Chapter 94
The Love From Vengeance
94 AGREED LUKEâS POV Coming out through the gate, I saw someone standing a little bit far, putting on nothing but black. Black cap, black trousers, black jacket, back jacket, all black.
âLuke Reynold,â he said, turning around. And with that voice, indeed, it was Lucifer. He also had a mask on, still black.
âYou showed up quite fast. Have you been trying to be like Barry Allen these past few days?â His tone was quite mocking.
âNo silly questions. Letâs just get this done with.â I budged closer to him.
âYouâre right. Now, whereâs the money?â
âItâs going to be sent directly to your bank account.â
He laughed. âThatâs actually a nice thing. So, when are you going to follow through with this?â
âLater in the day.â
âWhy donât you just do it now?â
âWhy donât you just reveal this person to me?â I retorted.
âSorry, but Iâm no fool. If I give you information, you might just go away like that, not giving me anything.â
âIâm not like that.â
He chuckled. âCanât trust anybody.â
âI canât trust you either,â I throw him a comeback. âWhat if I give you the money, and then you decide to go away like that? How does that sound, huh?â
Lucifer laughed. âYou actually have a point. But come on, you need mine more than I need yours.â
âHmm, Iâm not so sure about that.â
He chuckled. âYou do remember what happened at your house, right? Your beloved cousin lost her life.
You might be next.â
âWell, Iâm not actually scared of death. I donât see anything captivating in this life anymore.â
âWhat about your wife?â
I laughed. âSeriously? Sheâs the one youâre bringing up, now?â
âYou know, a lot of people do say theyâre scared of death. But when death actually comes for them, they transfigure into a chicken, scared as hell.
I suspired. âNot me.â
ARIELâS POV âSo, care to tell me how life has been for you all this while?â Andre aksed. The both of us were in his car, as he was driving me home.
âItâs been normal,â I answered, looking through the window. âI guess,â I added inaudibly.
âYouâre sure about that?â Andre took a quick look at me, before setting his eyes back on the road.
âYeah, why are you asking me that?â I glimpsed at him.
âIâm just being concerned. I hope Luke hasnât been treating you bad like how he did in your previous marriage.â
âHonestly, heâs still a jerk,â I said. Andre was quick to look at me. âBut, heâs actually gotten better than before. Thereâs a little bit of human in him, now.â
âI see. Thatâs actually a great thing, right? I mean, thereâs a chance that the both of you can live happily ever after.â
I couldnât help but laugh. âCome on, Andre. This isnât a fairytale.â
âI never said it was,â he uttered, his tone silly. âBut just in case that man tries to make your life a living hell. Just know Iâm here for you.â
I grinned at him. âWhat are you going to do, exactly?â
âIâm gonna beat the hell out of him.â
I giggled, playfully hitting his shoulder. âI guess you must be feeling like Superman when you said that.â
âNah, Iâm not a fan of Superman.â
I chuckled. âAre you being for real right now?â
He glanced at me. âWell, yeah. Do I look like Iâm joking, or what?â
âLike come on.â I opened my mouth slightly. âWho doesnât like Superman?â
âOh, Iâve seen a lot of children who are just like me in this one.â
âWell, if we were to rate this a hundred percent. I think ninety percent of individual in this world are fans of Superman. Big fans.â
Andre Laughed. âHmm teli me more about it,â he sarcastically said.
âNo, no. Iâm being for real. Like the âS on my chestâ stuff and all that? Come on man, are you human, or what?â
âWell guess what? Lukel and Janice are both like me. We donât really care about that about that Kryptonian, or whatever they call him.â
I furrowed my brows at him, silent for a moment. âYou have got to be kidding me.
âHa!â Andre exclaimed, playfully hitting my shoulder, as he kept on driving.
LUKEâS POV âSo, are you giving me that money, or not?â Lucifer asked.
I couldnât hold back a sigh. âI see you want this so bad? What if I donât give it to you?â
âYour life is in danger, Luke Reynold. And you need to know whoâs after you, so you can be able to stop her before itâs too late.â
âStop her?â I brought out instantly. âSo, itâs a she.â
âOops. Looks like I just gave you a little hint,â Lucifer said in a playful tone. Then he became serious as she spoke, âWell, itâs a she. Thatâs all you need to know for now. And if you donât act fast, she might take your life, or kill those who are precious to you.â
Do I have any one precious to me, again? I didnât really think so. But I would just have to do this anyway. Only because I wanted to know the person behind Rileyâs death.
âOkay then. The moment Iâm done with work today, Iâll make sure you get your money.â
âYou made the wise choice, Luke Reynold,â Lucifer tapped my shoulder. But I stopped that, seizing his hand, taking those fingers off me. I wasnât going to start joking with him now.
âAnd are you someone I can trust?â I questioned him.
âWho told you about Harrietâs dishonest ways? Me? So come on, you can count on me in this.â
âCounting on you?â I chuckled. âIâm paying you man. And I just hope you keep to your words.â
âYou donât have to worry about that, Luke Reynold. Iâm not going to let you down.
I gave him a skeptical look. Yeah, something like that. âI hope so.â
He walked away after that. I stood still, thinking about the whole conversation we had.
I still couldnât believe this guy wanted this huge amount of money, just for a common information. Worst part of it all, was that I never even wanted to have a knowledge of it. But he kept on hagriding me, so galling.
But I would have to do this for Riley. Yes, that beautiful soul. The person that sent those goodâforâ
nothing men to attack me, was so going to pay.
A car parked in front of me, and Jack came out, already ready for work, dressed in his suit, boldly walking in my direction. I did nothing but look at him as he got closer to me.
âGood morning, sir,â he greeted.
âGood morning assistant. How may I be of help to you?â
âWell, I just came to clarify a few things with you,â he said, and trailed off. After that, he hit his face, looking disappointed in himself.
âDamnit. I forgot it in the car,â he inaudibly spoke to himself. âHold on sir, just give me a minute, will you?â
I nodded, and he rushed to his car, probably to bring out whatever he had left there.
Another car showed up, parking behind that of Jackâs. And you could just guess the two nimrods who slowly came out. It was Andre, and his beloved friend; Ariel.
