Chapter 397
The Love From Vengeance
397: THE STRUGGLE WITHIN ARIELâS POV After my motherâs calm words, I took a deep breath before I finally spoke, âItâs about Luke.â
âItâs what about Luke?â She inquired, raising an eyebrow.
âHe finally regained consciousness; thatâs great. But unfortunately, he lost his memory,â revealed.
Hearing my words, her eyes widened. âLuke lost his memory.â
âYes, the doctor had to let me know that the car accident was serious, and it erased a lot of things from his head for a lot of people, including me and Janice.â
Ð My mother nodded. âHold on. So now youâre telling me that Luke doesnât know youâre his wife.â
âI did tell him and try to make him recall things, but instead, his head just started hurting, and boom, he blacked out. So now, I really need to be careful.â
âWow, thatâs really painful,â she stated, shaking her head.
âI know, and Iâm trying my very best not to stress him at the moment, keeping him away from people so they donât start talking too much. I donât want him to experience intense pain anymore.
âBut you do know youâll have to tell him everything, right?â She arched her brow in response.
âI know; thatâs why I brought him to this mansion.â
âI think itâs best you start telling him everything now.â
âI will, but not tonight.âHe might start feeling some pain and lose consciousness. Iâm not up for that, trust me.
âItâs all part of the process,â she said to me.
a âAnd I need to take things carefully,â I responded. I sighed, feeling the weight of the situation pressing on me. âI just donât know how to approach it, Mom. Itâs like walking on a tightrope, trying not to upset him but also knowing he needs to know everything.â
My mother placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. âI understand, Ariel. But sooner or later, heâll have to face reality. And itâs better he hears it from you.â
âI know, I know,â I murmured, running a hand through my hair in frustration. âI just donât want to overwhelm him. Heâs been through enough already.â
âThatâs true, but he also deserves to know the truth,â she insisted gently.
I nodded, acknowledging her words. âYouâre right. âIâll find the right time and approach to talk to him about it.â
âGood,â she said with a supportive smile. âAnd remember, Iâm here for you every step of the way. Weâll get through this together.â
I managed a weak smile and was grateful for her unwavering support. âThanks, Mom. I really appreciate it.â
âWeâre family, Ariel. We stick together, no matter what. And thatâs everything that matters. When youâre down, Iâm down. And when youâre happy, Iâm happy. I have a smile on my face. I see you with a smile on your face. Iâll always stand by you.â
Her words were really beautiful, and I couldnât hold back a smile. âThanks.â
My mother squeezed my shoulder affectionately. âYou donât have to keep on thanking me, Ariel. I believe in you. Youâre stronger than you think. Donât ever let the doubts overshadow you. One thing Iâve come to know so far is that you are a strong woman. Youâre not a coward, so donât let the fear take full control of you.â
I was silent for a moment, simply processing the words. âWow, I donât know what to say. That was actually beautiful. Thanâ¦â
âDonât tell me, thank you,â she interrupted me.
I chuckled, shaking my head.
âGoodnight,â she said.
âAre you leaving? I thought you were going to spend the night here.â
âThanks, but Iâll be going to my apartment now. Thereâs no need for you to worry. Just take care of yourself and Luke. Okay?â
âOkay,â I uttered in a whisper. âGoodnight.â
She smiled and walked away from me. I watched her as she left and buried myself on the couch. With my arms stretched wide, I let out a deep sigh. I didnât even know the time I drifted off to sleep.
The lights in the living room were off when I opened my eyes.
These helpers couldnât even inform me about it.
I stood up from the couch, yawning, and with sleepy eyes, I walked upstairs. The mansion was really quiet, with everyone asleep, as I headed to my room. Finally, I got there.
As I made my way to the door, I yawned again. I put my fingers on the doorknob, and I tried opening it, but I realized I couldnât. Luke had locked it from the Inside.
Oh crap!
I tried opening it several times to see if I could be lucky. But nope, it was locked. It was locked.
I said, âLuke,â and yawned for the third time. I did not like this at all.
âLuke,â I called out, my voice louder than the first, as I started knocking on the door. âAre you asleep?
Open the door.â
With each call, I continued knocking on the door, my voice growing more urgent. âLuke, are you there?
Open the door, please.â
But there was no response, no sound from inside the room. Frustration mixed with exhaustion as I leaned against the door, feeling the load of sleep pulling at my eyelids.
With a heavy sigh, I sank down to the floor, resting my back against the door. My eyelids. drooped as I fought to stay awake, the fatigue of the day finally catching up with me.
Just as I was about to succumb to sleep, the door suddenly creaked open, catching me off guard. I yelped in surprise as I tumbled backward into the room, landing in a heap on the floor.
Before I could gather my bearings, I felt strong arms wrap around me, preventing me from falling further. My heart raced as I looked up, blearyâeyed, to see Lukeâs concerned face. hovering above me.
âAre you okay?â he asked.
I nodded slowly, still trying to shake off the grogginess of sleep. âYeah, Iâm fine. I just⦠couldnât open the door.â
He helped me get to my feet, steadying me as I wobbled unsteadily. âYou should have called out louder,â he said softly, his hand lingering on my arm.
âI did,â I mumbled, rubbing my eyes to clear away the sleepiness. âGuess you were sound asleep,â
He chuckled softly, a warm smile spreading across his face. âSorry about that. I must have dozed off.â
âItâs okay,â I replied. I dozed off, too, but Iâm glad youâre okay.â
He chuckled. âYeah, Iâm fine. But thanks anyway for waking me from my sleep.â
I gave him a tired smile. âYouâre welcome. And thank you for keeping me at the door for quite a long time.â
âYou canât blame me. I was having a nice dream.â
I leaned in closer as I whispered, âWhat was the dream about?â
âWhy are you asking?â
âNothing, actually. Iâm just curious. âYou know, just to see if you were dreaming aboutâ¦â
âYou,â he cut me off. âYou wanted to know if I was dreaming about you.â
âWell, if you say so, I donât have a problem with that.â I yawned forthwith.
âYou look really exhausted. You should go to sleep.â
âI know, right?â I yawned again, stretching my arms.
Luke quickly carried me in his arms, closed the door, and took me straight to the bed,
