"Mr. Rudraksh Malhotraaaaaaa"

The loud shout startled Ruhanika, causing her to flinch while still cradled in Rudraksh's arms. Her fears quickly resurfaced, and she instinctively buried her face in his neck, clutching his shirt tightly near the collar. A fierce anger flashed in Rudraksh's eyes, but he knew he couldn’t afford to raise his voice, not with Ruhanika in such a fragile state. Instead, he directed a deadly glare at the person responsible, his expression conveying a silent yet potent warning.

The tension in the room was palpable as Rudraksh and the other person locked eyes, each glaring with an intensity that could cut through steel. Despite the silent battle of wills, Rudraksh carefully walked over to the couch. He bent down and gently placed Ruhanika on the couch. Yet, even as he tried to step back, Ruhanika's grip on his hand tightened. She refused to let go, her eyes pleading with him for comfort and reassurance. Rudraksh could feel the fear coursing through her, and his expression softened, his attention shifting back to her. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, silently promising that he wouldn't leave her side.

Rudraksh: "Yahi hu, kahi nahi ja raha, bas iski akkal thikane laga du."

(I'm right here, not going anywhere. Just need to knock some sense into him.)

Ruhanika looked up at Rudraksh with a puzzled expression, her brows furrowed and eyes searching his face for answers.

Ruhanika: "Ak..kal thikane???"

(Knock some sense?)

Before Rudraksh could respond, someone yanked him back by his shoulder. Ruhanika's eyes widened in alarm. She instinctively pulled her legs up onto the couch, hugging them tightly as she buried her face in her knees, peeking out just enough to keep an eye on Rudraksh. Her heart raced with fear, but she needed to make sure he was okay. Through her tear-filled eyes, she saw Rudraksh and the man who had pulled him standing face to face, both glaring at each other with intense anger. The tension in the room was palpable, and Ruhanika's grip around her legs tightened as she anxiously watched the confrontation unfold.

Rudraksh: "Kya batameezi hai ye??"

(What kind of insolence is this?)

Person: "Chup kar tu, aisi harkat karne ke baad..."

(Shut up. After what you've done...)

Ruhanika trembled when the man raised his voice at Rudraksh, his shout echoing through the room. Her heart pounded in her chest, and she could feel the fear gripping her tighter. However, before the man could finish his sentence, Rudraksh swiftly cut him off, his voice firm and commanding. The authority in Rudraksh's tone was undeniable, immediately silencing the man. Ruhanika's eyes flickered with both fear and a sense of safety, knowing Rudraksh was there, ready to protect her no matter what.

Rudraksh: "Awaaz niche rakh ke baat kar, meri biwi Darr Rahi hai. "

(Keep your voice down; you're scaring my wife.)

The man's gaze shifted to Ruhanika, and he noticed her trembling with fear. Seeing her so frightened, his expression softened, the hardness in his eyes melting away. He took a deep breath, and his tone immediately became gentler, his voice almost soothing as he spoke, trying to reassure her. The change in his demeanor was clear, his anger fading as he realized the impact it had on her. He stepped back slightly, no longer wanting to be the source of her fear.

Person: "I'm sorry yaar, mera bhabhi ko darane ka irada nahi tha."

( I'm sorry, man. I didn’t mean to scare my sister-in-law.)

Rudraksh: "Par dara diya na."

(But you did, didn’t you?)

Rudraksh sat down beside Ruhanika, and the moment he did, she threw her arms around him, burying her face in his chest. Tears streamed down her face as she began to sob uncontrollably, her small body trembling against his. Rudraksh's heart clenched at the sight, and he instinctively wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. He gently stroked her back, murmuring soft, comforting words, trying to calm her down. The warmth of his embrace seemed to be the only thing that could offer her solace in that moment of fear and distress.

Rudraksh: "Shhh Betu, kuch nahi hua hai. Ye toh hai hi pagal aise hi chilla raha tha ye, bachcha Rona nahi. "

(Shhh, sweetie, nothing happened. He’s just crazy and was yelling like that. Don’t cry, okay?)

Ruhanika: "Ye a..ap pe g..u..ssa hai, kya ye bhi gu..sse me h..ath uth..ate hai??"

(Is he a..angry with you? Does he also get angry and raise his hand?)

Rudraksh's eyes darkened with anger as her words sank in. He realized, with a sharp pang of fury, that someone had dared to lay a hand on her. The very thought of it made his blood boil, his jaw clenching tightly as he held her. His protective instincts flared up, and a fierce determination settled in his expression. How could anyone have the audacity to hurt her? The rage simmered just beneath the surface, and he knew he had to find out who was responsible. He tightened his hold on Ruhanika, silently vowing that whoever had caused her this pain would pay dearly.

Ruhanika: "A..ap inhe n..ahi maare, y..ye ba..haut achche hai, h..um..are pati hai. H..um ma..fi man...gte hai ag..ar inse galti h..uyi toh."

(D..don’t hit him, h..he’s very nice. He’s o..my husband. I..I’M sorry if he did something w..wrong.)

Rudraksh held Ruhanika close, his embrace firm and reassuring. As her tears soaked into his shirt, he felt his heart racing in a way it never had before. When she called him her husband, it struck a chord deep within him, filling him with a profound sense of responsibility and affection. The feeling was both new and incredibly special, making his heart swell with emotions he hadn't anticipated. Gently, he pressed a tender kiss to the top of her head, his own way of offering comfort and admiration. Just then, Rishwik rushed into the room, his expression a mix of concern and confusion. He joined Rudraksh and stood beside the person who had caused the commotion. The man, still baffled by Ruhanika's intense reaction, looked between Rishwik and Rudraksh, trying to understand what had just unfolded.

Rishwik: "Areh Angel, tum daro nahi. Ye kuch nahi karenge. Ye Ashvik bhai hai, Rudraksh bhai ke dost. Ye dono aise hi baatein karte hai."

(Oh, Angel, don’t be afraid. He won't do anything. This is Ashvik bhai, a friend of Rudraksh bhai. They always talk like this.)

Ruhanika glanced up at Rudraksh, her tear-streaked face a mixture of fear and confusion. Rudraksh, his anger barely contained, blinked at her, silently confirming Rishwik's words. Her sobs gradually subsided, but her cheeks flushed a deep red due to crying. Rudraksh's frustration mounted, but he knew he needed to stay calm for Ruhanika’s sake. With a deep breath, he gently pulled her away from him. Ruhanika immediately shook her head, her eyes pleading as if to say she wasn’t ready to let go just yet. Rudraksh’s heart ached seeing her so vulnerable, and he fought hard to keep his anger in check while he focused on comforting her.

Rudraksh: "Yahi hu betu, kahi nahi ja raha."

(I’m right here, sweetie, not going anywhere.)

Ruhanika released her hold on Rudraksh, curling up on the couch, her arms wrapped tightly around her knees as she tried to find solace in her own cocoon. Her eyes remained fixed on the ground, trying to shield herself from the turmoil around her. Rudraksh, standing tall and rigid, turned his intense glare towards Ashvik and Rishwik. His eyes were sharp with a mix of anger and determination, a silent warning to both men that he would not tolerate any further disturbances.

Rudraksh: "Ye news failane wala tu hi hai Rishwik. "

(You’re the one spreading the news, Rishwik.)

Rishwik: "Ji bhai, par maine sachchi call nahi Kiya tha Ashvik bhai ka samne se call aaya tha."

(Yes, bhai, but I swear I didn’t make the call. Ashvik bhai called himself.)

Rudraksh's gaze was fixed on Rishwik, his eyes burning with restrained anger. He spoke in a measured, low tone, carefully choosing his words so as not to upset Ruhanika further.

Ashvik: "Abe use kya ghoor raha hai, shadi karli aur best friend ko bulana toh chodo, bataya tak nahi."

(Why are you staring at him? You got married and didn’t even bother to invite your best friend or tell me.)

Ashvik gave Rudraksh a light punch in the stomach, and Ruhanika witnessed it. Ruhanika’s eyes widened in shock as she watched Ashvik’s hand make contact with Rudraksh’s stomach. The suddenness of the act made her heart race, and a wave of anxiety surged through her. She instinctively flinched, her body tensing up as she clutched her knees tighter, her eyes locked on Rudraksh, desperate to ensure he was okay.

Ruhanika: "N..nahi pl..ease, humne m..aafi man..gi na."

(N..no, please, I... already a..apologized.)

Rudraksh: "Kisne kaha tumhe maafi mangne vo bhi is gadhe se."

(Who told you to apologize, and that too to this idiot?)

Rudraksh's tone turned sharp as he scolded Ruhanika, his frustration evident in his voice. She immediately lowered her head, her lips forming a small pout as her eyes glistened with unshed tears. The sternness in his words made her feel both chastised and hurt, causing her to shrink further into herself, her earlier courage replaced by a sense of vulnerability.

Rudraksh: "Offo yaar, tum na baat baat pe udaas mat hoya karo, achcha nahi lagta hai."

(Oh, come on, don’t get upset over every little thing. It doesn’t look good.)

Rudraksh's tone softened as he patted Ruhanika's cheek with a mix of affection and reassurance. Despite the sternness in his scolding, his touch conveyed a deep sense of care and concern for her. Ruhanika looked up at him with a mix of relief and lingering sadness, appreciating the tenderness even amidst the reprimand. Ashvik, still in a state of shock, watched the scene unfold with wide eyes. He struggled to process the intensity of the situation and the emotional bond between Rudraksh and Ruhanika. His surprise was evident, and he appeared somewhat dazed by the exchange. Rishwik, noticing Ashvik's stunned reaction, gave him a firm shake to snap him out of his trance. Ashvik, catching his breath, leaned in and whispered to Rishwik, trying to make sense of what had just transpired.

Ashvik: "Bhai tu sure hai na ye Rudraksh Malhotra, Mafia king 'The Leo' hai??"

(Bro, are you sure this is Rudraksh Malhotra, the Mafia King 'The Leo'?)

Rishwik: "Haa bhai, ye vahi hai, par kya kare Aurat ka chakkar Babu bhaiya aurat ka chakkar."

(Yes, bro, he’s the one. But what to do, it's all because of a woman, Babu bhaiya, all because of a woman.)

Rishwik couldn't help but let out a soft giggle at Ashvik's expressions. His amusement was short-lived, however, as Ashvik shot him a sharp glare. The intensity of Ashvik's stare conveyed a mix of annoyance and disapproval, making it clear that he was not pleased with Rishwik's reaction.

Rudraksh: "Ho Gaya dono ka??"

(Are you two done?)

Ashvik: "Haa, par tu bata mujhe sab. Aur bhabhi main Ash.."

(Yes, but now tell me everything. And sister-in-law, I’m Ash...)

As Ashvik approached Ruhanika, she instinctively tightened her grip on Rudraksh's hand. The protective hold seemed to ground her amidst the swirling emotions and tension in the room. Rudraksh, sensing her fear and reluctance, sat back down beside her, offering a reassuring presence.

Ruhanika: "D...d..urr."

(S...stay a..away.)

Ashvik halted in his tracks, a look of confusion crossing his face as he observed Ruhanika's fear and Rudraksh’s protective stance. Rudraksh’s glare, sharp and intense, directed at both Ashvik and Rishwik, conveyed his frustration and determination to shield Ruhanika from any further distress.

Rudraksh: "Rishwik ji, ab agar aap khabar faila hi rahe the toh Puri khabar de dete."

(Rishwik Sir, if you were already spreading the news, you could have given the complete news.)

Rishwik: "Bhai main toh sab batane hi wala tha, ye Ashvik the over excited bhai ne kuch Suna nahi phone cut karke daude chale aaye."

(Bhai, I was about to tell everything, but Ashvik here got over-excited, didn’t even listen, hung up, and came running.)

Rudraksh's piercing gaze remained fixed on Ashvik, who responded with a sheepish smile, attempting to defuse the tension with a forced display of friendliness.

Rudraksh: "Mera muh kya dekh raha hai ab, leja ise."

(What are you staring at my face for? Take him away.)

Rishwik: "Ji bhai."

(Yes, bhai.)

Rishwik gently tugged Ashvik aside, away from the tense scene, and began explaining everything to him in hushed tones. Meanwhile, Rudraksh remained with Ruhanika, who was clinging to him tightly. His focus was entirely on soothing her distress. As she nestled against him, he continued to rub her back in a calming, rhythmic motion, his expression softening with concern.

Rudraksh: "Shhh yellow, tum kitna roti ho, tumhare aakhein hai ya kisi tangi ka nal??"

(Shhh,  yellow, why do you cry so much? Are these eyes or a faucet?)

Ruhanika had managed to stop crying, but confusion still clouded her eyes. She touched her own eyes gently. Then, she turned her gaze toward Rudraksh, searching for clarity.

Ruhanika: "Dekh...iye hum..ari aakhein hi hai."

(L..look, they are o..my eyes.)

Unable to hold back any longer, Rudraksh gently tugged at Ruhanika's cheeks. His touch was tender, filled with affection.

Rudraksh: "Kitni masoom ho na tum choti si chidiya jaisi, my dove."

(You're so innocent, like a little bird, my dove.)

Ruhanika tilted her head and gazed at him with a mix of curiosity and innocence. In that moment, Rudraksh was certain that despite everything, her presence and her simple gestures would inevitably bring a smile to his face. The genuine, unguarded look in her eyes made him believe that today, amidst all the chaos, she was the key to unlocking a rare, heartfelt smile from him.

Rudraksh: "Kuch nahi, chalo lunch kar lete hai phir tumhe medicine Leni hai."

(It's nothing, let's go have lunch, then you need to take your medicine.)

Ruhanika made a face, and Rudraksh responded by pinching her nose.

Rudraksh: "Leni padegi medicine. Doctor ne bataya mujhe saare anjar panjar dheele hai tumhare."

(You have to take the medicine. The doctor told me all your bones and joints are loose.)

Ruhanika: "Aa..p kya ke..hte hai, hume k..uch sama..jh nahi aata."

(W..what are y..you s..saying? I d..don’t understand.)

Rudraksh: "Isiliye toh kehta hu."

(That’s exactly why I’m saying it.)

Rudraksh muttered under his breath.

Ruhanika: "Ji??"

(W..what?)

Rudraksh: "Kuch nahi, kaha tha na meri baaton pe dhyan mat do. Chalo lunch karne chalte hai."

(Nothing, I said don’t pay attention to what I say. Let’s go have lunch.)

Ruhanika attempted to lower her legs to the floor from the couch, but Rudraksh gently halted her. With a swift, practiced movement, he scooped her up into his arms, cradling her effortlessly against his chest. She instinctively nestled closer, feeling secure in his embrace as he carried her with a blend of care and protectiveness.

Rudraksh: "Mana kiya hai na chalne se, sunti kyu nahi ho??"

(I had restricted you from walking, why don't you listen?)

Ruhanika: "Abhi aa..p hi ne toh kaha ch..alo."

(just now you said to walk)

As Rudraksh held her in his arms, Ruhanika lowered her eyes, her gaze focusing on his chest. Her hands wrapped securely around his neck, seeking both comfort and stability in his embrace. She leaned in, her face brushing against his shoulder, and the gentle rise and fall of his breaths provided a calming rhythm to her racing thoughts.

Rudraksh: "Ufff, literal meaning lene nahi kaha tha."

(Ugh, I didn’t say to take it literally.)

Ruhanika: "Jiii???"

(W..what??)

Rudraksh: "Kuch nahi, chalo... I mean main le chalta hu."

(Nothing, let's... I mean, I’ll take you.)

Rudraksh carefully placed Ruhanika in a chair at the dining table, his gentle movements ensuring she was comfortable. As he set her down, Ruhanika’s eyes were filled with curiosity, reflecting her interest in the new surroundings. Rishwik and Ashvik soon arrived, with Rishwik taking his seat at the table. Ashvik, having learned about Ruhanika’s past, looked at her with a sympathetic expression. His gaze softened as he took in her nervous demeanor, a stark contrast to his usual confident self.

Rudraksh: "Baith na, muh kya dekh raha hai, invitation du tab baithega???"

(Sit down. What are you looking at? Do you need an invitation to sit?)

Ashvik offered a faint, reassuring smile before taking a seat beside Rishwik. He deliberately kept a bit of distance from Ruhanika, understanding that too close a seat beside her might make her uneasy. Ashvik offered a faint, reassuring smile before taking a seat beside Rishwik. He deliberately kept a bit of distance from Ruhanika, understanding that too close a proximity might make her uneasy.

Ruhanika, positioned on the opposite side of Rishwik with Rudraksh at the head of the table beside her, sat with her head lowered, her gaze fixed on the table. She nervously fidgeted with the sleeves of Rudraksh's oversized shirt, a subtle sign of her anxiety. Rudraksh, seated beside her, kept a watchful eye on her, his presence a comforting shield against the unfamiliar surroundings and the attention from others.

Rudraksh: "Ab kya hua??"

(Now what happened?)

Ruhanika: "Kya hum y..aha c...hair pe b..ai..th sakte hai?? Aap..ko isse k..oi tak..leef nahi hai??"

(Can we s..sit here on the c..chair? Won't it b..bother you?)

Rudraksh glanced around, puzzled by the shift in atmosphere. His confusion was mirrored on Rishwik and Ashvik's faces as they all tried to understand the unexpected change in Ruhanika's mood.

Rudraksh: "Maine hi bithaya na tumhe yaha?? Toh mujhe kya issue hoga isse?? Aisa kyu puch rahi ho????"

(Didn’t I just ask you to sit here? Why would it bother me? Why are you asking like that?)

Ruhanika shook her head, her expression resolute. Rudraksh's gaze, however, grew intense as a sudden realization or thought crossed his mind. His eyes darkened with anger.

Rudraksh: "Kya us ghar me tumhe mana kiya tha chair pe baithne se??"

(Were you told not to sit on a chair in that house?)

Rudraksh's voice carried a sharp edge, unmistakably revealing his anger. The harshness of his tone left Ruhanika momentarily speechless, unable to find the words to respond or explain. Her eyes widened slightly in fear, and she hesitated.

Rishwik: "Bhai please araam se, Angel dar rahi hai."

(Bhai, please, be gentle. Angel is scared.)

Rudraksh closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to regain his composure. The anger that had flared within him began to subside as he focused on calming himself, his features relaxing into a more controlled expression.

Rudraksh: "Achcha sirf ha ya na me apna sir hila phir main kuch nahi puchunga. Kya tumhe chair pe baithne se mana kiya tha??"

(Okay, just nod your head yes or no, and I won't ask anything else. Were you told not to sit on a chair?)

Ruhanika simply nodded, her face reflecting a deep sadness as she was lost in thoughts of her past. The men in the room, despite their concern, were unable to fully grasp the depth of her emotions. Rudraksh, though brimming with questions, remained silent, respecting her space in light of her evident distress. The room fell into a heavy silence, each person grappling with their own thoughts and feelings.

Rudraksh: "Maharaj ji, khana lagaiye."

(Chef, serve the food.)

The kitchen staff, having overheard snippets of Ruhanika’s distress, quickly gathered around the kitchen door. Their faces were filled with concern and sympathy as they learned about the bits and pieces of her suffering. The chef, with a nod of understanding, directed the team to bring out the lunch. As the staff entered the dining area with the food, Ruhanika's anxiety became palpable. She instinctively reached for Rudraksh’s hand when Ramu Kaka approached to serve her. Her grip was tight, reflecting her unease. Rudraksh, ever attentive, placed his hand gently over hers.

Rudraksh: "Kaka, aap rakh dijiye main kar lunga."

(Uncle, you can leave it. I’ll take care of it.)

Ramu Kaka nodded in acknowledgment and went on to serve the others at the table. Meanwhile, Rudraksh focused on serving Ruhanika.  Ruhanika's gaze remained fixed on Rudraksh, her eyes filled with confusion and a trace of curiosity. Despite the warmth of the food and the comforting presence of Rudraksh, she couldn't shake off her unease.

Rudraksh: "Ab kya ho gaya bachcha??"

(Now what’s wrong, little one?)

Ruhanika: "Vo hu..m toh sa..bse aa..khir me kha..te hai, toh aap hume k..yu pa..ros rahe hai?? Aur v..o sab kyu na..hi kha rahe??"

( I...i usually e..eat last, so why are y..you serving me first? And why i..isn’t everyone else e..eating?)

Rudraksh's jaw clenched as he controlled his anger, knowing that Ruhanika, by habit, waited for everyone else to start eating before she touched her own food.  Unbeknownst to her, her innocent behavior was unintentionally digging a metaphorical grave for Vijaypratap and Sukriti, exposing their neglectful actions and creating a situation that would eventually force Rudraksh to confront them. As he watched her, his protective instincts flared, and he steeled himself to address the issue later, all the while maintaining a facade of calmness to avoid alarming her further.

Rishwik: "Ye sab kon Angel kiski baat kar Rahi ho??"

(Who are you talking about, Angel?)

Ruhanika, still feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed, didn't make eye contact with Rishwik. Instead, she pointed toward the staff members. Rishwik and Ashvik exchanged smiles, touched by her innocent gesture and the purity of her heart. However, Rudraksh's gaze was sharp and unyielding as he glared at the staff. They, sensing the intensity of his stare, lowered their heads in respect and perhaps a bit of apprehension.

Rudraksh: "Dove tum sabke baad khati thi??"

(Dove, did you always eat after everyone else?)

Rudraksh's anger was palpable as he addressed the chef, his voice carrying a stern edge. The chef, understanding the gravity of the situation, stepped forward to provide an explanation.

Chef: "Sir, we told ma'am not to do this, but she always cooks for all of us and only eats after everyone is done. She doesn't even eat much, just dal, roti, and rice, that's it."

Rudraksh’s gaze shifted from the staff to Ruhanika, and his eyes hardened with a mix of frustration and concern. The intensity of his glare conveyed his displeasure, though it was clear that his anger was more about the situation and its implications than about Ruhanika herself.

Rudraksh: "What is this yellow?? Khana thik se kyu nahi khati ho tum?? "

(What's this, Yellow? Why don't you eat properly?)

Ruhanika: "Hum t..oh hu..me..sha se aise hi..."

(I... always... have... like this...)

Rudraksh: "Okay okay. Ab main khilata hu tumhe aur tum Shanti se khaogi samjhi??"

(Okay, okay. Now, I'll feed you, and you'll eat calmly, understood?)

Ruhanika nodded. As the staff quietly exited, Rishwik and Ashvik exchanged knowing smiles, clearly touched by Rudraksh’s unexpected tenderness. The meal continued in a more relaxed atmosphere, with Rudraksh focused solely on Ruhanika. He gently fed her, his actions carefully measured to avoid aggravating her injured shoulder. Each bite was delivered with a blend of care and affection, highlighting his protective nature. Ruhanika, while still unsure about the unfolding situation, seemed comforted by his attentiveness. She looked up at him with gratitude and a hint of relief in her eyes, feeling the warmth of his concern. Rishwik and Ashvik observed this dynamic with quiet amusement, noting how Rudraksh’s usual stern demeanor softened when it came to Ruhanika.

Ashvik: "Vaise manna padega Bhai, kismat wala hai itni pyaari aur sundar biwi leke aaya hai."

(By the way, I have to admit, you're a lucky guy to have such a lovely and beautiful wife.)

Rudraksh, with his usual arrogance, couldn't hide his irritation as he shot a glare at Ashvik.

Ashvik: "Ghurta kya hai be, aise hi Raha toh teddy bharosa nahi karegi tujhpe."

(Why are you staring like that, dude? If you keep doing this, Teddy won't trust you.)

Rudraksh: "Teddy??"

Ashvik: "Ha toh kya sirf tu hi apni biwi ko nickname de sakta hai?? Meri bhi behen jaisi hai."

(Yeah, what? Are you the only one allowed to give your wife a nickname? She's like a sister to me too.)

Ruhanika: "Na..hi, bhai b..ura."

(No... b..rother is... bad.)

Ruhanika spoke in a trembling voice, her words barely audible. Rudraksh immediately reached out and took her hand in his, offering her a reassuring grip. His touch was firm yet gentle, a silent promise of support and comfort. The warmth of his hand seemed to calm her fears slightly, even as she continued to look at him with wide, uncertain eyes.

Rudraksh: "Haa, koi nahi shant raho tum."

(Yeah, it's okay. Don't worry.)

As Rudraksh gently fed Ruhanika another bite, Rishwik, noticing the solemn atmosphere, decided to try and lift her spirits. He cleared his throat and approached with a playful grin.

Rishwik: "Vaise Angel tum bhai pe itna bharosa kyu karti ho?? Kyuki inki harkatein toh..."

(By the way, Angel, why do you trust Rudraksh Bhai so much? Because, his actions...)

Poor Rishwik once again received a sharp glare from his elder brother, while Ashvik couldn't help but chuckle at the scene. Ruhanika, still not lifting her gaze, spoke quietly in response to Rishwik's question. Rudraksh, though his expression remained stern, was also visibly intrigued and eager to understand the reason behind Ruhanika's trust in him.

Ruhanika: "Ky..uki Nima ne..kaha tha."

(Be..cause Nima s..aid so.)

Rudraksh: "Nima kon??"

(Nima? Who's that?)

Ruhanika: "Nani maa"

(Grandma.)

Rudraksh: "Tumhari Nani ma ne kaha tha sirf isiliye tum mujhpe bharosa karti ho??"

(Your grandma told you to trust me?)

Ruhanika shook her head.

Ruhanika: "sha..adi ke d..in aapne hath pa..kda toh hu..me hum..esha ki tarah bura n..ahi la..ga. hu..me sukrakshit m...eh..sus hua."

(On our... wed..ding day, when you... held my hand... it didn't feel bad... like it usually does. I... felt safe.)

Rudraksh: "Bas yahi kaaran hai betu??"

(That's the only reason, betu?)

Ruhanika: "Nima ne k..aha tha, sh..adi ki r..aat aap k..uch k..arenge, ji..sse hume b..ahaut dard hoga aur hu..me seh..na padega."

(Nima said... on the wedding night... you would do something... that would hurt me a lot... and I have to bear it.)

Rudraksh's eyes widened in shock, and even Rishwik and Ashvik's expressions mirrored his astonishment. It was the first time they had ever seen a hint of blush on Rudraksh's usually impassive face.

Ruhanika: "Toh hu..me laga a..ap humpe h..ath u..thayenge, hu..me ma..renge. par aap toh a...chche hai aapne k..uch nahi ki..ya. isiliye bha..rosa hai aap pe."

(So, I thought... you would raise your hand on me, hurt me... but you didn't. You're good, so I trust you.)

Rudraksh was taken aback by the realization of how his wife had interpreted her grandmother’s words. The innocence in Ruhanika’s understanding struck him profoundly, leaving him momentarily stunned as he processed just how pure and untainted her perspective was. Meanwhile, Rishwik and Ashvik shared a look of disbelief, their eyes darting between each other and Ruhanika, who remained unaware of the impact of her innocent confession.

Ashvik: "Teddy, did you really think Rudraksh would hit you?"

Ruhanika’s nod only seemed to amplify the humor for Rishwik and Ashvik, who burst into hearty laughter, their amusement echoing through the room. Meanwhile, Rudraksh sat there in stunned silence, grappling with the unexpected revelation and the surprising innocence of his wife’s thoughts. His usual composure was momentarily shattered, leaving him speechless amidst the laughter of those around him.

Ruhanika’s heart sank as she saw Rishwik and Ashvik laughing at her. Her face fell, and her eyes filled with sadness. Seeing Rudraksh’s wide-eyed shock only deepened her distress. She hesitated for a moment before gently tapping his hand, hoping to regain his attention. Rudraksh, snapping back to reality, noticed her sorrowful expression. His eyes softened, and he quickly realized the effect their laughter had on her.

Ruhanika: "Kya h..um ne kuch ga..lat kaha??"

(D..did I s..ay something w..rong?)

Rudraksh: "Nahi."

(No.)

Ruhanika: "Toh kya h..umare ch..ehre pe kuch hai??"

(So, is there... something on my f..ace?)

Rudraksh: "Nahi toh kyu??"

(No, why?)

Ruhanika: "Ye aap..ke bhai, aur aapke d..ost has rahe h..ai, humpe. Kya h..um achche n..ahi dikh rahe??"

(Your b..rother and friend... are laughing... at me. Do I... not look good?)

Rudraksh shook his head with a mix of disbelief and admiration at her innocence. Despite the situation, her pure-hearted misunderstanding had touched him deeply. He couldn't help but feel a swell of affection for her, even as he grappled with the shock of the moment.

Rudraksh: "Kuch nahi, vo dono gadhe hai na isiliye has rahe hai. Main inko pagalkhane se utha ke laaya hu."

(Nothing, they're just donkeys, that's why they're laughing. I picked them up straight from the asylum.)

Ruhanika's eyes widened in concern as she saw Rishwik and Ashvik glaring at Rudraksh.  Rishwik and Ashvik's expressions were a mix of frustration and disapproval, clearly upset by Rudraksh's reaction.

Ruhanika: "Gadhe?? Ky..a in..sano aur g...adho me bhi ris..hta ho sakta hai?? "

(Donkeys? Can... humans and... donkeys... be related?)

Rudraksh couldn't help but smirk at Ruhanika's innocent question, finding a strange amusement in her candidness. Rishwik and Ashvik, on the other hand, were visibly taken aback; their jaws dropped in shock at the unexpectedness of her query. The contrast between Ruhanika's pure curiosity and the men’s stunned reactions added a layer of humor in the room.

Rudraksh: "Haa ho sakta hai na ab in gadho ko hi dekh lo."

(Yeah, they can. Just look at these donkeys here.)

Rishwik: "Bhai yaar ek lauta bhai hu main aapka, aur aap aise karoge??"

(Bro, I am your only brother, and you're doing this to me?)

Ashvik: "Sharam karle Nalayak aadmi."

(Have some shame, you worthless man.)

Ruhanika: "Aap ai..se mat boli..ye inhe, ye t..o..h maza.. uuhhhuuuuu."

(Don't... talk like that to him... he is... Joki... uhhhhh.)

Rudraksh, Rishwik, and Ashvik all simultaneously extended glasses of water towards Ruhanika. She glanced between them, unsure of which to choose. Finally, she reached for Rudraksh’s hand. He helped her sip the water, his touch reassuring and steady. As she drank, the supportive presence of the three men seemed to bring a calm over the room.

Rudraksh: "Jab pata hai gale me dard hai, toh kyu bol Rahi ho itna, chup ekdum ab. Bilkul muh nahi khologi tum samjhi??"

(You know your throat hurts, so why do you talk so much? Be quiet now, you won't open your mouth, Understand?)

She nodded her head and Rudraksh continued to feed Ruhanika from the same plate, his attention solely focused on her. As he offered another bite, she hesitated, lowering her head in silence.

Rudraksh: "Ab kha kyu nahi rahi tum??"

(Now, why aren't you eating?)

Rudraksh's concern deepened as Ruhanika continued to keep her head lowered, her silence speaking volumes.

Rudraksh: "Arehh bologi bhi??"

(Will you say something?)

Ruhanika: "Aap hi n..e toh ka..ha ki muh nahi kho..lna."

(You... told me... not to open my... mouth.)

Rudraksh mentally facepalmed. His irritation was palpable as he turned a stern glare at Rishwik and Ashvik, whose laughter had once again broken the tension in the room. The two quickly fell silent, understanding the gravity of Rudraksh’s displeasure. Ruhanika, still pouting and looking visibly distressed, felt a flicker of sadness.

Ashvik: "Broo you have a long way. Mehnat mushakkat bahaut karni padegi tujhe."

(Bro, you have a long way to go. You're going to have to put in a lot of effort.)

Rudraksh completely ignored Ashvik, his focus solely on Ruhanika. Offended by the disregard, Ashvik scowled and made faces, his frustration evident.

Rudraksh: "aur tum, sawalon ki dukaan har cheez ka literal meaning kyu le leti ho tum."

(And you, why do you take everything literally?)

Ruhanika: "Ma..tlab, aap jo bol..enge uska u..lta karna hai??"

(So... I have to do... the opposite of... what you say?)

Rudraksh: "Phir se sawaal. Tum ab bas chup rahogi aur muh khol ke khana khaogi samjhi??"

(Another question! Now you will just keep quiet and eat your food, understood?)

Ruhanika nodded and resumed eating, with Rudraksh feeding her bite by bite. As she tried to tuck a few stray hair strands behind her ear, her sleeves were too long, causing her hand to get lost within the fabric. She frowned in frustration and pouted, the struggle evident on her face. Rudraksh, on the verge of smiling at her endearing struggle, maintained his composure, though a soft glint of amusement flickered in his eyes.

Rudraksh: "Ruko main kar deta hu."

(Wait, I'll do it for you.)

Rudraksh gently reached out and tucked the stray hair strands behind her ear, his touch tender and careful.

Rishwik: "areh Angel, tumhare Baal kitne bikhar gaye hai, banaye kyu nahi??"

(Angel, your hair is so messy. Why didn't you tie it?)

Ruhanika glanced up at Rudraksh, her eyes meeting his for a fleeting moment before she lowered her head again.

Ruhanika: "Hum b..ana lenge."

(I'll... manage.)

Rishwik: "Achcha kaise banaogi, haathon ko dard dekar."

(How will you manage with your hands hurting?)

Ruhanika remained silent, her gaze fixed on Rudraksh.

Rudraksh: "Mujhe mat dekho, itne lambe baal hai tumhare, mujhe nahi aata."

(Don't look at me. Your hair is so long, I don't know how to do it.)

Ruhanika nodded slowly, her gaze dropping once more. Her head bowed, she seemed lost in thought.

Rishwik: "Main bana du Angel?"

(Should I do it for you, Angel?)

Ruhanika's eyes widened with fear as she looked up at him. Rudraksh, sensing her anxiety, gently held her hand in reassurance.

Rudraksh: "Mujhpe bharosa hai na??"

(You trust me, right?)

She nodded.

Rudraksh: "Ye chota bhai hai mera, mere jaisa hi hai. Tumhe kuch nahi karega bharosa kar sakti ho."

(He's my younger brother, just like me. He won't do anything to you. You can trust him.)

Ruhanika nodded hesitantly, still feeling a mix of apprehension and trust.

Rudraksh: "bol du use tumhare Baal banane??"

(Should I ask him to tie your hair?)

Ruhanika nodded.

Rishwik, seeing Ruhanika's tight grip on Rudraksh's hand, approached her gently. He moved behind her and, with careful movements, began to gather the loose strands of her hair. Ruhanika’s anxiety was palpable, and she tightened her grip even more, but Rishwik’s calm demeanor helped ease her tension. Rishwik’s touch was delicate as he tucked her hair behind her ear, mindful of her vulnerability. He spoke softly, trying to offer reassurance.

Rishwik: "Angel, relax."

Ruhanika, sensing the sincerity in Rishwik's words and feeling the gentle touch, started to relax. As Rishwik caressed her head lightly, Ruhanika’s earlier tension began to dissipate. Her grip on Rudraksh’s hand gradually loosened, indicating her growing trust and comfort. Rudraksh, observing this shift, let out a sigh of relief. It was clear that Rishwik’s kind and careful approach was making a positive impact on Ruhanika, helping her feel safer and more at ease. Rishwik continued to braid her hair with a steady hand, making sure to keep his movements as gentle and non-intrusive as possible. His careful approach, without any unnecessary contact, allowed Ruhanika to feel secure and untroubled.

Rishwik: "Done."

Rishwik’s gentle pat on Ruhanika’s head and his reassuring grin seemed to comfort her. Her eyes, which had once been filled with fear, now showed a glimmer of trust and calmness when she looked at him. Seeing her reaction, Rishwik’s smile widened, pleased to have gained a small measure of her trust. Just then, Amandeep came rushing into the room, his eyes glued to his tablet.

Amandeep: "Sir, this Vijaypra.."

Rudraksh: "Shut up Arora."

Rudraksh quickly intervened angrily and stopped Amandeep  from speaking further. Amandeep glanced at Rudraksh and then at Ruhanika, realizing that any discussion in front of her would only add to her distress. He gave a nod of understanding, acknowledging Rudraksh's unspoken request to keep the conversation away from Ruhanika's sensitive ears.

Amandeep: "Sorry Sir."

Rudraksh: "Bachcha, chalo tum medicine leke thoda araam kar lo thik hai??"

(Sweetheart, why don't you take your medicine and rest for a bit, alright?)

Ruhanika nodded and Rudraksh carefully lifted Ruhanika into his arms once more, carrying her tenderly towards their room. He laid her down gently on the bed and began administering her medications. Although she made faces at the taste, she accepted the medicine without protest. Once she had taken her medicine, Rudraksh adjusted her position on the bed, ensuring she was comfortable. His movements were tender and precise, reflecting his deep concern and care for her well-being.

Rudraksh: "Ab tum so jao kuch der. Thank gayi rahogi na itne saree test and  all se."

(Now you go to sleep for a while. You must be tired after all those tests and everything.)

Ruhanika nodded, and Rudraksh covered her with the duvet. As he stood up, Ruhanika grabbed his hand.

Ruhanika: "A..ap chod ke ja ra..he hai hume??"

(A..are you l..eaving me?)

Rudraksh: "Nahi, main toh uth ke baju me baith Raha tha tumhare. Main bhi toh araam karunga na. Tum so jao main yahi hu thik hai??"

(No, I'm just sitting next to you. I'm going to rest too. You sleep, I'm right here, okay?)

Ruhanika nodded in relief as Rudraksh sat beside her, gently patting her head. She closed her eyes, and soon, the effects of the medicine caused her to drift into a deep slumber. As Rudraksh watched Ruhanika drift into a peaceful sleep, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt for the pain she had endured. Gently, he pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, a tender gesture that contrasted sharply with the storm brewing within him. He adjusted the duvet to ensure she was snug and comfortable, his movements careful and deliberate. Once he was satisfied that she was settled, Rudraksh stood up, his expression hardening into a mask of fierce determination. The softness in his eyes was replaced by a steely glare, his anger palpable. His demeanor had shifted dramatically; he was no longer the tender husband but an avenging force. The tension in his jaw and the fury in his eyes made it clear that he was ready to confront whoever had caused Ruhanika’s distress. As he exited the room, his presence was charged with a lethal intensity, like a lion ready to pounce.
