Chapter 384
The Love From Vengeance
384: TROUBLED THOUGHTS ARIELâS POV After Sir Reynoldâs heartfelt words, I found myself seeking solace in the familiar comfort of Tessaâs home. I sat across from her in the cozy living room, and I felt a sense of unease lingering beneath the surface of my thoughts.
Tessa noticed my troubled expression and reached out, gently placing a hand on mine. âAriel, you seem really distant. Is everything alright?â
I let out a deep sigh. âHonestly, Tessa, I donât know. Everything feels so⦠complicated right now.â
She nodded understandingly. âItâs about, Luke, isnât it?â
I nodded slowly, biting my lip as I struggled to find the right words. âYeah, itâs about Luke. And this whole marriage thing. I just⦠I donât know if Iâm doing the right thing.â
She gently squeezed my hand. âAriel, you donât have to go through with this if youâre not sure happiness should come first, above everything else.â
Your âBut what about my family? Theyâve put so much pressure on me to marry Luke, to make sure our business doesnât go down.â
Tessa shook her head, her gaze unwavering. âYour familyâs expectations shouldnât dictate your life choices, Ariel. You deserve to live your own life, on your own terms.â
I took a deep breath, my mind swirling with conflicting emotions. âI know, but⦠I canât help but feel like I owe it to them, you know? Theyâve sacrificed so much for me.â
Tessaâs expression softened. âAriel, your family loves you, but they shouldnât expect you to sacrifice your own happiness for their sake. You deserve to be with someone who truly cares for you, who respects you.â
âI understand what youâre saying. Tessa. But Iâve made my decision. Iâm going to marry Luke.â
âAriel, are you sure about this? You donât have to go through with it if youâre not ready.â
âIâm sure, Tessa,â I insisted. âI may not know what the future holds, but I refuse to let fear dictate my choices. Iâll make the best out of this marriage, whatever it may bring.â
Tessa studied me for a moment, her expression filled with concern. âJust promise me one thing, Ariel.â
âAnd what is that?â
âPromise me that youâll prioritize your own happiness above everything else. Donât let anyone elseâs expectations overshadow your own wellâbeing.â
I nodded, smiling at her. âI promise, Tessa. Thank you for always being there for me.â
âWell, it is what it is,â she said underneath her breath.
We shared a quiet moment of understanding, the weight of our conversation hanging heavy in the air.
The 994: TROUBLED THOUGHTS door opened after that, and Larry stepped foot Inside the house.
âLarry?â I uttered, quite surprised with his presence.
âHey,â he waved his hand, smiling at me.
âWhat are you doing here?â I asked him.
âI called him here,â Tessa replied.
âYeah, she did.â Larry pointed a her.
âWe have to discuss about this, we have to find a way to bring your familyâs business back to higher heights, without you getting married to Luke.â
âSeriously? How is that possible?â I asked.
âItâs not impossible, Ariel. Itâs all about bringing Mr. Kingston down.â
âAnd Larry is going to help us with that?â
âOf course, he fights for justice, remember?â
I glanced at Larry, raising both of my brows at him. He shrugged at me.
I sighed, shaking my head. âSo, whatâs the plan? What do you have in mind, Tessa?â
âYou do know I can be a little crazy sometimes.â She smirked at me.
âYeah,â I answered in a slow manner. âWhatâs on your mind?â
âOkay, this is what weâre going to do,â Tessa responded, clasping her hands together. âWeâre going to get that man drunk, so we can get him to sign some papers and transfer all his wealth to his son right here.
Howâs that?â
âTessa. Thatâs⦠a pretty dark idea.â
Tessa leaned forward. âSometimes, Ariel, you have to fight fire with fire. Mr. Kingston wonât hesitate to use any means necessary to maintain his grip on power. We have to be willing to play by his rules if we want to stand a chance against him.â
I bit my lip, torn between my discomfort with the plan and the desperate need to save my familyâs business. âBut getting him drunk and manipulating him into signing over everything to Larry⦠it feels wrong.â
âItâs not about what feels right, Ariel,â Tessa insisted, her voice firm. âItâs about doing whatever it takes to protect the ones we care about. Mr. Kingston has no qualms about ruining lives to get what he wants. We canât afford to be naive.â
I nodded slowly, understanding the logic behind Tessaâs plan even as my conscience protested. âOkay.
letâs say we go through with this. How do we even pull it off?â
Tessaâs lips curved into a sly grin. âLeave that to me. I have a few tricks up my sleeve. All we need is ant opportunity, and Iâll make sure Mr. Kingston falls right into our trap.â
I sighed, feeling a knot of anxiety forming in my stomach. âI just hope this doesnât backfire on us. If Mr.
Kingston finds outâ¦â
âWeâll cross that bridge when we come to it,â Tessa interrupted, her tone confident. âRight now, we need to focus on taking back whatâs rightfully yours and ensuring your familyâs future.â
I nodded, steeling myself for the dangerous game we were about to play. âOkay, letâs do it. But promise me Tessa, that no one gets hurt in the process.â
Tessaâs expression softened, and she reached out to squeeze my hand reassuringly. âI promise, Ariel.
Weâll do everything we can to make sure this goes smoothly. And when itâs all said and done, your family will be back on top, where they belong.â
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to push aside my doubts and fears. âAlright then. Letâs make it happen.
âThatâs the spiritâ She tapped my shoulder.
âSo, you mean Iâm not getting married to Luke anymore?â
âIf this plan becomes a success, yes. And apparently, it will be successful, you wonât have to sacrifice your happiness for your parentâs business.â
âSounds great, but still kind of dark.â
âDonât say that,â Tessa told me inaudibly.
âIâve just been watching you guys and Iâve seen that relationship built by the both of you. We need really need to get this done as soon as possible,â Larry vocalized.
Still shocked that he was about to help us execute this, and the plan was still awkward. But if this could actually work, all this chaos would be no more.
âSo, hereâs the plan,â Larry leaned forward, outlining the details. âWeâll hire a beautiful stripper to seduce my father. Sheâll lead him to a private room, where sheâll⦠distract him. Once heâs sufficiently occupied, sheâll slip a sedative into his drink, and while heâs out cold, weâll get him to sign the papers.â
â
Tessa nodded in agreement. âItâs risky, but it might just work. Weâll need to coordinate carefully to ensure everything goes smoothly.â
âLarry, I donât know about this,â I said, my stomach churning uneasily at the thought of using such deceitful tactics.
Larry glanced at me. âAriel, I understand itâs not ideal, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
My fatherâs obsession with women is wellâknown. This might be our only shot at getting him to sign those papers.â
âBut using someone like that⦠It just feels wrong.â I protested..
âI know itâs not ideal, Ariel,â he replied. âBut think about whatâs at stake here. Your familyâs business, your future. We canât afford to let sentimentality get in the way.â
âLarryâs right, Ariel,â Tessa chimed in. âWe need to be practical about this. If we want to succeed, we have to be willing to do whatever it takes.â
âOkay, fine. But I donât have to like it,â I said after a sigh.
âNone of us do,â Larry admitted. âBut sometimes, we have to make tough choices for the greater good.
