy. The situation with Ariel last night seemed to be a tough one, and I had no idea if she was angry at me or not. But I could just wish for the best. Things are going great between us.
âCan I please know why youâve come?â I asked, not taking my eyes off her.
âGood morning, first of all,â she said, with a tone that was deep and goddamn serious.
Somehow.
But I greeted her anyway. âGood morning. So, can we get straight to the point?â
âCatherine is at this house.â
âYeah, I know that.â
âWere you the one who brought her home?â
âYes, I had to. I saw her while driving on the road. So, I have some questions for you. And you need to give me answers.â
ARIELâS POV âAriel, wake up.â
Lauraâs voice ran through my ears, waking me from my sleep. I was really exhausted. I probably didnât wake up anytime soon because of how things went with Luke last night.
I literally had no idea what had gone on with him. His mood just changed, and I was still wondering if he had any idea/about Daniellaâs family. Everything seemed so strange last.
night.
âAriel, you have to wake up.â Laura said, walking closer to me.
âWhy? Whatâs the problem?â
âBusiness meeting. The Tecas are about to discuss a new project with different companies. Thereâll be representatives from different companies. It should be about ten or five But the thing here is that we were invited Bernardo would have come along, but as a matter of fact, heâs busy with other stuffâ
I I Right, like having sex with other women, I muttered. But knew I was inaudible because no one could hear me âWhat did you just say? Loom asked promptly. But no worries, she didnât hear me.
âOh, itâs nothing lied Iâm just tired. Thatâs it.â
âI see. Where were you last night?
Iâm sorry. Say what now?â
âWhere were you last night? I searched the house, but I couldnât see you.â
âYour husband saw me. You can go ahead and ask him. By the way, I came home to drop Janice off, but I didnât see you, so I went out again.â
âWith Luke, right? Laura quizzed, raising an eyebrow.
LUKEâS POV So, mother, I hope you donât lie to me,â I told my mom, fixing my palms together..
âWhy would I lie to you?â
1 donât know. Probably because youâve done it in the past.â
âYouâre still talking about that?â
1 forgave you, but that doesnât mean I forgot about all the things you did. Itâs the brain, alright? Itâs a part of life.â
âYes,â she whispered. âIâm sorry.â
âYou donât have to say that. Iâm not mad at you. And I believe you havenât come here to bong back those memories.â
1 didnât come here for that. You were the one bringing the whole thing up.â
âI know. I just cant help it.â
âYeah, I totally understand that,â she vocalized in hushed tones.
undendang âGray, Now, you tell me. What did you do to Catherine?â
ARIELâS POV 233 UNDERSTAND âWhy are you asking me that?â I stood on the bed while Laura kept staring at me, not taking her eyes off me. In addition to the damned question she posed, the fact that she had her arms crossed was an expression that brought unease to my face.
âYou canât deny it, right? You went to see Luke last night, didnât you?â
âCan we please not talk about this?â
âWhy shouldnât we?â
âBecause I donât want to.â
âWell, youâll have to. Weâve made this quite clear: our situation with Luke.â
âWhat did we make clear?â
âThat youâre going to take revenge on him for killing your son.â
âThat was your decision.â
âYouâre going to deny it now?â
âYes, I did agree to do thatâget revenge, kill Luke, and make his life miserable. But things changed;
why wonât you accept that, Laura? Why do you keep hardening your heart?â
âI do not like Luke. Iâve always had hatred for him since you told me about him. About the things he did to you in the past. Are you really that stupid to just take him back?â
âPlease, I donât need any insults around here,â I told her in my calmest tone, trying to be respectful.
âIâm not insulting you. Iâm only stating facts around here. Luke doesnât deserve to be with you. He wronged you in the past; think about it.â
âI did that already. Iâve thought about everything, and I know where I stand right now. Luke did me wrong; there is no doubt about that. But itâs all in the past. Iâm not upset about that anymore.â
âThen what about the death of your son?â
âI donât have to tell you this a thousand times. Luke did not murder Luke.â
LUKEâS POV âWhy are you asking me that? I told you already, Luke.â My mother gave me a response to my question. And I donât know; I just couldnât buy these words right now.
âYes, you did tell me that you unintentionally burned the house, almost ending Catherineâs life. But I feel like thereâs more than that.â
âAnd what do you mean by that?â
âI saw the look on Catherineâs face, the anger in her eyes. It was something worse than what you told me.â
âI donât think it is, actually. She became really upset because of that. Itâs quite clear.â
âOh really? Nothing else?â I inquired, raising an eyebrow.
âLuke, why do you keep on stressing about this?â
âCatherine hates you and doesnât want to talk to you. She has even decided to cut ties with you. But I donât want that to happen. Trust me, itâs not the right thing to do, and I donât want the both of you to be on bad terms. So please, you have to make things clear to me.
Please, mother, tell me what you did to your daughter.â
ARIELâS POV âLuke didnât kill my son, okay? Take those thoughts off your head,â I said, raising my voice at Laura. I never wanted to, but I couldnât help it. She was becoming irritating every single second with the words she was vocalizing.
Laura gave me a knowing lookâthe look that was asking me why I raised my voice at her. She didnât utter a word. But that expression said it all.
âWow, Ariel. I canât believe this.â
âIâm sorry.â I apologized. I didnât mean to raise my voice at you, but I really need to bring these things out to you.â
âDo you love Luke? Oh, please, save the crap for someone else. I donât want you to bring out your worthless thoughts.â
âTheyâre not worthless,â I replied incontinently. âSorry to say this, Laura, but you canât change anything now. Iâve fallen in love with Luke.â
Laura chuckled. âAnd here I was, trying to help you. But you had to turn your back on me.â
