Chapter 1040 - Getting Physical

Ye Linlang looked out of the window and took a sip of lemonade from her glass. She spoke in a calm manner, not the least affected by Li Zhiwei’s words.

“Li Zhiwei, do you still love Xuning? Doesn’t that make you seem kind of pathetic? You have always loved him, and you still do even now. I was away for more than ten years. You could have made him yours while I was gone, yet you still didn’t manage to make him marry you…”

Her words pierced right through Li Zhiwei’s heart.

It was true that he refused to marry her. Even without Ye Linlang by his side, he never cared about Li Zhiwei. She meant nothing to him; he would never love her.

“This is all your fault, Ye Linlang. He would’ve married me if you hadn’t appeared in Xuning’s life, right?”

Ye Linlang placed the glass on the table and smirked. “Li Zhiwei, you do realize that he still wouldn’t love you even if I was gone because of how paranoid you are.”

Li Zhiwei chortled. “Paranoid? Ye Linlang, you only appeared in his life at the most convenient time. That’s all. It’s nothing but luck on your side.”

“I didn’t appear too early or late. I came at the right time. This only goes to show that we are destined as lovers.” Ye Linlang leaned forward and whispered to Li Zhiwei. “What does it matter if Xuning and you knew each other for so long? He still doesn’t love you at all.”

“He does not love you.” Those words hurt Li Zhiwei’s heart so much. “You’re right, Ye Linlang. He doesn’t love me, but I love him very much. Even in death, I will love him forever.”

“Li Zhiwei, why would you want to make yourself so miserable and lonely? It’s been so long. Aren’t you tired? When I came to the capital back then, someone told me he was going to marry you. However, you’re still not his wife. It’s different for me; I can be Mrs. Xie anytime I want.”

Ye Linlang was calm and confident. She sat upright, looking straight into Li Zhiwei’s eyes. Although she was already more than forty years old, she did not look any older than 30, with a sparkle in her eyes.

“Ye Linlang, you’ll regret taking his love for granted.”

Ye Linlang smiled even more radiantly. Was she taking his love for granted? What did Li Zhiwei know about the love they had for each other? It was an unforgettable love; till death will they part.

“Li Zhiwei, why don’t you call off your engagement now? Go ahead and woo Xuning. Don’t follow meekly behind him like a little girl waiting for her candy. I’ll give you a chance to confess your love to him.”

Li Zhiwei was furious beyond words. She was shaking with rage. In contrast, Ye Linlang was very composed. It was clear who won and who lost.

Li Zhiwei proudly said, “I don’t need to do that.” I don’t need your pity.

Ye Linlang smirked, “Li Zhiwei, are you sure? This is your only chance; there won’t be any more chances if you give up this one opportunity.”

Li Zhiwei glared at Ye Linlang with rage flowing through her veins like lava.

Ye Linlang stood up and picked up the glass. Suddenly, she splashed the glass of lemonade on Li Zhiwei’s face.
