The Love From Vengeance
92 ITâS OKAY ARIELâS POV Andre and finally arrived at the hospital, with Lukel still in his arms. The air was cool and sterile, a stark contrast to the heat radiating from Lukelâs body.
âLukel my brave boy. Iâm here for you. Donât be scared. Mommyâs going to make sure nothing bad happens to you,â I said to Lukel in a soft, yet worried tone.
He had woken up while we were at the car, and he was trembling like seriously, crying loudly, which brought so much pain to my heart.
We approached the receptionist and she glanced at us, her eyes filled with empathy.
âI can see how worried you are. But everything will be fine. Please go to the pediatric ward. The doctors there will assist you,â she told us.
âThank you,â I vocalized, underneath my breath.
We rushed down the hallway, Andre leading the way with steady steps. Lukelâs small hand clung tightly to my finger, seeking solace.
Lukel cried, âMommy, Iâ¦.Iâ¦â
âDonât worry my baby. Everythingâs going to be okay. Thereâs no need to scared. Thereâs no need to be scared. Mommyâs here for you,â I reassured Lukel. Deep down, I prayed fervently for his wellâbeing.
As we entered the examination room, Lukelâs cries grew louder, punctuating the anxiety in the air.
âWhatâs wrong Miss?â The doctor approached us with a gentle smile, her calm. demeanor reassuring.
âItâs my son. His temperature is really high. I donât want anything bad happening to him.â
The doctor kept on with her smile. âDonât worry. Nothing will happen to him. This is nothing serious.â
âAre you sure about that?â I asked, as Lukel kept on crying, still in Andreâs arms.
The doctor moved closer to him. âDonât cry now, little one. Itâs all going to be okay.â
*She glanced back af me. âI understand your concern Miss, panicking like hell. If I were in your shoes, Iâd do the same. But you just need to know that we will try our very best to help him â
âDo all the best you can, doctor. Do anything you have to do. Just make sure he âAriel, can you please calm down?â Andre asked me gently.
âHow an I supposed to calm down when my baby isnât doing alright?â
1 âItâs just a fever for crying out loud. Heâll get through with this in no time.â
âHeâs still my little one. And my blood flows in his veins, I canât bear to see him. like this,â I told Andre.
âI know. But this is just life, Ariel. We all go through tough moments, whether we like it or not.â
âAndre, thank you. But you donât have to start bringing quotes now. Lukelâs well- being is all that matters.
I turned to the doctor. âDoctor. Please, you got to hurry.â
âJust relax Miss,â the doctor told me. âLet me just examine him.â
She carefully examined Lukel, checking his temperature, pulse, and listening to his heartbeat. After a few moments, she stood up and faced us with a reassuring smile.
âGood news. Lukelâs vital signs are stable, and his fever seems to be coming down. Itâs likely just a viral infection that should run its course in a few days.â
âAre you sure about that?â I aksed her, raising an eyebrow, and glancing at Lukel once again.
The doctor nodded, understanding my concern. âI understand your worry, but based on his symptoms and the initial examination, it appears to be a common viral infection.
However, Iâll run some tests just to be thorough. Itâs always better to rule out any other possibilities.â
Relieved yet still anxious, I turned to Lukel, who still in Andreâs arms, looking weak and pale. âHang in there, buddy,â I said, trying to sound optimistic. âThe doctor says itâs just a viral infection. Youâll be back to your energetic self in no time.â
Lukel managed a weak smile, his eyes reflecting a mix of uncertainty and trust. âI hope so,â he whispered, his voice barely audible.
The doctor approached with a syringe in hand. âIâm going to take a blood sample for testing,â she explained while preparing the needle. âIt wonât take long, and weâll have the results as soon as possible.â
Lukel winced slightly as the needle pierced his skin, but he remained brave. I held his hand tightly, trying to offer comfort during the uncomfortable procedure. The doctor swiftly finished, and Lukel let out a relieved sigh.
âNow, thatâs a strong boy. Youâre going to be as tough as your mother.â Andre smiled at Lukel.
âNow, all we have to do is wait for the test results,â the doctor assured us. âCan you wait?â
âUhmm, how long is it going to take us?â I asked slowly.
âJust going to take some minutes. I was only asking because itâs kind of late. Some people are fast asleep by now.â
âNo, no, itâs okay,â Andre chimed in. Weâll be right here, waiting for the results.â
âOkay then. You both can take a seat.â The doctor smiled reassuringly and left the room, leaving us in the hushed atmosphere of the hospital.
Andre and I sat down, with Lukel lying on both of our laps, his head fixed on mine, as I slowly caressed his hair. The minutes ticked by slowly, each one filled with a mix of hope and worry.
As we sat there in silence, I couldnât help but reflect on the times we had spent togetherâhis laughter ringing through the air, his infectious enthusiasm for life. The thought of losing that spark was unbearable.
Suddenly, a nurse entered the room, holding a clipboard. âI have the test results, she announced, and her voice was brimming with cautious optimism. âItâs confirmed. Lukel has a viral infection, just as the doctor suspected.â
The doctor entered the room forthwith. âYes, just as I had told you Miss. So, thereâs no need to worry.â
âSee, You worry too much.â Andre laughed lightly, shaking his head.
âYou canât actually blame me.â I shrugged.
The doctor laughed. âItâs okay now.â
Relief washed over me, and I couldnât help but smile back at the doctor. âThank you so much, Doctor. I canât believe I was panicking like that.â
She nodded. âI understand. As parents, itâs natural to be concerned. But Lukel is in good hands. Weâll provide him with the necessary treatment and monitor his progress closely.â
âI glanced at Andre, who had a relieved expression on his face too. âThank you for being here with me, Andre. Your support means the world to me.â
He squeezed my hand gently. âIâll always be here for you, Ariel. Weâll get through this together.â
The doctor interrupted our moment, saying, âIâll prescribe some medication to help bring down Lukelâs fever and alleviate his symptoms. Make sure he gets plenty of rest and drinks fluids. If his condition worsens or doesnât improve in a couple of days, donât hesitate to reach out.â
âThank you, Doctor. Weâll follow your instructions carefully,â I said, gratitude evident in my voice.
As we left the doctorâs office, I held Lukel close, feeling his warmth against my chest.
âMommy, when did you come back?â Lukel asked softly. âAnd are you going to leave us again?â
I sighed and glanced at Andre.
âArenât you going to take them along?â He asked. I shook my head in silence.
âTake us along? To where exactly?â Lukel threw another question, his body actually getting better.
âItâs nothing, son.â I kneaded his hair. âYou need to get some rest.â
